47mm case
-
Since the consensus was that this movement should be shown I sat down this morning and installed the movement holder with screws and mounted a display caseback. As always you guys were right But now I think I have to go for a two-piece strap so that I can actually see it ... Hanging with the rest of the family:

I have tried myself on a Cali project before and tore it apart again because I just didn't like it - at all. Then I picked up this Art-Deco movement and put it aside until I found a Cali dial with white lume. Today I got the movement back from service and couldn't wait any longer. I borrowed a 3646 case with from another dormant project, rummaged through my strap collection for that only Nato-style strap I have (Wotancraft nylon - thanks again Joe) and stuck it all together. By the time it was all done the sun had disappeared but I just had to take a few shots - so please excuse the grainy pics ( no flash, just 400 ISO). It wears actually quite comfortable on the nylon: But I am gonna make a nice vintage strap for it in the next days: Last, but not least: The lime shot: I have the real case ready soon and the movement ring is also ready to go - thanks to Nightwatch, so this should be ready to wear for my trip to Europe in April - "Last exit Erfurt" ... I hope you enjoyed it...

Silix re-shaped ..

After I got this custom dial from Okabum I decided to try to make a watch a pirate would wear. Here are the first steps of the project: Still missing soldering the lugs and crown tube, re-finishing the dial (I went maybe a bit too far on the aging), modifying the case back to close properly, movement ring (coming from Nightwatch), aging of the plexi, a custom tattooed strap and final assembly.

Finally finished this, now I just need to fill her up: That's how it started: Slowly, but surely:

I bought this from Joewatch last October and I already liked it then, but I felt it could use some upgrades. So over the last few months I filled the indices aged the dial and opened the hood to tear out the Russian 3602 and replace it with a Swiss engine from Cortebert (Cal.616). All it needed then was a set of tires that would fit the age. A Ross replacement dashboard is on the way to complete the project. What do you think: And it rides well on the wrist too: Parked in the garage:

I had a SOH and mounted a Juergen mesh: http://www.jurgensusa.com/sm.htm Then moved it to my 243: The quality is excellent and I think you can order different sizes ...

Looks very interesting. I would like to buy some, but I usually stitch my straps first on a wider piece and then cut them later to the width. Maybe I could buy several kits that are uncut and still in one piece? Or pay extra to get them 38mm wide? How long are the strips? Would it be possible to post some more pics to get a better idea of the color ? Sorry for so many questions

Ok here some better pics as promised:

I was hoping to pick up my 2533 today from the watchsmith, but there is still a small problem (as usual). Instead he surprised me with another completed project (which I didn't expect to be ready so soon). Here is my current favorite: 3646 Marina Militare Specs: Silix case (reshaped, welded lugs and crown tube) Ross dial (not 100% sure because I took it out of another watch I had) on which I resin filled the indices, aged the lume and gave it a rough matt coating Aged crown VDB caseback on loan from my 3646 RP Rivet dial (which is being engraved right now) until I modifiy my NW thick caseback. 3601 Molinja movement from 1959 with Cote de Geneve bridges Vintage hands (which I stole from Joewatch's former 4-Liner who is gettiing pimped-up - Cortebert 616 is already in ) Aged Super Dome plexi And finally a vintage strap by yours truly. The pics aren't the greatest since it was already dark, but i will post better ones tomorrow: The night shot: And the wristy (taken in the car on the way home):

That makes sense since it was a pocketwatch with lid before... good thinkiing

I was wondering the same ...

I originally just bought this to use the movement (Molinja 3601) in another vintage project, but when I got the pocket watch I really liked the face (despite the scary letters) and decided to ad wire lugs, a different crystal and turn it into a wrist watch. For now on a Wotancraft Nylon (which actually goes quite well with it IMO), but I will make a ncie leather strap for it next week. Enjoy: And it wears very comfortable on the wrist:

Thanks WOlf; You know I still owe you a favor

I have available: 24 and 26mm and they usually come in 140/80 length. But I also have more material and can make any size you want. Just drop me a line...
