  1. :welcomeani: Thunder. I dont know anything about those sites you listed. I can assure you that you are no differant than 99% of the folks that arrive here. The faces are differant but the the song remains the same. Led Zepplin (1976) :p The best advice I can give you is take your time and do a lot of research. Like you said "cant afford to get ripped, who can? The dealer and trade reviews are also very important. RWG is like the Magical mystery tour (Beatels 1968?). No matter where you end up here, you learn something. When you do find the watch, there is a good chance that a member has reviewed it, if not several members. Hope this rambling helps. ;) Mike
  2. Welcome to RWG Weeone. The 7750 is a good movement. It should be serviced with in a reasonable time period after you receive the watch. The Zigmeisters movement reviews are very helpful. The search function is your best friend. I know that getting a watch is the first order business. All I can say is the more reading you do, the more you will understand this hobby as a whole. Toads Noob guide is a very good place to start. Like Toad says " you will hit the ground running " ;) Good luck :) Mike

  3. new here too. i have bought a rolex from george on watchmaker9 site. also interst in panerai and breitling. thanks.

Welcome to RWG. How was your experance with George at Watchmaker9? I am not familiar with this dealer. The watch the service ect? Thanks and Welcome. :) Mike

  4. Henrik :welcomeani: To RWG. Your life will never be the same. ;) I had Sweedish meatballs the other night. Does that count. When I arrived here I had a very nice House. I also had not one but two nice cars paid for none the less. Well to make a very long story short. I now live in my Aunt Gurtrudes basement and I ride moped, nice one. :cc_scooter: I do have something though, I have my watches :wiggle: They cant take that away from me. HA Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha  Enjoy :D Mike

  5. Welcome Nicco. I would stick with the dealers on RWG. They will also go that extra mile for RWG members. If you are tempted to go somewere else be careful. Andrew and Joshua are known and for the most part well respected in this community. That says a lot right there. We rep folks dont put up with any BS ;) Take your time, get to know the place. Good Luck :) Mike

  6. Jit 1 - Customs Man 0

Small watchmakers screwdrivers set is an invaluable tool for you now - Cheap and a must for any new collector - a tip is on any watch you get through, just double check all casing, pin and link screws are tight ( do not overtighten them ). - All UK 'cheap shops' will have these in the diy section

The links on your watch will be 1.4mm flathead screws - easy peasy.

Things can get unsettled during transport ;)

    pics, pics, pic

    Peace.

    :)

Very good advice :thumbsupsmileyanim: Thanks Billy :) Mike
  7. Welcome to RWG Eric. I restored a 1985 turbo Z about six yrs ago. It only had 62.000 org mi on it,nice car. Sold it and made a good buck. ;) Im a big Nissan and Infinity fan. Well Eric if your looking forward to good times, you are definatly in the right place. This community is quite remarkable. Give it some time and you will see what I mean. Toads Noob guide is about as good as it gets for us noobs. It's a great read. Good to have you Eric  enjoy :) Mike

  8. Nobody answered the 2 questions that were seeming important: Don't all the dealers just get them from these markets anyway or do they get them from their favorite factory? Also, are these watches people are paying like 100$USD for and stuff really just $30 watches from the markets?

Relax, dont get your spidy drawers in a bunch ;)
