  1. Welcome to RWG. Looks like the bug is taking a big bite out of your bootay. These reps are seriously adictive :Jumpy: I thought peeps were joking about this hobby and it's adictive nature. I just had my heat/water turned off. Summer comming and who realy needs running water? I mean come on, watches were here before indoor pluming and the other luxryies that we realy dont need. And as far as having a roof over your head, over rated. Welcome to food stamps and that wonderful goverment cheese :bad: To your next rep :drinks: Mike

  2. I entirely agree with the OP - as a n00b myself I thought that getting a "cheap copy" would be pretty easy, but it is entirely the opposite.

All I wanted was a replica Bell and Ross BR03 but now I'm finding myself tempted by Omegas and Panerais and IWCs and Rolexes...

But there are so many questions!!

Which movement? An ETA? A 7750? An Asian or a Swiss version?

Is the movement reliable? How long before it might break? Is it fixable?

Which dealer should I buy from? People use first names to refer to them but what are their forum or website names? and what sites do they sell from?

Will it get seized by customs if I order from outside the EU, where I am based?

    How much is it?

Is it a good price for the specification?

Is the specification good enough to look genuine to all but avid watch collectors/fans?

Will it need a service straight away?

Will my local watch shops touch it if I take it in?

Will it need to be sent away for modification to make it truer to the original / look nicer? (Anti-Reflective'd? / re-lumed?)

Would I be able to do anything to it myself or would that just be asking for trouble?

What on earth do all the acronyms used on the forum mean??

I'm sure some of these questions are answered in the n00b guide that I still have to sit down and read properly  but it really isn't easy... :(

I was feeling pertty good about this new hobby of mine, buy after reading this , Im outa here :bye2:;)

  3. I cant be 100% sure but it sounds like you did the same thing I did. The AD in my area told me that I should have removed the links from the clasp not the lugs. Bracelet is runined. :wallbash: I found a desent strap on E-Bay for $25 shiped. It's a heart breaker thats for sure. Hopefuly you will have better luck. The final results may not be the same. Good luck :) Mike

  4. Sounds good to me. Thats what I would probably do to if in the same situation. What can I say I love these reps to, just orderd a Pam 196 daylight(chrono) :) Nice watch.for $279 /w ss band. I also orderd a strap for it from Heoric18. Unbeliveable strap for $108. Live and learn I suppose. Good luck on your Breitling. :drinks: Mike

  5. All I can say is "I know how you feel" :black_eye: . Something similar happened to me. I swore I would have nothing to do with reps again. I dont feel as bad now. When buying a rep, any rep, It's a crap shoot imho. I will always love watches. All kinds of watches. I have for years. Its just a little frustating when dealing with prouducts thats are not the gen artical. The good news is that people buy these reps and can and do enjoy them for years. I have been looking at other watches in the $100-300 range. Haurex,Seiko, citiizen, etc, there is a lot of realy nice watches out there that are not reps. They are also afordable. I just like keeping my options and mind open. Sorry about your Omega  I have the same watch with the chrono(quartz) Good luck  Mike

  6. Very nice watch. I have a tag Formula 1gen. Not the best Tag  I bought my first rep about six weeks ago. The Omege po chrono quartz. It is a very nice watch. I have just orderd the Pam 196(7750) I felt the same way as you about my first rep. The quarts is a great way to get a nice watch and not spend a lot of money. My seconds run @ 6, subdial. Since I have been a member here at RWG I have been thinking about autos vs quartz. I have to agree that the mechanical is what a real watch is supossed to be, moving parts. I have a Omega my father gave to many yrs ago. The watch is about forty yrs old. I think it was serviced once. The watch still keeps good time. It is being serviced as we speek. IMHO a quarts as a every day run around watch cant be beat.(no pun intended) ;) But it well never have the look and feel of a good auto. Thanks for the pics, where it well :) Mike

  7. Man you just never know in this business/hobby. :g: I just visited Aoobuy.com and my virus warning shield came on. The reason I was courious about this site is Fakemaster had given someone connected with it a good review. Im not 100% sure but it had something to do with FMs purchase of a Pam. To his credit he took him/her off the list but would not recomend him/her per say. . Not in the traditional sense of a recomendation. Good thing, because man you just never know in this business. Mike

  8. I'm not sure if it is the same dealer, but, my VCO was from a dealer called replica2u, on LoudFrog. Absolutely zero communication, but, the goods still arrived within the accepted time-frame. Very nice watch too, exactly the same case as is sold by the Cartel, but with an Asian movement, so about half the price. Really nice watch, I just never really 'bonded' with it, so passed it on. If anyone has any questions about the watch, it'd be best to ask them to Victoria. The watch has been in her possession now much longer than it was in mine.

As for EuroFakes, I bought my Submariner from them (before finding these forums). They might have pulled my pants down over the price, but, they did send me a watch. Within 3-4 days. Scammers don't sent out anything. Ever. Indeed, no point in paying extra money unnecessarily for something when the same thing is available for cheaper, but, if someone chooses to pay the extra, that's up to them.

    Submariner-1.jpg

Look at WatchMark's sales of HBBs. If I recall, they're considerably cheaper than the Cartel offerings. Does that then mean that the Cartel were pulling people's pants down on their prices of the HBBs? ( ;) )

I wonder, just how many of these 'scam sites' people have actually purchassed from, or if they've just been called scam sites, and no one's ever bought from them because someone called them a scam site... Without feedback for each and every one of those sites (some listed several times) Such a list is little more than a lot of copy/paste propoganda. Now, I'm not suggesting that people should risk their money on sites which have been proven to be scam sites, and yes, prices might well be better with forum dealers, so why spend extra money unnecessarily, but, at the end of the day, people really need to get out of the mentality of thinking that just because someone isn't a 'recommended dealer', that doesn't automatically mean they are a scammer ;)

[/quote Scamers send out watches all the time. Problem is that they send out Caa Caa. If they last you a month your lucky. Most times DOA. $10.00 flea market jobs, junk. Yes it's true that a lot of folks end up with nothing at all. :) Mike

  9. Thank you, too all that responded, I don't know how my first post got to the wrong list, Sorry!

I have narrowed the search to the SSD but am having trouble, with replys that are accurate from dealers. They seem vague, my question is " IS THIS A V1 OR V2. " Their reply is that it is the latest version? I would like to find the SSD with the Asian movement, just to save dollars on the puchase. The only way I know of ,is to confirm the thickness at 14.5mm. I have been all over in the search, If any one has a better idea would appeciate the help.

I did stroke Ruby's name off the list, she is to busy by the sounds of it. I too have emailed her with no responce.

    thanks

    Bruce the Newbee

Hang in there Bruce. In time it will be worth it :) I had some problems with a Omega(42mm)(20mm lugs) SS bracelet. After about three days I found my answear. Dillagence is key. :good: Mike

  10. Bob Marley :notworthy: So lets roll up a spleef mon. :pimp: Welcome to RWG. The only thing I can say is try to avoid the bling factor. I see people do this all the time. It comes across like there trying to hard. Go with that understated flying under the radar look. Bling has it's place but not in the workplace Imho. I think you have the right idea. Wear the watch, not the other way around. Good luck on that promotion :drinks: Mike

  12. Sorry to hear about your situation Davidf. I hate to say it but "Toads giving it to you straight". It sounds to me like your trying to do the right thing. I dont think your a ass, your [censored] off and I dont blame you a bit. But the rep world is different. I know it sucks but were all in the same boat. If we want to be involved in this hobby we must make consesions. It is what it is. Do the right thing as far as these reps go and it will come back to you in a very positive return, Im sure of that. Good luck on whatever you choose to do. :) Mike

  13. May I ask what kind of repairs are being done to your ss bracelet. I just totaly screwd mine up trying to resize. Removed the link from the lug not the clasp. :fool: Far as the spring pins go, you might want to try E bay or Amazon. Google search Omega SM po ? 20mm spring bars. Good luck :) Mike
