  1. Picture attached...(credit Importr for picture) starting at the watch head... there's a large end link that attaches to the watch head on my Chrono Avenger... this link is attached to the head by a spring pin... i removed the spring pin to remove the bracelet from the head... the first link after and attached to the large end link is attached with a pin... then the bracelet has no pins or screws for three links... after these links, there are 4 links with screws... (at least that's how my bracelet is contructed...) R-
  2. I read the various posts on pin removal, but want to be sure... which direction to push from to remove the pin?...(not trying to remove the screws - just the pins near the end link) 1) pin end that is flush with the bracelet link 2) pin end that is slightly recessed from the bracelet link end both end appear to be solid - so it doesn't look like a split pin... there's no direction arrow on the bracelet... thanks... 3. i discovered this site too, when i was doing a breitling montbrillant search...i couldn't find out if they were legit or not... i do know that the pix seem almost toooo good to me...the watch i was looking for in gen is 38mm and most reps of this watch are larger...they advertise a 38mm one that really looks good...so, to be honest, that worried me... i can't remember if i contacted them or not, but suggest you do and/or take the risk... enjoy...R

  5. thanks for the assist --- armed to party, i am....... going to watch 'Rainman' now.............. very well done...very... kudos!... R-
  6. fixed...my second hand was set too close to the crystal causing it to repeatedly stop at 9 seconds...
  7. I have had this same watch for a couple weeks...watcheden... The VC 1755 Jubile ... I like it soooo much that i'll probably spring for the RG version when i can...ahhhhh - soooo many watches to buy, so little time............ It is absolutely one of the best finds in this crazed hobby...i have received many compliments already...and it looks at good with jeans/sweater as it does with the starchy white shirt/tie!... Besides the dial and the overall quality look/feel, i like the bead on the bezel...nice touch... My power reserve does work...i had a problem with it stopping due to my second hand being dangerously close to the crystal...i had a local watchsmith try to work on it...but he couldn't get out one of the screws...with whatever he did, the second hand must have moved slightly -- in now runs flawlessly... enjoy the watch as much as i do... 8. to aid in your quest...here's a great review over at RG... http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=10234 enjoy and welcome aboard... (i got a good chuckle with your post title - oh, so true!)... R-
  9. "search and ye shall find"........... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;hl=steelfish my SOSF was inspired by Pugwash...and the dial is white...snow white... enjoy - R
  10. I just received a "fun" chrono avenger that i purchased from watcheden -- "fun" definition: it's not accurate, nice quality, looks good, is less than $100usd delivered to USA, can be worn as a "daily"... http://www.watcheden.com/breitling-chrono-...tch--20020.html I don't have the camera skills yet, so i can only include the watcheden stock photo and a link to their page...i searched quite a few places for a decent quality SS chrono avenger (not Ti - remember, it's for "fun")...many had lousy dials, blobby pearls, you name it...i'be done business with watcheden and the experience and service has been good so far... Here's my quick commentary of this watch... Credits: I read quite a few posts on chrono avengers...but am including two links below to Pugwash's fantasy SS chrono avenger and Impotr's compare of Ti version 2 and a gen...thanks guys!...I'm including a picture of Pugwash's fantasy from his post...link to post, below... Pugwash - "Pugwash's Breitling Chrono Avenger, Fantasy Stainless Steel from TWP" http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=30679 Importr - "Chrono Avengers: Face off!, Gen vs. Rep" http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...ng+utc+bracelet This chrono avenger "white sky" is what i call it...this watch has the same case, bezel, bracelet (as near as i can tell)...but there's a difference in the movement, capabilities, date wheel...so please check out Pugwash's beautiful pictures and cross reference with the watcheden stock picture...I also compared the bracelet with the comments from Importr and the gen pictures...the SS bracelet has a professional 2 bracelet with gen-like link spacing and clasp engravings very close to the gen...very close...so thanks to Pug and Imp for there posts... Case: polished SS, rounded pushers, same size as Skylands, nice caseback with excellent engravings/detail...crown is screw-in...nice large "B" on the crown... Bezel: nice...mostly brushed SS with polished rider tabs...has the Avenger family markers, tabs at 15,30,45...nice engravings detail...nice font...pearl is just a tad below quality of current skyland avenger - but very exceptable...there's no scripted "B" on the bezel in any place... Bracelet: professional bracelet...excellent buckle engavings - near gen quality...outer links are polished and inner link is brushed...this really looks sharp...why?...because the brushed inner link has a goldish tinge of color to it, due to the brushing...so, in some light conditions (especially room and low level) it appears to almost be two-tone...faint two-tone, but noticeable contrast in the links...very nice IMHO...very... Dial: hmmm...it grows on you?!...it's kinda off-white...not cream...but a soft white...you can tell because the hands are white with lume...i guess - as i look down at it now, that it's a soft pearl white - but a flat finish...the dial and subdials are the same color...the subdials have very tight concentric circles...so they stand out a little from the face, but not a big contrast...the dial is skyland-like...the numbers are skyland format...there are lume dots that are flat and not rounded like the current skyland...the numbers, marker dots, 12 o'clock triangle and the hands are lumed...but normal asian lume that fades quickly...but the numbers do look cool in lume...(i am considering a lume job at some point - but then again, who knows...a lume job would add to the "fun" factor)...the subdials are NOT working chronos, though...i knew this when i bought it...the 6 o'clock is a working 24 hour dial...the 9 o'clock is a day or week indicator that changes every 24 hours...the 12 o'clock advances by the pushers and appears to just be a way to manual show the month via numbers 1-12...the chrono doesn't work...which is ok...i don't need it to work...if i need one, i have plenty other watches i can use...especially my Skyland...the subdial hands are black...the hour and minute hands are white with lume...not sure i like the white hands as it almost blends in too much...but then again, from a distance the watch is almost all white in look...the second hand is running -- this i like...many chronos have a second hand that only moves when in chrono mode...the running seconds, adds to this watch...ok, ok...the date wheel/font/etc sucks...it's sunken and has a magnifier effect between the date wheel and the dial...this sunken date wheel takes away from the watch...but then again, you can't have everything in an under $100usd watch...the movement is supposed to be an asian automatic 21j...the breitling logo on the dial is silver and raised...nice...the word "automatic" is written above subdial 6 o'clock in red - it's small, yet clear...but not overpowering on a white dial... Crystal: is not sapphire...stated as mineral...but looks fine...slightly domed - as it should be...no AR that i can see --- BUT, with the white dial, the glare/etc is not bad at all... All in all, i very nice detailed find...not accurate, but looks good...great price for the quality/detail... Hope you enjoyed these ramblings...i'm not an expert, so i may be wrong on my comments...pls feel free to question/correct/refine... I wish i could take some pix...will try when i eventually have time... R-
  11. This watch has a couple different versions with slight differences...the problem i'm finding is good pictures with details of the dial imprint and the color of hands and markers... What color SHOULD the following be: 1. minutes and hour hands 2. running seconds hand 3. 9 o'clock subdial hands 4. 3 o'clock subdial hands 5. number markers 6. dot markers Is there a "best" version?...if so, who has it and why?...for me, "best" is good quality detail of the guilloche dial, accurate'ish hand/marker colors, movement, strap, etc...although most seem to have advertised "lemania" movement (seagull, i believe) and same/similar strap/buckle... thanks - R
  12. thanks for the advice...of which i'll heed...i'm learning...R
  13. ooops...the VC i included in this post IS the VC Malte Chronograph...R
  14. I decided to solicit feedback/comments on these 3 classic chronos...As i wanted a dialog, i decided against a simple poll... These three are on my "near-term short-list" of purchases...i may, in time (pun intended), buy them all... As a comment, i like this style watch...i have a VC 1755 Jubile (needing service, but gorgeous, nonetheless) and a Lange 1 in the air...i find that these watches can be worn for formal, work and play...sporty, classy, elegant...textured and refined... Please feel free to comment on these with preferences/etc and also to suggest any others that fit this "category"... 1. A.Lange & Sohne: Flyback Chronograph 2. Breguet: Classique Chronograph #884 3. Vacheron Constantin: Malte Chronographe All these watches are advertised as "lemania" movement with working chronos...the Lange is 42mm and the Breguet and VC are 40mm...sapphire crstals front and back...and all cost less than $250usd...i am using Ruby's pix - but all these are available from most of the dealers... ahhhh...classic chronos, NFL playoffs, Amstel... 15. Bill...thanks... you will be amazed with this watch...it's really sharp!...i am going to get mine serviced... what i love about this watch is that it looks great with casual dress...at a christmas party with sweater and jeans, i had at least 4 people comment on........ wear yours well...and let me know how you like yours!... R-
  16. Hey Corgi -- thanks... I am going to take your advice and head to a local watchsmith who i spoke with this morning.. This watch is really one of the great bargain watches...the dial and the case (with a simple scroll) is eye-catching...the dial is a light silver and really has gorgeous texture...and here's the best part...this watch is less $88 on watcheden after the $20 coupon...so even with a $75usd servicing - to me, it's well worth it... I am still eyeing up a VC classic chronographe per your earlier suggestion...they run a little over $200 with seagull movement...although, for some reason, i seem to recall a version with blue hands and dial highlights...most of the current ones have silver hands and silver numbers/markers...so i continue to search... I was hoping that someone might know if this is a bigger problem before i get it serviced...it ticks me off (pun intended) because out of the box, it ran for the first day fine...and then this sporadic stuff...earlier tonight, i wound it fully - the power reserve was pegged to full -- and just let it sit on the counter...it ran for 3 hours and then stopped...i tap the crystal softly with my finger and it starts?!....oh well... R-
  17. yes...seen this one, too...but i really like the one i started this post with... rolex2u=dearwatches=watcheden... i have ordered and worked with watcheden...and yes - the pix don't really show the details that well...but the watches are great... will keep up the search... i agree -- i like the breguet brand...i especially like watches with guilloche-like dials...i am into textured elegant/sporty look in watches...something equally as confortable wearing in the board room or with jeans... any suggestions on watches that fit this profile or similar in classy/elegant textured looks, pls let me know...am waiting on a Lange 1 with a textured dial...hoping it's what i think it will be... 18. I purchased a VC 1755 Jubile from watcheden...This watch has an "asian automatic 21j" movement...As I am not an expert, I don't know exactly what this movement is called...The watch has two subdials: 1) Day @ 9 o'clock, 2) Date @ 3 o'clock...it has a running sweeping full second hand...it also has a working power reserve @ 6 o'clock...I have had it about 2 weeks, but it is problematic...I am not sure if it was from old stock and is "dry" or something...the problem is that the watch sporadically stops...Sometimes it stops when i am wearing it...sometimes it stops when it is laying down...the power reserve appears to work as i watched it move to full when i was wearing it...When it runs it appears to run fine -- keeping time and not losing it...when it stops, a simple tap or a shake sometimes restarts it...other times, i have to pull the crown out and then push it back in...when the power reserve is full, though, and i lay it down at night, it stops within 4 hours (which i know is not right)...obviously, it stops when i wear it sometimes, so i didn't expect it to not stop when i lay it down...it also has had a couple wearings when it may have stopped or slowed down as i have noticed it losing time - which could be because it stopped and re-started or it simply slowed...i'm thinking it may have stopped and re-started and didn't slow on it's own...for example, i reset the watch about 3 hours ago and it's running fine and not losing time...it is laying down and not on my wrist... all in all, it's a gorgeous watch and i want it to work...watcheden will take it back, but wants to charge me for return shipping costs ($30 argh!)...i called a local watchsmith and he said he could service it for $75usd...i am worried that sending it back, my result in getting another one with a similar problem... any advice on what to do, why this may be happening, or whatever is helpful... (i also posted this in the watch repair forum - but thought perhaps others may have had this problem and could relate a remedy/advice) thanks...R we_VC_Jubile_a21j_face.bmp we_VC_Jubile_a21j_back.bmp

  20. I contacted Peter at Watchstation about this particular watch...unfortunately, he said they are not available anymore... I am attaching pictures in the hope that someone has an idea of where to source it...I especially like the leather strap that came with it...i very much like the classic watches, but favor elegant/casual smart looks...something that looks good when dressed up, something that looks good with smart casual... Any info or direction, would be appreciated...thanks...R
  21. Am very much interested in the bronze dial new Legende... I have reviewed all the excellent pictures from the new owners, but am wondering if they can take some more wristshots from different angles, lighting, etc (front, side, buckle, etc)...with shirtsleeves and without... Would really help to get a sense of how this wears... I have a 7 1/4" wrist and think it should be fine...but since the face/dial is so large and the bracelet is blingy gorgeous, i just need to get a good sense for how it would look...this watch makes a statement - and as i like to wear my watches, i would like to know if it looks sensible or not... thanks to those new owners for the great pix already posted... (while i am interested, personally, in the bronze dial -- pix of the white and black would help, too...i'm sure other members would like to see this, too...and for those posters of pix, if you could mention your wrist size, that would be great...) 22. Hi... I am looking at a VC Overseas and understand there's a "upgraded version" 1-1, with eta 2836, etc, etc... I have been reading thru these posts and it appears there are pros/cons on these different versions - some have better features than the other, etc...better dial, better cross, better bracelet, etc - with better being either more accurate to gen or simply better... Has anyone done a side-by-side comparision of these versions...with pix...or does anyone have text on what the differences are between the various models... Thanks...R
  23. Much thanks.... Happy Holidays!... I will keep you informed of my progress... I haven't made my final list for Narikaa yet...i'm leaning toward the VC classic Chronographe white dial, tho...not sure, quite yet with the Toledo...i love the look, but am not sure how much i'd wear it...i am looking into a Lange 1 - as i like it's retro/classic styling... ah...choices, choices............ R-
  24. Corgi - I found the link to Victoria's Toledo 1952 RG that you posted...very nice...and nice to see it on the wrist...it's a large watch...nice!... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=397205 as you say, this is a nice one...something formal and classy...not a daily wearer... but i will tell you...i am surprised that the VC 1755 Jubilee in SS really can be both formal and casual...it wears well...the dial and the reflections from the markers, hands, etc really make this watch look one heckuvalot more expensive than it is...as you say, this has to be one of the quieter watches out there -- a great rep - great detail and great style...nice texture with the case and its bead, the dial, blue subdial hands, silver markers/main hands/geneve crest/etc...and with the dial being more silver than white, it shows but doesn't blind... thanks...R
