  1. RobbieG -- I'm with you...very nice choice!... i, too, like WG, but it does look great in RG with the strap they have on it... R-
  2. just found a pix of the IWC 325106... and Mr. TT is right-on with his look at the rep... thanks!...R
  3. what do you think of it?...what do you think it's worth?...$50usd?
  4. @Spidey...good question!...i, too, would like to know for future purchase consideration... @others...thanks...and yes - they are $50ish usd... i go for the "look"...watches that are interesting...especially at this price...seriously, no one i know (or practically no one in my circle) would know whether the watch is real or not...most wouldn't even recognize the brand...i do, beleive the real issue with these, is quality and reliability...that is of concern, of course...just learning, i am...
  5. I have the option to buy these three Patek watches.. I am looking for any details on these movements... 1) Patek dual-time, flyback seconds 2) Patek day/date/month/year classic (distressed condition, needs work...a project watch) 3) Patek black dial day/date/moonphase Thanks...R
  6. I have an option to buy this IWC...the owner has no details... Anyone with knowledge of this model, please let me know... 1) is it a real model or fantasy? 2) what movement is this? Any other thoughts/comments? Thanks - R
  7. @RobbieG...I agree on the size...I have a 7 1/4 " wrist and like to wear my watches slightly loose...i decided and pulled the trigger last nite on the 42mm black/white version thru Narikaa...very reasonable price and the watch looks great...(at least to me!)...i plan to source a 42mm black rubber strap, too...i just can't seem to find a 42mm version of the strap (20mm, i beleive)...is this 20mm strap only avail as a gen?... as the price is reasonable for the watch, i think you're right...adding a relume and AR will add much to the watch...and still keep the total cost to under $220usd...i don't have the skills to remove a crystal to send to Chief...in the past he recommended i send the watch to vaclume who could coordinate the mods...i contacted vaclume via gmail, but haven't heard from him...will have to reach out to him again, i guess...i live in USA... thanks for the great info and advice... i am pysched for the 42mm PO to arrive... R-
  8. @RobbieG...your watch pix inspired me to get the black/white...thank you for the excellent shots - especially the wristshot...do you have a source for a 20mm PO black rubber strap...i haven't been able to find one...and would like a nice one...and thanks for the AR tip... i can wear a 45mm one, but i think the 42.5 is more versatile...as is the black/white combo...
  9. Ordering a 42mm PO and having a hard time choosing which black bezel model: 1) orange/red 6, 9, 12 numbers 2) white 6, 9, 12 numbers Feeling that black w/white balances the times i need it to be a bit more formal...and it looks amazing with black rubber - whenever they get around to making a 20mm PO strap - which eventually I think we'll see...would look sporty with black leather and white stitched strap...even with the steel bracelet, it's very clean/sleek with black/silver/white being the only color schemes... Feeling that the black w/orange/red draws a little (i said, a little?!) attention away from the watch - in either steel bracelet or black rubber...but, i think it would look sharp with a black leather strap with orange/red stitching...this combo would really sport it out... While I like the orange/red bezel model, i wouldn't wear it as much as a black bezel one...hence my interest in only these two models... What do you all think?
  10. @rek001 --> I checked out the white discovery model that colin778 has...i liked it, but i felt the chronos were a little too tightly clustered...i love the panda discovery...By-Tor's pictures really highlight this watch... @TT --> watch the black/red models...some have rubber pushers and some don't...and some have a slightly different 3 o'clock subdial with many tick marks on the ring of it...i like the rubber pushers... @By-Tor --> your posts were inspirational...thanks for all your effort... i also really like the white/yellow hand model...but to me, it's needs the silver bezel...and with a stainless steel bracelet...i haven't found this combo -- yet?!... i just had to get the TT version...not thrilled with the strap...but, you don't always have all the combos available to you...that's why i went for the black version...i wanted the steel bracelet to put on the TT...i know i can always put a sport strap on the black one...even a black with red stitching strap... my guess is these won't be here for some time...with the new year...waiting is the hardest thang!... (at least my SMP Bond comes this week...
  11. Inspired by Deltick's "Ebel addiction" thread: After much thought and countless looks at the various options, i ordered 2 Ebels today...yes, 2!...how could i not?!...for $100usd, i got both thru cqout...a trusted dealer... 1) TT: SS case w/RG bezel, RG markers/hands/crowns/pushers/etc with a white dial...burgundy/red standard rep moo-croc strap...i haven't seen this model anywhere else...this watch is a great blend of classy and sporty... 2) SS: black dial, black bezel, red hands...stainless steel bracelet...notice the rubber ends on this model's crowns/pushers... I really like the white dial, yellow hands, SS bezel, stainless bracelet model...but i couldn't turn down the TT white dial version... I'm even thinking i might put the red strap on the black dial model to highlight the red hands on the dial and put the stainless bracelet on the TT model...mix and match... This watch is a great find...at a great price...enjoy...R
  12. Deltick and others -- Dials and Bezels?!?!...After looking at Ebel's until my eyes are glassy , i seem to have sorted out my preference... I am wondering what others think... Looking at the quartz versions, with the stainless steel bracelet, I feel that that these are the best combos: 1. white dial, polished ss bezel 2. black dial, black bezel Thoughts?!... Re: Ebel 1911 Discovery chronograph automatic - anyone know where to get one similar to the one in By-Tor's excellent pinned review?... R-
  13. Does the Omega black rubber strap on the 45mm Planet Ocean fit the 42.5mm?...(can't seem to find the lug size) If so, suggestions on where to source one?
  14. thanks for the suggestion... approx how much do they cost?...is there a good source for gens?
  15. nice hat-trick!... i have the grey dial with black rubber... been thinkin of a blue dial with dark blue/navy leather with white stiching...that, i think, would look sharp... R-
  16. great collection!...quite the range of choice for a daily rotation...well done...love the UN, 1900's and Omega PO...sharp!... so tell me.....this rep addiction turns into a gen addiction?!?!?!?... yikes...better start encrypting my rwg interest from the Mrs............... R-
  17. calling all you ebel fans, out there... any advice/commentary on the 4 ebel quartz models i listed?...going quartz for this one... kinda leaning toward the white face dial...and even though the steel bracelet is sharp, i like the brown leather with yellow stitching...nice detail... and with the face almost all white, with various textured dials, i think it looks quietly sporty/elegant... R-
  18. Deltick - very nice collection...i think the quartz models are soooooo sweet... Of the five in your picture, which one do you feel is the best combination?...i know this is a matter of taste, but i am curious if you have a preference... i am looking at three quartz models right now and having a hard time deciding... 1) black dial, red hands, polished steel bezel, steel bracelet 2) black dial, red hands, black bezel, black leather strap with red stitching 3) white dial, yellow hands, polished steel bezel, dark brown leather strap with yellow stitching 4) white dial, yellow hands, black bezel, steel bracelet... i know these ebels have a nice steel bracelet, but i am leaning toward #3 above...second choice is #4, above...i can't find #3 with a steel bracelet...in quartz...have you seen this combination?...likewise, the black dial, black bezel, steel band with either red or yellow hands - but i prefer yellow dial...have you seen this combo, too?... how is the AR on these models?...if it's light AR, i'm figuring the white dials will have less reflection than the black ones... is the black bezel a rubber'ish compond?... where did you source yours...i am looking at watcheden... thanks for your help/advice/etc... anyone else with a preference, please weigh in... R-
  19. what watch box?!?!... you guys have it all wrong...
  20. are you saying that the blue dial, blue bezel, 007 inscribed dial should not have a 007 second hand? any recommendations on an asian version from a dealer that is acceptable?...the best of the lower cost versions?
  21. answer: The center link has a sleeve...the pin goes through the middle... It doesn't matter which direction you push...
  22. i am looking at a member purchase of an SMP 007 Bond watch - blue dial and bezel, 007 printed dial, 007 second hand... i have spent a lot of time looking with the "search", reading posts, scanning pictures, and reviewing various dealer websites and cannot seem to find this version... this is a new watch that a member is selling -- he sources and sells...this is an a21j version...the back - which i do not hav a picture of say 007 edition; but isn't the limited edition back...i haven't seen the back on any dealer site...the watch is $110usd delivered... i contacted a respected rwg member via pm to get his insights...i thank him!...he suggested i post this here and ask those Omega experts for their comments on this version...what is right, what is wrong...etc, etc.. thanks... R-
  23. ....anyone else thinking about the Fireman's avatar with all this talk of freezing cold?!?!?!?...
  24. ya know...it depends on soooo many factors...wear i live, people will notice it as a "nice watch"...most only know media-hyped brands like rolex and tag...breitling?...probably not...AP, VC, Breguet, A.Lange& Sohne, IWC, Panerai, etc, etc -- 99% of the circle of people i befriend, work with, socialize with, have never heard of these brands...so for the most part, i get "that's a nice watch"...which i simply say "thank you"... could i wear a rolex, tag or breitling in my social circle?...sure...i don't own a tag...i will own a rolex after i complete a datejust deal in a couple weeks - roman numerals, silvber dial, ostrich strap...my breitlings draw attention b/c of their size and quality; nopt necessarily b/c they are known to be expensive...since i wear a sfso or skyland - they fit my persona - and my social status would say "sure, he could own one"... i own a hublot, iwc, vacheron constantin, a.lange&sohne, a breguet deal in process and a gen poljot deal in process...i can guarantee you that 98% of the people i interact with will only recognize the rolex... i have attended board meetings in NYC where i know the directors/investors could/would know watches...so, i never wear a hyper-expensive watch like a VC, Breguet, Lange, etc...i will wear a watch like a breitling or something else that most woud think fit my "level".... i'm seriously not all about me...i wear watches as an accessory -- something i enjoy...i have a tissot t-touch and a suunto observer that can tell you altitude and barometric pressure, blah, blah, blah...and many of my friends/colleagues like that these watches look great and "do things"... all in all - i mix gens and reps...and enjoy them...but i am careful when i'm going to a place where i think there are people that might know a VC, IWC, Lange, Hublot, etc...when i'm with a "professional crowd" i wear something "appropriate" that doesn't draw attention... to me...these watches are about design, function and quality...they are for me...and i don't have to justify "me" to anyone other than "me"... (wearing a friggin IWC Ingy on black leather, sipping a glass of merlot, typing to you all on a laptop, as i watch some mindless crapola on my 60" low-key SONY...) R-
  25. the VCO review link was a hand-off from another member on RWG --- at a time when i was researching the VCO... "we're all in this together"...so it was a pleasure to assist...that's what this forum is all about... good luck and look forward to how you make out... btw - not sure if it's your style or not...but i bought a VC 1755 Jubilee, SS with black leather strap...this watch is a tremendous buy at less than $100usd -- and it looks amazing...very elegant watch, really reflects the light, and great size...a VCO is still on my list but i am reaching my "quota"... enjoy...
