Jubilee bracelets can run from $15-20 for a rep bracelet: http://cgi.ebay.com/20MM-2-TONE-JUBILEE-BAND-BRACELET-FOR-ROLEX-DATEJUST_W0QQitemZ350257389038QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518cf79dee&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 to a couple of hundred for a gen: http://cgi.ebay.com/Factory-Rolex-14k-Gold-SS-JUBILEE-Bracelet-FOR-DATEJUST_W0QQitemZ330358723300QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item4ceaea12e4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 this one will probably go for at least $150. An '82 TT DJ would be like a 16013 and be 18kt gold, but the 14kt might work. You could also check Silix- he sells bracelets- it would at least have the Rolex crown on the clasp. But if the watch is gen, who cares if the bracelet is gen- tell 'em you took off the gen bracelet to keep from tearing it up.

If you're building a 5512, I'd stick to the 2836-2, or the 2846-2 if you want a slow beat. Don't waste a perfectly good Tudor movement on a Rolex rep. Not worth it IMO. Now building an early Tudor sub, that's OK.
-
The new dial looks very nice. From the pics, it definitely has more sparkle than the old dial. I'm assuming your old YM was the noob YM. A nice upgrade for a reasonable price. Congrats.
-
I agree with GS, both dials are fine. Yes the date window is larger on the MBW (WM9v1)dial, but we also know that the noob dial's date window is just a tad too small. Certainly the WM9v2 dial would be the best, or a (relumed) gen.
-
Ironicaly Libby, I have a 1966 gen 1500 witha white datewheel- closed 6's and 9's and round top 3's. Movement is the 1575. Don't know if the datewheel is original or not. I personally don't think Rolex cares as much about the datewheels as us OCD collectors.
-
Cases are slightly different due to the differences between the 3035 and 3135 movements. Rehaut on the 16610 is slightly deeper. The 168000 is the same case as the 16800, but out of the 904L steel. 16610 is also the 904L steel. 16800's and previous subs were 316L. Crystal, crown and tube and the later dials w/ the WG surrounds are the same. Bracelets were both 93150's, 593 ends on the 16800, 168000, 501B's on the 16610. 93250 bracelets came out around 2000.

Here's a 1575 with a redone Red Sub dial- not a bad price either: http://cgi.ebay.com/100-GENUINE-ROLEX-RED-SUBMARINER-1570-MOVEMENT-W-DIAL_W0QQitemZ170384700217QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item27abb83339&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 A Yuki case and a few other parts and away you go- oh, also figure a service- hope $250 covers the service!

That seller is very crafty, I wouldn't put it past him. You note in his description he was very careful not to make any false claims.
-
Interesting, I don't see a datewheel, so I'm thinking it's a 1570, not a 1575. Would work on a 5512. I've bought from Andrew in the past and I like to keep an eye out for his auctions. Some of those dials look nice.

I would think shipping back to DW would be pretty straight forward. Like Logan says, use tracking and declare it as a watch for repair. When I did it a few years ago, it wasn't cheap- $20-25, as I recall. But it is still less than a new movement and paying a watchmaker $30-40 to install it.

The 6694 datewheel is a new on me. I guess it has the same ETA progression and the flat-top 3's and open 6's and 9's, but is it on a silver background? slartiblast was doing a transfer project a few months back- the correct 1570 datewheel on a silver background- don't know what happened. My first rep from Paul was a DRSD and it had a silver datewheel, round-top 3's and open 6's and 9's- not too really bad for a GWSD http://www.pam111.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_56_72&products_id=44 My WM 1680 (basically an MBW) has the white wheel w/ the open 6's and 9's, roundtop 3's, it doesn't bother me anymore. Old datewheels with open 6's and 9's have pretty much disappeared, except on cheap reps. Slarti might be someone to chat with.

found the topic, same #, new forum address! Rolex diagram on page 3
-
According to my diagram, it's #319, maybe 319-16800-01 if I were to guess at a part #. I bought one on ebay 6 months ago for my gen 16800 for around $70, as I recall.

Well, I can see that Ubi's answer was kinda like what I figured might be the case. When you're dealing with WM9 and Euromariners, if you're going to swap out some bezel parts, you pretty much have to go the whole route. Mixing and matching probably won't work.
-
That's tough to answer. Maybe the bezel, the flat washer and the click spring would do it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Genuine-Rolex-Submariner-Bezel-16610_W0QQitemZ330361488303QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4ceb1443af&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Maybe you'd have to get the retaining ring also. Highoey was also looking for similar parts- wondering about buying from wholesaleoutlet990/watchbandman50, but that's always a gamble. http://cgi.ebay.com/BEZEL-INSERT-RETAINING-RING-FOR-SUBMARINER-BLACK_W0QQitemZ310151657930QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item48367ab9ca&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262 I guess you could always send the parts back if they didn't work...., but as Freddy says, the guys a weasel.
-
Sounds good to me. There is also a rubber gasket the goes under the retaining ring- my notes say PN 29-325-10, it's the same as the gasket for the caseback. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=26937 This was an old diagram of the Sub parts- don't know if it'll work or not. Edit: well it didn't work

Thanks, B-T. A very good read.
-
Nice DJ, Stephane. We definitely have similar tastes! Maybe I'll wear the DJ today and get out of the sub rut.
-
I agree with Carl. Oren, you're over-thinking the whole damn thing. Go buy a friggin watch. If you don't like it, buy another one and another one till you find one you like. But beware, there is no perfect rep. If you can't afford it, buy an Invicta and go swimming. And report back to us in a couple of weeks when you've bought a watch. Capice?
-
I've never seen a gen datewheel with the correct rotation for an ETA in silver (3055, 3135). Silver datewheels were used on the 1570 movements (1680, 1665) and Stephane has one on an early 16800 (3035)- early 80's. After that, I thought only white (or champagne) was used on gen Rolex DW's. Interesting.
-
Certainly there would be interest. Gen DJ cases aren't that easy to come by these days. What you could do is become a supporter and post it for sale in the parts section. If your price is reasonable, you shouldn't have any trouble selling it.
-
Wow! $15,488.00 US. Looks like two inexperienced guys and one guy w/ 140 buys on ebay were fighting for it. I wonder what the winner's going to do when he finds out it's a fake/franken. Too bad these guys don't know about Phong. They could have saved themselves a lot of money.
-
searching ebay, I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-BEZEL-INSERT-COMPLETE-SET-FOR-ROLEX-SUBMARINER_W0QQitemZ290352040550QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439a548a66&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 This doesn't have the bottom ring from what I can tell, just the flat tension ring, also don't know if it has the click spring. But it might worth checking out.

I bought a watch from Narikaa a few months ago. It was a pleasure dealing with him. It looks like you're getting the noobmariner M serial: http://img.villagephotos.com/imageview.aspx?i=25666040 That is an excellent first sub, IMO. Hope you enjoy it.

If you donate some money here and become a supporter, you will have access to the RWG collectors- probably a good idea. http://www.julesborel.com/ Jules Borel lists the 2892-2A for around $165, but you'd have to check to see if the price is still good. ETA is restricting the sale of ebauches (movements) so they are becoming scarce. The asians have copied the 2892-2A, I even saw WM9 putting it in one of his Rolex reps. For right now, your best bet is going to be sticking to a 2836-2 movement. Fitting a 2892 in a rep case would be like a graduate course, not easy.
