  1. Perhaps the newer clasps are better now...? I heard the Chrono version was very very good.
  2. Lucky devils! Rep gold is so unreliable, you're lucky you got the solid gold version. I am guessing you are after a genuine clasp because the rep clasp was plated instead of solid ?
  3. A-ha, so there IS one... where did you manage to get hold of one, Two Tone ?
  4. I'll do that, haven't had much time to do any research yet. My friend tells me they don't understand any English where she's staying, so I told her she's stuck with me and will have to be my translator That is, until she has to go to work She says all she does is go tanning on the beach as there is nothing to do and it's boring... she wants to go home!
  5. I may be gong to Lecce in a few weeks on a cheap flight to visit a friend who is working there. Anyone know anything about this place? I think I will be flying to Brindisi airport. My friend tells me that everyone speaks Italian, but no English, so I'm already in trouble, as I don't speak Italian!
  6. Damn the dollar! Use GBP or Euros!
  7. Perhaps you all need to stop doing your *ahem* wrist exercises Seriously, this is wear rubber straps come in useful, as they are designed to expand and contract as well.
  8. I heard that there was a version out with solid 18k gold. The two tone version does not have a huge amount of gold, so I think it is viable and possibly made, but when asking 1 dealer they couldn't find it from any current watchmakers. and had never heard of it. Was this just a hoax? A figment of my imagination? Or not made anymore? If it exists, where to get one ?
  9. I agree... it's even pushing it for me to buy one of these for $400 ! And even then, I'd prefer a steel one with ceramic bezel - perhaps the mellow yellow? And as someone else mentioned, why not try a group buy for the all steel version at $300? $660 I will take with a genuine Swiss ETA tri-compax movement.
  10. Trusty has a new PAM127 ... how good is this so-called "Ultimate" version? Apparently with sapphire crystal front and back. The front is AR coated, and a Swiss ETA 6497 (but a hacking movement??) movement. A 117 case, and a $378 price tag...
  11. Connolly leather is great. Apparently this is used in the Rolls Royce seats too. A strap made from this same leather came with the RXW Plasmir Chrono
  12. Ditto... especially just for DBR I have it on a 22mm omega rubber coated deployant strap that should be on the PO for good measure
  13. I disagree - the Franck Muller Casablanca in solid 18 karat gold case is the most accurate - look for Archibald's photos in his thread if you do a search. Decorated rotor on the genuine ETA 2892 is as good as it gets. Same movement as genuine, without the platinum rotor.
  14. jfreeman will probably know the most about gold watches, but in my opinion, the best one is the solid gold Franck Muller Casablanca - look for Archibald's thread to see the pictures. Very very accurate too. But expensive. And no, I'm not selling mine
  15. I've noticed Big Bangs that were purchased at the lower price have also since bumped up.. so I guess it's market forces and scarcity value. I wonder if they sell at the higher prices though? I imagine the dealers don't sell too many either. Personally, I've never got into the vintagizing process, and hope I don't... too much work!
  16. Two Tone and standard SS both have the same dial? I see silix has the TT at $170 and the SS at $150... could be worth a look, especially as they have genuine ETA 2824 movements
  17. Don't know what you're talking about, I never bothered watching the lengthy films! Ok, I admit, I read those children's books when I was 10 or 11.
  18. Isn't the so-called "MBW" AP Royal Oak Jumbo really a TW Best?
  19. Is it possible to swap out the Asian movement for an ETA movement? The 2836s aren't too expensive are they ? At least not $200 extra.
  20. Uugh.... only thing worse than women's feet are men's I just can't touch them, makes me cringe
  21. In the meantime, discuss: If you had a choice, standard Aquatimer chrono or Cousteau 2006 ? I'll lean towards the Cousteau due to the colouring, but if the standard version is better constructed, I'll go for that.
