Swapped out the Pepsi insert for the black FF service insert (with the more correct font for this mk 5 dial build). The Pepsi insert will go into the Type C gilt dial/PCG build and is more correct for that watch.

Clarification... meant to say (in the OP) the movement is a Swiss 2846 converted to GMT.

As you can see in the last pic, the hands patina is closer to the plots patina compared to the first pic. Because the lume in the hands has a smooth semi-gloss finish, they tend to be a little reflective , so can look lighter depending on the angle of bright light on the surface. This doesn't happen with the plots as that lume is a flat textured finish. As for the bezel I agree, it's still new and was never polished. I may remove it at some point and finish it. At the moment I'm focused on a 1675 PCG build, so refinement of the OP watch is on hold.

Shipped on Sat., arrived on Tues... gotta love DHL's service! Fit and finish has come a long way since the first Deepseas hit the rep market. This one will probably get OEM hands, dw, crown and possibly inner AR. Also a Yuki movement with the requisite service and OEM upgrades... stay tuned. The dial I can live with,... for now the dial finish is improved too.

It all started 7 years ago when I sold a minty 24a mid-case with xtal (first pic of the case hoard I bought off ebay, 24a case upper left next to a 28a case). I then spent the next couple of years asking myself "WTF??? why did I sell it???" Interesting history with the 16800. Introduced around 1979 with the following changes to the 1680 • first Sub to get a sapphire crystal • first Sub to get the 3035 movement and quick-set date • went from a 660' depth rating to 1000' • first Sub to get the 120 click uni-bezel • Tritium insert pearl with surround For the first couple of years, Rolex continued to use the matte dial and open lume. In 1983/4 they went with the gloss dial and lume with metal surrounds. These new gloss dials had problems with cracking aka spider dials. Thanks to fellow member and Rolex aficionado HotDuck for pointing me in the direction of the 16800 after hearing about my frustration trying to find a good deal on an all original 1680. Insert pearl and hands are just starting to develop some patina. No more glow.
