Dial and hands are gen as well as the crown, strap and buckle...
Then The Zigmeister took all of the ingredients (5 parts gen mixed with 5 parts rep) to another level!

As it's new custodian I added an OEM buffalo strap and gen B series buckle. Decided that since it's now on the opposite coast that some pics taken in the left coast glow of the setting sun seemed appropriate to show off The Zigmeister's mastery.

Ahh... now I see what you are referring to. Got out my Opti-Visor and compared gen vs. T48 and you're suspicions were correct. Camera distortion can definitely factor in when shooting smaller objects that require one to get in close. The parallax effect comes into play. Add to that fresh cut teeth vs. slightly worn plus shiny highlights. When doing the side by side it made me consider hitting the top of the T48 teeth with some 1200 grit (very lightly) to induce some winding wear, knock down the sharpness ever so slightly.

The gen crowns for the a/b series are not squared off... there is typically a slight bevel. Auto crowns are usually more squared off. And reps crowns seem to have gone from a little too much bevel to a little too sharply squared off lately. The T48's, both the ss and ti that I have, are absolutely 1:1.
I'll try to post a direct comparison pic later today.

Well judging from the comparison with this gen pic and the next to last pic in FGD's post, I'd say using his 201a dial is a "no brainer".
Look at the 6 and 9 plus the thickness... "damn near perfect or better"?
Absolutely!

You should have only seen RG on your screen for 2-3 seconds before being taken to the book sight. And don't you think you might be over-reacting just a tiny bit?
I assumed folks would appreciate the link, not complain about it.
But to avoid upsetting anyone else, I corrected the problem(?).

Pictures from each chapter in 3 languages... just click on the sample page links at the bottom of the home page. The ultimate reference. I've nearly worn mine out this past year I've had it. The photography is beautiful.

That's a lot of watch for $183 shipped. Cannon pin fix and Francisco's decals for the movement and you're done. Thanks for the review and great pics!

Thought I'd pass along some pics I found on the net last night. They show the different stages of production that I thought some of you would find interesting... enjoy!

Finally got a little break in the studio today and took some more quick pics. They're pretty accurate to how the dial looks in person. Amazing work VDB... the entire watch is vintage perfection!

I'll get a chance to take more pics when I'm in the studio tomorrow. I'll try to have them up by tomorrow evening or first thing Tuesday morning.

When I saw this dial it was all over for me (may not be everyone's cup of tea). This is just a quick macro... actual color is just slightly more burnt red, but I was shooting in overcast conditions. More pics of the entire watch once I get back to the studio. 6152/1 Cortebert/Rolex 616. Enjoy.

Here is a link to pics and a description of the rep case set that is going to be produced... it's pretty amazing. 2 dials will be repped (Cali and 3646) as well to go with it. I got to photograph the gen dials to use as reference. All the pics are of rep parts!

Great pics... my first VDB creation just arrived in country and hopefully will make it here by Wed. Your post has raised my anticipation to another level. Thanks Dani.
I see your 28 peeking around the corner... nice lume.

You guys are right... leave it alone and let the age and patina reign. Down the road I always have the option to go minty (I have a feeling that I probably won't).
Now I'm making myself crazy trying to decide on the right strap/buckle...

I knew that the PAM 195's were DLC'd... wasn't aware of any other contemporaries. I held up the gen case next to my DLC'd 4B rep and it was very, very close... almost exact amount of sheen as well. And a big THANKS re. the crown!
