  1. Someone on timezone is selling their Ebel 1911 with El Primero movement for $1150! Much better value than a rep big bang! hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=3774131&rid=0 (replace hxxp with http)
  2. Love the Ingenieur... I went into an AD on holiday in Greece last year (jkarpas, you should have come along !), and as it wasn't a planned visit, I was wearing the AMG (completely unmodded)... the AD spotted it and showed me all the IWCs. Got to try on the Aquatimers, chrono and non-chrono... very very nice. He offered me "the usual discount" if I was thinking of buying any one of them. And then onto Cyprus, my friend's cousin's boyfriend worked with high end watches and was impressed by it too. Anyway, I love this one.... And everyone else, please don't go into ADs with reps unless you keep it hidden under a sleeve! (But Greece was warm last year).
  3. I think I heard somewhere that tourbillons tick loudly... I'm not sure if that is true... so just a question to tourbillon owners, do they tick loudly and audibly to those around? I remember thinking the ETA 6497 was loud, but that's only in a quiet room, it's not bad at work etc.
  4. Thanks for that, I'll have to look into it... probably after Euro 2008
  5. That would be pretty good wouldnt it It can't be that difficult to have the optional dial. Perhaps a dealer can do a small run of these for us? Is Eurotimez (MBK guy) the one to ask?
  6. Bumpity bump, any discussion? Surprised so many would prefer a POS Daytona to a rubber clad AP ROO though.
  7. Yes .. very very interesting If it came from a crash site.. it's a little morbid....
  8. I reckon Nanuq went a little overboard in his ageing projects Either that or it's the movement from Rolex's blender ads
  9. Just found this, not sure if this is beyond repair, or master The Zigmeister can salvage this but here it is.
  10. I remember reading Subs could be bought for $80-100 back in the 60s..... if only I had a time machine and could buy up a few
  11. Ok, it's probably not Nanuq.... but I was searching for a SuperDome for a friend and came across on youtube that shows the SuperDome submerged in water ... looks good
  12. That's my guess, looks like it requires a key to wind up on the back... or perhaps it's a wall clock ? I'm not sure from the ad.. but there are lots of pictures.
  13. I may be even tempted if it stays at this price... but it's an Omega 8 days movement Cal.59-8D. Perhaps someone can gift it to The Zigmeister as he's off the boards, he's the one most likely to really appreciate it I think.
  14. This is what I've inferred from his about page: My guess is that he has chosen Nocti Lumina because it lasts longer than Super Luminova. I've never heard that SL lasts for upto 36 hours... but then I don't really know much about it. Maybe The Zigmeister has posted about it elsewhere.
  15. Seems like most newer reps are coming out exclusively on rubber straps (or cheap throwaway "leather" bands) nowadays. And it's definitely cheaper for members to buy a rubber strap afterwards, rather than the genuine bracelet! Some genuines are exclusive to the rubber strap as far as I know, ie. DeWitt Academia Chronograph, the titanium B&M Riviera XXL Special Edition. However there are many watches that are not just available on rubber straps, eg. Corum Admiral's Cup, Hublot Big Bang, Ebel chrono, Concord C1, etc. We were lucky that the "Slevin" Aquatimer eventually got a bracelet, but others seem to be left on the wayside. It seems to be the cheap and cheerful option for the makers, while bumping up prices. Are people happy with this situation? Looks like it will get to the point that a rep will be easily spotted if it's not on a bracelet ! And with all this rubber flying around, why no complete rubber bezel on the AP ROO, and not the poor PVD version available now ? (Speaking of which, where are the titanium AP ROOs? But that's another topic for another day)
  16. I've had the same thing the past month as well.... I wonder what's going on ?
