Leather strap and Breitling for Bentley Motors
b16a2 replied to aspartam's topic in The Breitling Area
The quality of the rep leather straps are very good. In my opinion for 30USD there is not a better leather strap your money could buy. -
Yes the gen can also come with the rubber strap. With Omega you can pretty much ask for whatever bracelet you wish. Some buy this with the bracelet that you usually see on the 2254.50 (black SMP), but I would imagine the majority buy it on the 'Bond' bracelet due to its legendary deisgn.

+1 Accurate SMP to the standards of the Skyland etc... would sell very very quickly!!
-
Looks good. The crystal on the gen has only an internal AR coating. Being very picky....; Pearl is too low The date font is off Date window isn't quite right (white border too close to the edge) Definitely one to put on the wish list.

They're very good replications of the Breitling straps for a good price, here is a picture to give you some idea of what they look like on a Breitling; -

Looks very nice, I would recommend the rep leather straps as offered by the dealers here though. Check out Angus' (Puretime) website they are for sale on there. -
Like this one; http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=82347 This was only made a week ago, imagine with the trauma of loosing a loved one combined with being backlogged with work. He could either be here posting and making sure you all feel ok about his service, or he could get on dealing with the family situtation and slowly sorting through the backlog to get the crystals back to you....I know which I would do in his situation. I know it's frustrating when things don't go to plan, but we all know Jakub, he offers an amazing service. The servcie we get here is often a lot more efficient than what you would get from an AD!

Unfortunately there aren't any good replica's of this watch. If you like the 2254, have a look at the 4th gen Planet Ocean. They are similar in style, but the PO is a much more accurate watch. There are many Omega fans longing for a Bond and 2254 SMP....hopefully we will see one repped to a high standard in the future! Ps, if you decide you still want the SMP, then Silix usually carries some good SMP reps, have a look at his site.

Don't go buying new cases, you'll get the crystals back. Blimey I remeber having my Navitimer modded about 2 years ago, I didn't see that for 9 months, and I crossed many problems. Just have somke patience and you'll get them back. Remeber this is a hobby and not a job.

It's a gen mid size auto, that's why there is no lume dot at 3. I really like these new Devilles with the nicely done movements! I just can't get the thought of a white one on a brown leather strap out of my mind
-
The single AR on a white dial is less of a glaring flaw than it is on the black dial. However, once you get a double AR coating it will make a lot of difference! It is not a major flaw and is easily fixable. I would be much more concerned if the case was completely the wrong shape because it can't be changed, a lack of AR ccertainly isn't something to worry about.

The modern tri-compax Navitimers with the 28k movement are all the same. Have you seen Andreww's review of the Navitimer in this section (stickied at the top?) If you haven't have a look there too. I used to own one and it was brilliant, I would definitely recommened one!

Because the whole world revolves around your crystal. You even replied in the other thread. Use some decorum and be patient. Jakub probably has hundreds of emails to get around to, and due to the death I doubt they are highest priority right this minute.

I live fairly close to London

Ebay, Timezone, or blowers-jewellers.co.uk

It's a nice watch but like Teejay I wouldn't buy one. Get a good 111h released that is spot on and it would sell much better
-
It uses the standard layout 7750 which is the best one to go for, no modifications of any kind. There is also a quartz version that costs a lot less, might be worth checking that out because it is just as nice!
-
It's the black dial version, but I have seen pics of the blue version, and it is exactly the same colour as my old Aerospace gen. It is a lovely colour in the flesh. Another reason I would buy the rep Skyland is because you may (as therebel did) find you prefer the SF over the Skyland, in which case you can sell the rep on and you haven't been through any real hassle. Out of the two I have a feeling you will prefer the Skyland though.
-
Just ask for the Datewheel from a Swiss ETA 7750 movement

I've owned both the rep of the Steelfish and the Skyland (currently on my wrist) Although they both come from the Aeromarine line, they have a very different feel to them. Thinking of your collection, personally I would buy the blue faced Skyland with blue dial (rep version). The blue dial Skyland is beautiful, it is a very slatey blue, so it can be worn on a strap, bracelet and rubber and look good on all. I think you'll wear the Steelfish less after owning the Skyland, the Skyland has a certain presence about it, it looks very modern (due to the dial number font I believe) and it is big, but not massive. I have never enjoyed owning a chrono watch as much as owning the Skyland. Once I had the blue Skyland I would probably end up selling the SOSF and put the money in the bank and wait until I found a bit of inspiration to buy another gen. Also, as far as getting the 7750 transplant I wouldn't worry about doing this, mine runs beautifully, almost as well as the SMP I had. If it does pack in in a few years, then you can make the transplant then. Ps the reaosn I wouldn't buy the gen of the Skyland is due to the build quality of the rep, it is increbily well put together

Just slightly, I thought they were meant to be around USD10k. Converting this would make the price USD18,000!! Audemars Piguet anyone?
-
I read somewhere that if you place a droplet of water onto the crystal, if it is a Sapphire, the droplet should keep it's shape, whereas the mineral glass will just run off in all directions.

CBR I hope things work out for you. Your input will be sadly missed, but as has already been mentioned, I hope we can see your return in the future, whenever they may be. As someone who has always been such an openminded and fair member, it seems very unfair that this situation should present itself to you, life seems to have a nasty habit of dealing bad luck to the best of people. All the best

Well there were rumours of a seconds at 12 version being released so it may be worth waiting a bit longer to see if that is released.

I hope they all have B&R's
