Just seen this. Hope she's okay! Any news on what happened? Will leave it a while before chasing you regards my query
  2. Will add it here, any one know of a watch smith out on the west coast?
  3. Okay, I like the look of this watch and it looks like there are three versions. $150 for a quartz. $430 for a brushed steel. $660 for a Ti. Is the only big "tells" on the Ti one, the markings around the area of the date window and the hour markers? I've has a search, but couldn't find anything specific for this model. Cheers, B
  4. Well I asked, and was told no. The SS has not been updated. Shame as I really like it ..
  5. I got two of mine serviced in London. Drop me a PM if you want details. Was about a 2 week turn around.
  6. I can't see why it wouldn't. Any way to find out if/when, as it's a gift I need at the end of the year? Mail Trusty and co?
  7. Hey guys, I'm after an Evo with the Roman numeral dial. But they all appear to have gold tabs, links, crown and pushers. Is there a version like this in just Steel? Or would that be a fantasy model? I've looked at Trusty's site, and can't see one. The reason I want to avoid it is if it peels/wears it'll look cheap. (just looked at the Breitling website, and it looks like they do a version without the gold tabs - now I need to find the rep)
  8. Ta, just need a better camera (damn mobiles with zero zoom). I think a chunky Navi to set the lot off will be next.
  9. After picing up a Blackbird and a Skyland, I thought I'd get something a bit more formal. A SuperOcean Heritage. Am thinking I'll get one for the BestMan and one for the FatherInLaw at my wedding over Christmas. It's a loverly watch, and looks smaller worn due to the black bezel. A very nice watch! Thanks to Nigel (Fireman_Fred).
  10. I doubt it, otherwise we wouldn't have different versions of reps at the same time (like the Skyland - 3 versions, 2 current). If they were the same factory, they'd be the same watch. I believe that each version is the same factory.
  11. Awesome work so far. Just wish I could help.
  12. Didn't realise there were two plates. In which case you could cut the first plate with a thin gap (for the spacers), and the top plate with a bigger gap (the same width as the datewheel) so the date wheel is recessed/flush with the top of the movement. But yes, I can't see the issue apart from it being very small tollerances, and the pulling apart for later servicing. If the movement was the size of a dinner plate it'd be easy! Good luck, I can't see any *major* issues apart from time. (I'd mentioned doing this a few months back, and didn't get a reply)
  13. Just a quick Q. Could you not cut the top plate into two rings. A centre ring (that keeps the cogs in place) and an outer ring. Then the inned edge of the outer ring (and the outer edge of the inner ring) could be thinned for a date wheel sized recess. Then there could be a gap between. This gap would be over the current datewheel. Then a few spacers, and another datewheel on top.
  14. Would be interested to see what conclusions are made.
  15. I'd not seen this on browsing here .. http://englishrussia.com/?p=2631#more-2631
  16. It makes me sound knowledgeable, but it's only due to me forking out for an engagement ring the last few months. And if you could make 90% of the movement out of it, that would be very cool. Clear movement and dial, thn add blue coloured hands, red datewheels and green markers ..
  17. They have a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale (Diamonds are 10), and Emeralds are a different stone. "Oriental Emeralds" are green sapphires And factory made sapphires are cheap as anything. It's only natural ones that are worth anything really.
  18. I really don't like the leather straps. I've a Skyland on rubber on my wrist now and it's fine. But for me it's bracelets most of the time.
  19. They look class .. do they tick along while wearing them?
  20. Welcome form another UK'er. Shame the pound is taking a beating at the moment, making them a bit more pricey. I keep looking and seeing others that I like. I've got to find a way of not buying one of each.
  21. Well, I'm not going to go quite that far Have a great day.
  22. No worries .. just thought as you are close-ish. Drop me a PM if you change your mind. And good luck with the wedding, I only got engaged on Wednesday, and am looking for a rep PAM for me and the best man. (both are black dialed)
  23. I've a Skyland and a Blackbird you could borrow? I've got the bracelets, a black leather strap or a rubber strap. I suppose the Blackbird on leather could be smart?
  24. So an average of $4615 a watch. Not bad.
