  1. I tend to shy away from spammers. Through the letterbox, and my email. I hate it, so I put my custom elsewhere.
  2. Have a read of the sticky .. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=12678 There are details on it and a review etc .. Actually by Shultz and coments by The Zigmeister.
  3. I'm looking for a UK based one too. I've put up details of a place in Wokingham (near-ish) that I've been advised will do the work. I've crossed the two local ones off already. One was "My father-in-laws eyesight isn't good enough to do the chrono's anymore" The other "No".
  4. Right .. I've been told by a mate (who is an old member off here too). Wellingtons 24, Market Place, Wokingham, Berkshire RG40 1AP Tel: 0118 978 2162 I've had NO contact with them, and know nothing about them. Just speaking to TomHighway about servicing too.
  5. It is causing me to wait till after Xmas before I look at buying any more.
  6. Maybe we need a group buy! A watchsmith should be able to, but it's a hands off job. Try and get is lubed/serviced at the same time. The two watchsmiths I went to on Sat were not helpful, so it looks like I'll be off to a place in Wokingham.
  7. Cheers. I've fired off a few emails, but no replies as yet.
  8. Wow, that looks great. How much do the gen dials cost? I'll have to see if I can source one in the UK!
  9. Not heard anything as I've no dealings, but where is he based?
  10. I'm all new to this too I did a bit of searching and reading before ordering two Breitlings with the Asian 7750. I think it's the equivalent of buying 4 Fiats instead of one Ferrari .. well, almost, now that Ferrari's are built better and less fragile. But you get my gist. I think finding a local watchsmith, who is happy to work on reps is the first step. Then service the movements, and then think "feck it" as it's only a cheap watch at the end of the day.
  11. Yup .. Have a look at at the following two watches (as an example). http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=1243 http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...roducts_id=1029 Note the main diff is Swiss/Asia 7750, then look at the price diff. The Swiss is what the Gen's use, the Asia is the cheap copy. The problem is that ETA, who makes the Swiss one, has opened a factory in China .. so are those Swiss or Asia movements? Have a browse in the The Zigmeister section, there are a few detailed posts about the 7750. Loads more details than I could ever remember. I have enough problem pronouncing 'valjoux'.
  12. If you paid more (or a premium) for a "Swiss" movement, yes.
  13. Yup, we seem to have a copy of the 7750. A gen 7750 would double the price of the watch. I'm looking for a friendly local place (in the UK) to get work on mine done. I've got details of a place in Wokingham who is happy to work on watches, but I've moved away from that area and am looking for another watchsmith.
  14. Well, instead of doing that, I've put a rubber strap on my Skyland (recieved from Roge21). Wow it feels lighter and comfier. May swap the Skyland Bracelent over to the Blackbird now, if I can't get a proper rep bracelet. Before : After :
  15. Think he's saying that he doesn't sell the movement separate. The only issue with your watch is the alignment of the date wheel. Nothing wrong with the movement itself. And the datewheel sits on top of the movement, so he's saying it doesn't need to be opened for the replacement. (all how I read it.)
  16. Totally style over substance. That is the whole Apple brand. The hardware isn't the best, the software isn't the best .. but it's got a logo, and that makes it okay A mate has been raving about his iPhone. It cost him a fortune, expensive contract and isn't anything 'special' from what I can tell. My N95 phone was free (on a lower contract) and runs TomTom, bluetooths to my car for calls and and is a good mp3 player via BT - none of which the iPhone could do. I'd rather something work properly (Microsoft/Nokia), than be gimmicky and cool (Apple).
  17. Hey guys, well after a week of wearing my Blackbird on the std leather strap I've decided I'd like the bracelet ("Breitling Pilot 22mm Bracelet" - 371A) for it instead. (Because I wear my watch on the inside, the deployment clasp digs into the top of my wrist) Do the dealers/collectors supply just the bracelets? The gen one is about twice the price of the watch Anyone want to do a trade in the UK/EU?
  18. Been an "IT Professional" for a while now. Started programming on an Apple IIe in the 80's, and then moved onto the first Gen of MAC. That was the last time I used one. That will hopefully not change. I've been using Unix and MS since. I have 1 Apple product. A sh*te iPod that is packed in a box somewhere. I really don't like them.
  19. I think the Super Avenger is nice, I'm not sure about it on my wrists. I do like it with the UTC on the bracelet too, but I've seen that it's the least accurate rep. The SO is nice, but I'm not 100% on that either. I've studied that guide, and am constantly refering back to it when browsing. I think my first step will be to pay for membership on my next pay day first
  20. Gotcha ! From the pics I couldn't see a diff apart from the colour. So it's the size that marks the diff in the models, but they can have similar dials. Nice. Thanks for your comments.
  21. I do like the BCE. The fact there isn't a very accurate Navtimer puts me off at the moment (I know the BB isn't 100% either, but it's close). I'd not go down the Bently route, until there is a Bently on the drive.
  22. I've always liked Breitlings .. and now I've got two reps. The Skyland was the first, nice and blingy. The Blackbird was the second, bit smarter, esp with the leather strap. What should be my third (with a rubber sports strap)? Ben.
