  1. Just seen this .. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...-make-over.html Complaints about an OBL lego figure (the fact that on the actual site there is no mention of OBL). http://www.brickarms.com/Toys/minifigs/bandit_white.aspx Typical UK media hype They even do a James Bond figure, no watch though ..
  2. I saw this on another forum the other day : http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/Comex-S...3477-watch.aspx Is that an average price for a Comex?
  3. (I'll PM you tonight Steve about getting my watch to you)
  4. Are they not basically rep Panerais with a diff dial?
  5. I gathered there where loads after having a scan of the dealers. I was just hoping for a topic with explanations of 'luminor' or 'radiomir' etc, as I've no clue I notice that the 'radiomir' doesn't have a crown guard (is this the main diff?). I prefer the ones with the guard. My Skyland is a 44mm, and it feels nicely large but not OTT. I prefer the ones with a blank bezel area too, but I like sub dials. The power reserve looks nice. On a bracelet. Basically, I'm after something a bit smarter, classic looking and dressier than my Breitlings. The clear caseback is not important. For teh time being
  6. Hey guys, I origionally came here for a Breitling, but I'm now attracted to a Panerai. In the Breitling section there is a good guide to the watches and models, and how they compare to the Gens. I can find nothing for the Panerai range, am I just not looking hard enough? I'm getting lost with all the numbers being thrown about. Can someone point me to a guide/FAQ please?
  7. But imaging having one of the first Omegas or Rolexes ? I'm not into gold watches, but it does look nice.
  8. It looked to work the first time, but then didn't when I went to pay
  9. and a hand has fallen off the subdial.
  10. Another Aussie. Welcome! It is a good place here, hard to find any reliable information on the net. The forum is full of great stuff!
  11. I too am not too happy about posting stuff. But if it's the only way, it'll have to be done. I'm half tempted to DIY .. but I don't have the time at the moment.
  12. I hadn't, but I will now. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Well I've spoken to another watchsmith (Hartley Wintney - Hook, Hapmshire). Happy with reps, but they are looking at
  14. I thought Bini's were popular, and as I'm commuting in the dark they are easy to spot due to their side lights. I thought I'd keep a mental note of how many I saw. Counted 9 on the way home last night, 18 on the way in this morning, and 4 in works car park! Wow. In 15 miles, and they were the ones I noticed. BMW must be laughing. Shame it wasn't a British company (Rover) who could have done it. They are re-vamping the convertable too now. http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/28112008/36/new-m...nleashed-0.html With a "roof down odometer" .. weird, and strangly cool!
  15. Most my watches have been 'normal' sized, till I got a Storm Navigator as a gift. Now I've got a Skyland, the rest seem tiny compared. I am 6'4" but quite thin, ~168lb. But as I wear it on the inside of my wrist, it's hard to see.
  16. Welcome! I'm an aussie, but currently in the UK. Once I upgrade the girlfriend to a wife, I'll be back down there, but over in Perth.
  17. I need to get the tools to pull the backs off watches now. I also think i need to have a play and see how far in the future the date goes (I know it rolls over at some point). Strange how little information there is out there though. If it's not a calculator watch or a TV remote, there is nothing. Thanks again for the info.
  18. Thanks very much .. looking now Quick pic (warning, it's a bit big). http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g54/Bibb...24112008155.jpg Least it didn't fail with the millenium bug EDIT. I notice the site is in Australia, funny, as that's were the watch was bought! Nice pic of it unused. I'd like to get an origional strap for it but it's discontinued (the strap was stolen off a watch my father owned when the rubber one tore), and I think the light in it has died
  19. Well I found a group of my old watches (Storm, Pulsar, Adidas etc.) and I found an old digital watch from the early 80's I had. I've had a hunt on the net for it, but I can't find any info. It's a "Sports 150" M422 501A (according to the case back). I can only find one referance to it on the net, and that's a broken image link. Anyone have any links/sites where I can get more info about this 80's digital Seiko?
  20. I PM'ed a member about Skyland dials. Apparently hard to find, the Super Avenger is a bit easier apparently.
  21. I'll say that not many of the "girls" have the top spec ones I am a bit of a Porsche fanboy (since being taken round Germany in a Yellow 924 by my father when I was a wee child, he then had one of the first 924 Turbos and then a 944 for a breif period before divorce reared it's head). 911's here in the UK are seen in a bad light too, but I love them. After a week in Germany racing, you even get bored of the GT3/RS's as they are so common. Even had the pleasure of being overtaken by an RT12 on the track. The BMW 3series and 911 (usually base specs de-badged) was an aspitational thing, usually bought on credit from remortgaging the house. I think it'll change in the next 12 months though. But then quite a few people go potty over the base spec Mustangs here. And when you realise the price we were paying for them (even before the current
  22. Glad you didn't take it in the wrong way. They are good cars, I've seen quite a few at the Nurburgring when I've been hammering around. Shame the early cars had louder PAS pumps than superchargers. It's just funny how the image is different from the US to the UK. Like the BMW 3 Series. In the UK it has a certain image associated with it, a stigma if you will. But in the US, the BMW is adored.
  23. I really don't get the Bini (BMW Mini). I've driven a few over the years and they are expensive for what they are. Like the new Fiat 500 and VW Beetle. There are 5 in the office carpark, out of 50ish cars. All driven by women. Very popular with the hairdresser, estate agent, recruitment consultant set in the UK. But then I know european cars are popular in the states, to stand out from the crowd.
