  1. Unhappy? Not because of anything rep-related! Simple thing to do if you don't want your photo of your (possibly modded) rep to be picked apart - put at the top, here is my rep, I am happy as it is and realise it is not 100% identical to original. Just don't put something like "Don't criticise my rep, it's perfect" and expect no criticism - unless it is perfect.
  2. I'll sell a genuine Omega Seamaster dial for 2k Will have to figure out costs on others
  3. The way I've been lately, I can't be bothered with anything, not going out nothing, so the only one I'll "impress" is myself. Essentially I like the look of it (why else did I get a RXW Plasmir Milgraph instead of another rep chrono?). I could sell all my watches, reps & gens and get a couple or expensive AP ROO, but i wouldnt feel comfortable walking around the (allegedly rough) neighbourhood that I live and work in with a $10-30k watch strapped to my arm.
  4. I'm not sure who came first but Precious Time is often referred to as PT, so why not use: PT = Precious Time (UK) PWI = PureTime Watches International (China/Hong Kong) Maybe that would explain things, or people may start getting confused with PWI and RWI ?
  5. Always useful to have for that cute girl in the club Then again, I don't really like girls to smoke
  6. Obviously it's worth doing 1 wheel to see if it comes out as expected and then getting the rest done. Perhaps you could supply datewheel and overlays already on them to fit this movement ? Just a thought. Otherwise it may be a matter of sending you datewheels...!
  7. What days are you available? And anyone heard from Davey (he was at a previous meet with Clive, and A.N.Other)
  8. I can supply the movement myself * nudge nudge wink wink *
  9. Sorry if this has already been pulled up, I'm reading bottom of page 4 and about to go sleep...! Anyway cheap a$$e$ are all of us for buying reps and not saving up for the real deal, then you get a 1:1 version with great lume, genuine movement etc It's not nice to criticize someone for choosing an Asian movement version - some watches are only available with Asian movements, eg. Franck Muller Vegas; Crazy Hours; SMP Chrono; Tag Link Chrono; IWC GST Chrono; Hublot Big Bang; etc Many of those don't come cheap. Many are buying reps to save money on what seems to be overpriced gens (I'm looking at you polex and Penarei - at least the Unitas [undecorated cost: $70 - source ofrei.com] based versions). And don't forget some of us are just downright poor (eg. me! even though I usually go for an ETA version if available) .
  10. That was why I pointed out that it was an ETA2892 copy and not a real ETA 2892... I guess I wasn't so clear, thanks for clarifying it to the masses!
  11. Remember the "closed-factory" Bond SMP? Turns out that had a copy 2892 movement. From what I understand these are still working well though.
  12. Yes, I correspond with dealers before making a purchase where possible. Some dealers have warned me off some watches before saying the movement is unreliable or it is a copy movement etc. or if a watch is not genuine titanium, or midlinks are plated etc. as well as the "synthetic sapphire" thing. They usually know I don't want mineral crystal. Dialogue is always the best way here I think.
  13. Yep a simple hand-held diamond-tester, like sssurfer has described before. It works too, I have tested against genuine crystals, and then tried the glass in the window etc.
  14. An american explaining irony. Now that's ironic. An aside, just a joke, The British perception of Americans etc... don't take offense!
  15. I have a sapphire crystal tester and test all of mine, using a genuine as a control so I can calibrate it properly. Any that fail get returned. I think the only one that failed was a PAM127 with the new working swan neck movement.
  16. The strain will be on the movement with running seconds at 6 regardless of if the chrono is running. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm keeping well away from modified Asian movements with running seconds at 6. Good luck with this watch! Anyone got the non-chrono version yet?
  17. ETA 7753s certainly seem to be available to rep manufacturers - Joshua still has the newer PAM chronos with ETA 7753, just click this link and you can see for yourself. The lack of PAM187 with ETA 7753 is that it may be another factory making it, rather than the original two. I don't really know, but that's my guess. Fingers crossed though... you'll see I've heard of the Cartier Santos Chrono with ETA 7753 but never really got a big liking to that, just the standard Santos 100 in two tone, but I can't find one with solid gold parts
  18. Genuine is full ceramic I think. They did it with the J12, so why not? PVD case with ceramic may be another model perhaps? If that's cheaper, that would be good too.
  19. I like the Hublot Big Bang "Black Magic". A black ceramic case with brushed and polished surfaces, a titanium display back... but please not *too* expensive, I haven't gone for one of the others or I can't afford this one
  20. I live and work in North London... the first Friday date seems ok at the moment but who knows? Off in Latvia 22-26th Feb. Gun City is Nottingham, where V robs the rich (with his guns) and gives to the poor People going to want to bring lots of watches? Have another one in November And bring Kate Beckinsale back!
  21. Ask tourbillon1801, he sells genuine watch movements on eBay as well as here, he'll know the going rate.
  22. Thanks, it seems to be working now. sssurfer's image goes across the screen, but the horizontal scroll bar is now available. I will try again at work tomorrow as well and check it if I get time. I try not to upgrade unless I really really need to, and for now IE6 does what I need On another unrelated note, the post icons aren't as good as the old ones, they have less character and look bland, but I guess we can't have everything! This posting window also appears below the "Quick Access" panel and may be another IE6 problem perhaps?
