  1. looks great! i question why this model and not a luminor caseset. also: and VERY IMPORTANT----- has the tooling for the crown and tube changed?.. as i will be upset if they strip out like on all the cartel version radiomir cases so far!
  2. hello i have handled the gen. the ALL black is just too much in my opinion. the watch is too big and industrial looking and to anyone other than a WIS they might mistake it for a crappy dime store watch esp with the strap as designed. the side bars on the dial are a Nautical treatment for display only as HUBLOT translates to porthole.
  3. i have tried searching.. i know that the post sizes have been measured and posted to a thread before.. in regard to movement post sizes.. does anyone know stock El Primero 3019 hand post sizes and the A7750 28.8 hand post sizes... i am trying to determine if the post sizes are close enough that the rep hands would fit a genuine 3019 movement with broaching or watchmakers modification or if hands would have to be sourced separately. and.. in regard to movement depth.. 3019 vs A7750. Is the dial top to stem distance workable in the case and close enough that a 3019 could be installed w/o difficulty?
  4. everyone's advice is well taken. i take it that so far noone has taken a project like this to completion. i have a franken 16520 with all NOS parts. its gleaming and looks the business, and i have the parts to get another together..however i want to move on to another project, and most will understand that for most wis here its about the journey and not the acquisition. (as i have lots of watches and wear maybe three as max regularly) the display back is not really a deal breaker for me. only the WIS here would know the diff anyways. i am not going to send the watch off to AD for service, so who will ever notice that the watch has the wrong rotor? noone! i will never really be wondering... 'that guy across from me on the subway is looking at my pam franken .. do you think he knows that the engravings missing from my movement?' hes not going to see it! i will, but i will actually enjoy looking at the plain jane el primo column wheel movement through the sapphire casebaack, and if i eventually source a rotor great if not that would be ok or i might just mount a closed caseback. now.. i know someone here had the post sizes for the A7750 and the post sizes for a 3019? are they close enough that the hands could be broached to fit? and my other concern before getting into deep is if the movement(3019) will line up in the rep 40mm chrono case? items needed for project: rep 40mm chrono case 3019 movement w/ correct DW 3019 stem ar the crystal gen dial hands to fit

  6. wheatons pics looks good, the pic in the orig post is certainly lacking something (looks like teeth that have ever seen a toothbrush or a dentist).
  7. nice acquisition. enjoy. the WIS here appreciate wristwatches in a way that no other forum can understand, even most of the other rep forums. On other forums, members seem to just shout at one another in a way that I cannot comprehend.
  8. PM me, as i have genuine evolution bezels w/ all tabs, screws, and inner ring. straight from Breitly. problem is the way this bezel is made the top end diamond guys only want to use a gen bezel as the aftermarket ones made for the diamond industry are not as good quality, so the demand affects availability, thus they NEVER show in the secondary markets. the SA bezels are wide enough for the aftermarket bezels to work on and hold stones nicely (so lots of gen SA bezels up for grabs in the secondary market as they are swapped for the aftermarkets with stones) but he EVO bezel is not as wide and the OEM is superior so when you want stones they use your original bezel if it is a top end dealer. 9. @ Rolexman PM Sent. my wife just loves puppies, she thinks your avatar is 'SO CUTE'
  10. nice! a specialty blend i personally do not have anything like that in my cellar, but have spent boko bucks on liqueurs, and my dad and brother in-law insist on having a selection of aged scotch when they come over. but enjoy, and give us your opinion when opened!
  11. @ Rolexman. I think you are confusing me with someone else on the board... I saw their thread recently.. They are looking to change the caseback because 200m was engraved and not 300m, are they were also posting and looking for some crownguard parts and the little lever thingy because the crownguard was brushed from the factory in the wrong direction and the lever thingy was curved too much or too litttle i can't remember now without trolling for the post.. and they had like 6 dials already in their 111H and they were still not happy. To say nothing of the members in the Rollie threads. The dial and movement were not mounted tight in the case so much so that there was a rehault gap between 10-2 that would open and close like a clam. and.. What my wife and I do with the doors shut and the curtains closed will remain unmentionable is private, mostly.
  12. me also. when i use IE the top half of my screen is all black.
  13. when i received my 188 back from my watchmaker it had some slight issues, so it has sat around not collecting any wrist time at all!! anyway how should i feel about these issues? 1. chrono minute hand not centered. never used the chronos thats how it was when i rcvd it. 2. bezel on the right side by the crown is not seated tightly on the case, daylight can be seen underneath 3. also when i rcvd the watch the dial between 10 and 2 was seperated from the rehault by about 1mm+-. this REALLY bugged mt the most so i added an extra mounting tab on that side of the case. anyway should i politely ask my watchmaker to address these issues? i actually would be 100% willing to fund a repair to address these so called little issues so it could get some wrist time!
  14. very interesting and nice purchase you can also print DW with this machine right? like especially ...... Breitling for Bentley Dark MAROON date wheel and day wheels with proper font. also it would be nice to source the others (panerai etc) here int he usa then have to source overseas). would be nice
  15. pam has used the el primero in quite a few models.and we have a decent 40mm case from the cartel.. i have seen the dials pop up from time to time.. and we know the el primero is avail nos, and used. now has anyone already done this project?? please show us. please. :-)common please show us if yo have done this project as my next gen is gonna be a pam w/ primero if i dont build it myself. Movements - OP IV The OP IV is Panerai's chronograph movement. It is based on the "high beat" Zenith El Primero. Its characteristic signature marks are small seconds at 9 and a date at 4, central chronograph seconds, and totalisers at 3 and 6.The variant of this movement used in the original PAM 52 chronograph did not have a date indicator, and in others with a date.
  16. has anyone here made a El Primero Franken PAM?? i have a Rol. 16520 all NOS parts franken and would love to do a pam project with this movement! if you have done this project please post some pictures!! we would love to see these! this would an ultimate franken in my opinion, and i have seen some gen dials popup now and again. also if you have this dial currently i would be interested, pls pm/email anytime.
  17. ok i am starting to get a little confused so this thread will clear everything up in regard to this watch that is very popular to frankenize. V1 Version 1 V1 -old skool case that had a plastic movement ring, NO AR, and no caseback serial numbers, also had hands that were too small(lifted from the standard avenger rep) however it ACCEPTED a gen bezel 1:1 with no mods. the bezel was press fit and took some fiddling to get off but once off you could mount a gen bezel IF and only IF you had a gen retaining ring. V2 Version 2 -so called 1:1 case with genuine style AR and real metal movement ring. to mount a gen bezel takes time, patience and will and you still might frig your case and it might be 1mm too big/loose. reps were made with arabics dial big wings and correct hand lenths. V3 Version 3 -made with STICKS dial and then also with 'Tactical Arabics' dial, also the bezel is better than the V2 (sometimes) but the crystal and bezel assembly is Worse then the V2 because the crystal is thinner and mounted in conjunction with the bezel causing some to question its water resistance. also i have seen some question the CROWN threads... which version is more likely to strip the crown threads? and i have left off the Blacksteel Version as i have NO experience with these so please post if you know if the blacksteel is V2/V3 totally diff or both. is this correct? and please feel free to add any comments as this watch is very popular to franken. V1 gen 7750 gen hands gen bezel CT AR
  18. well i am not sure yet if my friends and family would consume enough to make it feasible(spoilage) economics aside... but FRESH GUINNESS straight from a TAP is incomparable to the bottles and i would love to install a tap at our house. anyone here have experience? to install a GUINNESS tap requires a special setup with two lines and a special mixing valve assembly.. i know i can join another forum/board and get all the info i could ever possibly use but i am trying to avoid so much internet time and spend more time in real people company so any insight would be appreciated!
  19. i am not a panny expert but this case has a nice thick bezel and looks like a nice CG and Crown to me.. and the price point is great. of course you'd have to source a caseback (i've gotten these from PT in the past) and maybe a crystal or AR from CT. can we still get DW from Lello or are 2geeks just as good? the new daylight cases would also be nice but the price of admission is 3x times this case. and if your doing a 188/196 the CGlever and the lug release will still be wrong. i so many spare 7753's that i should make some more daylights
  20. i see a few threads down (6.75 review) that a member posted a modded SA with gen bezel.. it was my current understanding the the latest vesions would not accept a gen bezel... the OLD case from a few years ago would (i did several frankens of this old vesion as the bezel popped on 1:1) is the gen bezel on the latest SA possible and if so any issues? any issues with click/turning/mounting/retaining ring etc? thank you in avance!
  21. the movement is this watch is THINNER than the CRYSTAL(4.85mm) thickness. :-) i like the brown leather version best at least from the pics.. Quote from Purists "Crafted in titanium, the front features an unusually thick and domed sapphire crystal of 4.85mm thickness. This crystal is actually 50% thicker than the GP movement inside and almost equals the total height of the Girard-Perregaux reference 47620 ultra-thin dress watch!"
  22. Anyone Own a Girard Perregaux Seahawk TI 3000M? this gen talks to me for some reason and i am thinking of picking up a gen... no GP dealers very close to me though so I havn't been able to handle a gen yet.. does anyone own one and what are your impressions? A side by side with a PAM 44mm rep or gen would be nice! Thanks!
