  1. kudos for takin the time to write, assemble, photograph and log this entire article! most here will surely appreciate this article and refer back to it for many years, and the WIS and mechanical gear heads like me just love reading and REREADING these articles for the technical mumbo jumbo weather or not we personally dive into our movemments. Cheers
  2. the PURSUIT is more fun the the AQUISITION this is well documented by psychologists of serious hobbyists and those with addition disorders allow mr neverhappy and mr remorseful to have their fun and post on the boards their most intimate dreams of pie in the sky while we feel their pain and suffer along side them in their quest to find a hobbists utopia.
  3. + 1 Pete i feel alot more comfortable here then on any of the other boards rep or gen) that i am a member of or troll. rep or gen.. the guys here love watches and the knowledge that is present here is awesome and the interchange is always pleasent and inspiring! a wristwatch is a wristwatch, it keeps time and is a marvel of engineering and mechanics whether rep or gen.. the guys HERE know that.
  4. @Babola/Drulee/wOlf because you guys are so knowledgeable.. will T's new SL crown fit with the factory rep CG or will the non SL(spring loaded) crowns work better? do all GENUINE Panerai have Spring Loaded Crowns? also will i need to order with the crown: -extra stem or special stem -extra stem adapter for ETA 28xx 0.9mm stem or -extra tube thanks guys! D110
  5. thanks wOlf. i will contact T... anyone know the stem size and if its >1mm? direction to a gen crown source also
  6. Old Skool EL Honpo 192 Ti on rubber its become my daily beater last few months..
  7. hello I am looking for a better crown solution for my 192 old skool EL / Honpo case real Titanium 192 w/ lemania handwind copy mvnt I know this is inaccurate from gen in many ways but for me i just love it! i wear it more than any gen i have! I really would like to add lume and AR but when i do i would like to upgrade to either a brushed or ti THICKER crown.. any experts to give advice would be greatly appreciated.. either for AR crystal(other than waiting for next Chief AR run) and the crown.. oh and maybe some hands :-)
  8. please note that the original post was went to create dialog and insite. i personally am not torn on my collection or collection habits. i collect and will collect gen and rep panerai and other brands, and have my wife and i have a garage filled with german(BMW, MB) and italian(Ducati, Aprilia) marques.
  9. nice quick comparison... will the A7753 date wheel install on a ETA 7753? so that a transplant will retain the more correct DW
  10. Thoughts about panerai and their history... About a year ago I took down my frogman statue because although I think he's cool (a highly skilled well equipted diver) the history of the frogmen is distasteful. Now at this point I am sure alot of responses will be.. “Modern Panerai has nothing to do with Fascism or the anti-Semetism of 60yrs ago!!”.. however i think this is not always true for several reasons.. One is that modern Panerai has built up a following today by stongly associating the brand with vintage products and the strong history of being a tool watch for military use, hence it has had to set and achieve higher standards than for the public so you should like it more. And second that once a collector is drawn to Panerai the modern watches lose there appeal and they are overtime drawn to more and more vintage items so much so that panerai WIS sometimes build and assemble their own ‘vintage homage’ and are as such are drawn closer to the association of the history. How do you feel and/or how do you balance the strong negativity associated with panerai and your modern day collecting and feelings about the brand? Any one that posts in this thread must set a high standard of thoughtfulness and respect and I trust that the mods will censor any posts deemed inflamatory or divisive. Remember this Forum is about watches and our common uniting hobby.
  11. Thanks for the reveiw and spending time to take side-by-side shots! it makes running back and for between pics so much easier when the side-by-sides are done together in the same light, angle and with NO Watermarks! :-) while it may not take a ETA7753 it sure is a great rep..
  12. I recently had the opportunity to sample these watches in person... HOLY **** These things are HUGE AND Awesome! They are G R E A T G I A N T Mechanical Units! you can instantly tell that these are for guys the love mechanical things and objects... cars, motorcycles, boats, engines, tools, etc... I fall into that category as I am sure most of the senior WIS here do also.. While I respect and admire the watches as works of art and for their horological ingenuity, I do not see myself ever purchasing one nor do I have the desire to have one planted on my wrist, I would however consider it an honor to have any of them displayed in my office at home or work. for the uninitiated: mbandf .com or do an image search on google
  13. Quote: By "new old" I don"t mean this latest production. To my knowledge, there have been 3 distinct cases made for the Daylights: The "old case" (often referred to as EL case) The "new case" (short bezel) This latest case (latest 1:1 from Cartel) My point was that the "new case" (the one more broadly available over the last year or two) -- was the worst of the bunch. and they also made some old case EL styled cases with a HIGH bezel but incorrect date change pusher location.. too low for a Swiss 7753 conversion (i got stuck with one of those cases :-( )
  14. Quote New Breed Asia 7753 movement .. Exact copy of the Swiss 7753 Movement .. No Recess date & date adjustment via the 10.00 recess pusher Quote Completely interchangeable with Genuine including movement!!! +1
  15. old school 192, Real Ti Case, long discontinued, from HONPO I like this watch so much its a daily beater for me even over my gens. i would like to get it serviced soon and when i do i would like to get it lumed and maybe try and find a better crown(thicker, and in ti) and get some AR on the crystal. cheers! and enjoy the quick shot... Not many of these exist!
  16. has anyone tried a watchoutlet990 replacement crystal in a rep? ar quality comments? fitment issues? they are listed on fleasbay. for those that will ask. :-)
  17. looks good and thanx for the quick pics. date alignment? AR quality? and the bracelet to lug spacing looks loose? all the best.
  18. pearl looks crappy bezel number font is silly and the date wheel font is absurd and BE SURE THIS WATCH WILL BE MUCH INCREASED IN BASE PRICE over any current breitly.. as the costs and pedigree of a inhouse caliber is dictate more $$$$$
  19. Ebay DSR ratings system all im gonna say is it sucks! ratings of 1-5 so a 4 = 80% pretty good right? WRONG = suspension. so either they rate a 5 all the time... 'cause if you they rate one less then 5 or a 4 ever = less then the 5 and suspension. no selling if they rate you a 4 or a 80% which in america = more then passing. crasy.
  20. maybe just clearing customs. wait for contact. no worries yet!
  21. to be fair- in many cases the arguments (cons/negatives) that are made for the reps can be made for the gens. once a gen is opened or worked on.. you can have anything happen also, from as minor as a a nick/ding/scratch etc... to as major as not getting the watch back for 6months plus! and the quality in reps is amazing and saddening at the same time. pick your project carefully!
  22. sorry to say a situation like this will be very hard to get around the service charges. first try another AD in UK, maybe they can help you(call on tele) also try looking in phonebook for a watchmaker/ repair worker, they may be able to help you but they will still have a service charge and a part charge. the problem with genuine watches is the BRAND will not or does not sell parts separate from service. same with rolex but what makes it easier with rolex is the sheer volume of dealers and watches that they sell that some of the parts get out from their control. the volume of breitling while larger then most GENUINE BRANDS is still much less them Rolex and parts are very hard to get outside of AD Centre. maybe full service is smart to get is it has been a few years of ownership. try to politely talk to the AD and see if they can order the part.. but still to install the part it has to be done from inside and outside the case, so movement has to be removed, most AD will not remove a movement without service, and with a pusher like this the AD will reseal and lube or replace gaskets and retest waterproof test ATM... so its hard to get away from the service charges.
  23. i have to say that the pearl and pearl assembly on these super avenger V2 is very poor. for all the advancement and effort into a great rep this crappy pearl really stand out for me. i would have to say that he pearl on the EVO is leaps and bound better then the ones i have here on SA. too bad that the install of a gen bezel was not simpler.
  24. these are great cases and reps! however has anyone personally installed a GENUINE Super Avenger Bezel on a REP(V2) V1 is easy. OR on a Breitling Chronomat Evoluton V1/V2/V3 ?? i have a package to send off to my watchmaker, and seriously desire to have gen bezels installed.. but hate to bung the cases in the process. cheers!
