  1. yawn...rub eyes...tired from searching and reading...and to no avail... @Freddy and others...how does one know which ss bracelet was "standard" on this model in its gen life?...did they come with the "riveted" bracelet or the "standard" bracelet...mine came with the standard bracelet...but i'm able to get a used "riveted" bracelet cheaply and am wondering if one or the other is closer to the original gen... thanks!...R
  2. Have a great day... Happy Birthday!... R-
  3. Is there a previously posted closeup picture and/or descrptive post on the MM?...I searched but all the references are w/i posts and all spread out...unless I missed it.. am on a bb 2day, so that doesn't help either... R-
  4. Hey K -- good to see you!...hope dinner was good... thanks for the pix...i'm just learning about all this, so i appreciate the info for you and the others...always good to learn about the gen and rep details/history... tell your FIL that this will be well-cared-for...and that i appreciate the info...and most importantly, that I wish him well in his recovery!... R-
  5. i know the picture isn't the best -- but how does one identify the "mystery movement" from the seagull/lemania movement in this watch?...(i searched for "mystery movement" and couldn't find a good detailed picture)...and freddy, comparing this watch to the black/gold one in your pix above, i would think it's 38-40mm, too...just from the subdial spacing... not a bad looking watch, IMO...should be fun... from what i've read, i should opt for the standard/regular ss bracelet over the riveted bracelet...heard of problems and feel/weight issues in the rep riveted...am i correct in this?!... guys -- thanks for the info...it's great to learn from you...it's appreciated...R
  6. @freddy -- amazing knowledge...thanks... here's the "sale" pictures...if you zoom in, you can see it slightly better...the back of the case seems to have "3055" on the lower row of backcase numbers... i asked the seller to send me closeups...which i await... how does one know how old a rep is?...i have to assume this isn't a new rep of a vintage watch?!.. thanks...R
  7. thanks, freddy... these are the only pix i have right now... as soon as i get more, i'll post them...the crown broke off the stem...can that be repaired...the seller said that his dad (who's collection was unfortunately sold due a stroke - yikes) had another stem he would insert to set the watch, etc...does this tell you anything? you mentioned a steel version...what was this watch originally made with?... if this watch is a 3055, is this a rare rep?... appreciate your great advice, my friend... R-
  8. ok...i just bought another "vintage" watch...a white dial vintage chronographe w/ lemania movement...i just randomly clicked the trade forum and this one popped up...right place, right time?!...i guess?!...pix from the sale below... any info on the model and/or the details of this rep and/or details of the gen it is repped from is appreciated... the seller has two ss bracelets he plans to show me pix of later tonite...he say one of them is "regular" and one is "riveted"...suggestions on which one i should get for this watch?... i know little about these watches - but i like the vintage thang -- and needed to have a Rlx in my collection...some of you may recall that i recently bought a vintage/aged/worn 6239 Daytona PN black exotic dial w/ poljot movement...so i see this white dial chrono for sale and bounced on it... the crown is broken from the stem, so i'll have to get that fixed...any advice on how to fix this?... thanks all... R-
  9. found this picture of a gen with black leather...(from a uk dealer) did a quick side-by-side of the gen (left) and my rep (right)... now i can see some of the other diffs: fonts, lume dots on dial, etc... still nice, though!...and not noticeable unless someone is eyeing it very closely... R-
  10. thanks freddy...i am considering going the polishing route first...the watch has a sizeable "scuff" mark on the dial that kinda obsures the dial and casts a shadow...i'd like to get that out of there...the cracks, and other minor scratches are fine aging marks...i bought it b/c of it's condition, the movement - and don't plan to do much...i do like the idea of trying out a black alligator strap and buckle...need to see that...is there a rep "rolex" logo'd buckle when these watches are put on leather? i followed the lead above on the clark crystal - but none were listed for sale...i contacted them for a 25-21 - so i wait... I've learned of some of the differences between this model rep and gen: case size 37mm gen vs. 36mm rep, non-sym gen vs. sym rep, poljot movement affecting the placement of the 3 and 9 subdials on the black dial, thinner caseback gen vs. thicker caseback rep, edged crystal gen vs. rounded crystal rep...what other differences are there for this model PN?...you referenced "fonts"...what else... why is the caseback larger if the poljot movement is manual wind and doesn't need the height of a rotor?...is it just a rep-maker discretion thang?!... R-
  11. @alligoat --> any idea what material this crystal is?...will it polish?...thanks for the lead on where to get a crystal cheaply... @addingwatch --> any idea when this rep was made/sold?...you had one in 2000?!...wow...you think this was made in the 90's?!...you're right that the current crystal has a rounded edge...is there a way to measure the crystal quickly?...i haven't experience is taking a watch apart (yet)...i assume the bezel bops off to expose the crystal...how do i measure it accurately?...does the watch have the higher stance due to the poljot movement?...i would have thought that being a manual wind, it doesn't need the height of a movement that has a rotor...i have not taken the caseback off yet...any suggestions on a gator strap/buckle?...i would prefer it have a worn'ish kind of look to go with the watch... the cracks add to the aging...as do the marks, bezel, etc...if the crystal's scuff could be buffed out, that might hold me over...and at less than $20usd for a t-21 at the site referenced above, i might just try it... i love the distressed look of this watch...and it's rarity is cool...add the poljot movement and i think i scored a good deal... R-
  12. I just recently bought a vintage Daytona that needs some work...it has the Poljot (3133) movement...is 36mm and has the higher caseback... I am reaching out to get some information on this model rep...Understandably, it's rare...Nearest from what i can find, it is from 2002-2004 or earlier...I am trying to learn about this particular model rep watch...The watch is vintage - yet has a lot of wear-aging on it...Info on this specific model rep and also any history of the actual gen model it reflects... It runs great; but needs some cosmetic work -- possibly, repaint the bezel markers and it needs a new crystal... Any help/suggestions on this would be appreciated... I have scoured RWG, RWI, RG, etc and can't seem to find any pictures of this exact model and/or the movement...i don't have an opener, so i can't take the back off...the watch really just needs a litttle sprucing up to be close to "perfect vintage"...lol...the bezel is missing some paint (but i notice a few members have this same condition, so am wondering if i should attempt a re-paint or not)...and the crystal has some hairline cracks near 10 and an omega-logo size scuff on the middle of the dial between 2 and 3...i have stumbled upon t-21 crystals ( i think?!) - but i'm not sure if it take a T-21 crystal or not -- this watch does measure roughly at 36mm and i hear the gen is 37mm...a relative newbie to daytonas, but love this watch...help appreciated... I am attaching some pictures... Here's the info from the seller below: For sale an interesting rare little Daytona 6239 with smooth pushers and black exotic dial. This watch is out of production and quite impossible to find. - Powered by a more than honorable Poljot manual movement, keeps great time (much more reliable than a Mystery DW) - 36 mm case that fits the 19mm bracelet (logo on clasp, plain links) - Pushers are NOT asymetrical on this watch. - Correct twinlock crown - you will also notice the slightly thicker case back - Frozen handle on 12 hour subdial - Chrono resets perfectly - The dial is very crisp, with grooved sub dials. - You will notice the slightly shifted position of all the sub dials to the left: one is closer from the edge than the right one: that's the Poljot syndrome! - The case shows some extensive polishing, the engraved bezel lacks some paint in the engraving - The crystal has three cracks between 10 and 11 O'clock. Not broken though, they are about 3 mm long, only visible on a certain angle. Thanks...R-
  13. nice pix, Nump!... still waiting on my black rubber strap from watcheden and my orange bezel'd PO... still thinking of putting the black rubber with the orange, and keeping the ss on the black... but Nump's pix of black on black keeps me guessing...will prob switch from time2time...
  14. very cool...i love VC watches... would be tough to choose between this one and the new chronographe...(good thing i don't have to?!...lol)
  15. bumping this thread in honor of Shundi's avatar "straps"... hmmmm...i do wonder if your avatar is a rep or gen?!...or where the location of the He valve is?!...
  16. three points... 1) it's FARRRRRRRR from a canal street rep... 2) i hear you...and understand that one might think if they got it right, they would sell more...but (see #3) 3) this is obviously a watch that was assembled with components already on-hand...it's simple economics...they used what they had - sunk costs; to make a hybrid'ish model...(i.e. the clasp is from the 45mm PO with "Professional" on it)...or used the tooling setup (i.e teeth on the 42mm cut like the 45mm)... they figure if they make a nice one, most people won't notice the details some on this board do...obviously i don't know the "market research" the suppliers do (laughing as i type this!)...the market of repli-perfection buyers is probably a lot smaller (sarcasm implied) than the average joe who wants to buy a nice quality rep with a hallowed brand name.... this watch will sell volumes at a value-price...hence a LOT of profit for them...(ya think there aren't tons of members buying this watch from Narikaa b/c of it's value proposition?!) an example: the Ebel Discovery is 99.5% accurate but costs 3x this watch...the volume of sales is low...hence, higher price to maintain profits... i would lastly counter that the frenzy on this board is not just for 42mm PO...but rather you are seeing it's for a good quality/great value rep - from a respected dealer...... enjoy - R
  17. @all -- i would suggest that sizing and/or removal be done by a jeweller or watchsmith...much easier...and have them take care to keep an eye on the sleeve inside the middle link that keeps the three links connected... @all -- the lume is quite good...especially the hands...it obviously isn't superlume, but it lasts a good amount of time...
  18. wheels on the car should have 12 spokes, mirrors are 0.25 inches off, shade of gray is not pantone-perfect, cobblestones are not ceramic, "astin martin" font should be Arial... watch looks perfect, tho... (nice montage, my friend!)
  19. i get that this forum has diff type of members: modders, repli-maniacs looking for perfection, etc... it seems that sometimes the repli-m's forget that some of us just like watches, buy for the design/features and VALUE... @TM --> i agree, too, this is a great watch for the money...and am awaiting for my orange bezel'd piece to arrive this week... the only thing better than this watch, is having two of them...
  20. since i started the Narikaa PO thread, let me share with you why i did... this is a damn nice watch - nice quality, look, feel...and at $95usd, it's a steal...yes - it's not accurate...but let me say...it has a nice dial, decent single AR, nice engraving, nice bracelet, etc, etc...whether or not the hands are a freaking millimeter off is not the point of why people like this rep...it's a great watch with nice detail AT A GREAT PRICE...and it's 42mm... there's a lot of good quality in this great VALUE rep... R-
  21. perhaps Reg can hire Michael Phelps as his official "Narikaa" Omega 42mm PO spokesman...
  22. there's many threads on this topic already...you might want to search thru them... VC Malte Chronographe (search thru posts for this one - RobbieG has a few posts on this great watch...) (you might also want to add some specificity on size, shape, dial details (guilloche, color, subdials/chronos, classic/modern, etc, etc)
  23. @TeeJay and others... I enjoy working with watcheden (tony, sarah, etc)...but i have had a few wrong watches sent...this seems to be an issue when there are new/old versions of a similar watch... i contacted tony on my glashutte issue and they understood, were apologetic AND offered to ship my replacement items before receiving my return -- as long as i send them a tracking number...i am a "good" customer and i'm sure that's why...a very nice gesture in a world of mistrust, ya know?!... the biggest frustration with mis-orders is the turnaround time... even though, i've had a few issues, it won't stop me buying from them again...
