  1. Hi! I came across this add,and something about it just rubbed me the wrong way. It just looks kinda fake. It is supposed to be a Daytona Pro Hunter edition. Keep in mind only 100 has been made. I got hold of a picture of an original, and the color seems to be quite off. What do you think? The top image is of an original.
  2. Sounds like a truly good reason to buy reps...
  3. Hey! I have been together with my lady for almost 5 years. Not too long compared to many, but still a considerable and serious relationship. We aren't married, and wont be. We don't have children and we wont have any either. It's probably highly politically incorrect to say, but i don't really like children. Also we both have occupations that require working at night. If i was to have children now i'd probably see them every other day for about an hour before heading off to work. In short i'd have to give up my job, which would be very bad. I know that this contradicts common convention, but my lady is unable to have children and has no desire to have any either. I do love my lady, but i have found that it takes work to keep a relationship going. Work and also creativity. I have never been afraid of work, anybody who's been in a busy restaurant kitchen knows that the work is hard. However i am having problems in the creativity department. without the creativity you quickly end up in a rut. It's 4 am and i will shortly be getting to bed. We have our private time in the night. I am usually home somewhere between midnight and 1.30 am, and my lady is home around the same time. I usually cheat a bit and make us some food during my shift at the restaurant. Then the ambiance comes into play. I replace as much electric lights with candles as possible. I burn some tea to make the place smell right. I find one of my playlists that is spiked with Teddy Pendergrass, Barry White, Andrea Bocelli, Prince, Marvin Gaye and Anita Ward. The TV is banned, and the entertainment mostly consists of talks and dancing. The food is always seafood, light, savory, and not very filling. The dessert is always a fruit plate with seasonal fruits and sometimes a dessert sauce (coulis or caramel). This is something i try to have happen 2 - 3 times a week. During the high-seasons like November, December and summer it can easily be reduced to once every 2 - 3 weeks because of the tremendous work load. I am trying to avoid the conversation we have seen in numerous American dramas where seemingly happy couples break out into big arguments that reek havoc on the relationship. So my solution is to ask you guys: What is your routine? What do you do to keep the romance going? BTW before anybody believes i live in some sort of ultra-harmonious relationship. Let me tell you, one of the thing that keep us together is that we fight. We shout, we don't back down, at times a mug or ashtray is sacrificed to one of the walls, but we always agree in the end. I am also blessed with a lady that never repeats things from earlier arguments. She sticks to topic and once an argument is finished it's dead and buried never to be addressed again.
  4. Hey! I saw Darryl Strawberry wear this watch on Celebrity Apprentice. It looks fab! Any Ideas?
  5. Well, it's for a friend of mine. I have a Daytona in Red gold myself, and i think it's splendid. No problem with the plating even after 9 months of rough everyday wear. I hope this watch is equally tough
  6. Hey All! I could really use your help on this one. I got these QC pictures, and to me they look great, but then again i've not got your eyes for details. This Rolex is a Noob Factory version.
  7. I am somewhat scared by this article. I thought i was buying watches from Josh and Connie... Not Bin Laden and Mullah Krekar... Hmmm.... shouldn't the home of the rep watch industry be located in Saudia Arabia instead of China if that was the matter? Well, my watches may be fake, i might well be fake, but my disagreement with and resentment of this article is true! That has to count for something...
  8. Hehe... Well, i think Al-Fayed had a bigger model... and my friends girl was a brunette. My friend's name was Chris. He was hot-headed, bad-tempered, a bad-a*ss when it came to fighting, argumentative, often wrong and at times a consummate bastard, but he was also my friend, a loving boyfriend, protective of those he loved, and above all loyal. I loved him, and he loved me, and we both had the scars to prove it! What's a friendship without controversy and some fights? We did however share one basic opinion: A true friend stands by you even when he knows you are wrong. We had that too. So, once again: Cheers Chris, wherever you are you probably have convinced the local hosts to add Cassilero Del Diablo and Braastad XO to the drinking chart! @CS No offense taken, we're not built that way, and lightening the mood is never a bad thing. Take care!
  9. don't really know the policy on posting pictures with faces, so i cut them off... The Daytona isn't in focus, but people who have seen this picture actually comment on my watch
  10. Hi! I keep seeing postings about GTGs, but they are half way across the world (LA & SG). I would like to suggest a GTG in Norway or Scandinavia. I can be helpful with accommodations in Norway (i am affiliated with a chain of hotels), but i would also be willing to travel to our neighboring countries. Any ideas?
  11. Both Daniel and Le Bernadin are good choices. Daniel Boulud and Eric Ripert are two of the leading chefs in French cuisine nouveau. I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Ripert while i was working in Wylie Dufresne's restaurant WD 50 on the Lower East Side. I can however tell you that reservations for this weekend are not available unless you are named De Niro or Angelina Jolie. Personally i would recommend Sparks Steakhouse at 210 East 42nd street. It's got great food, both steak, fish and lobster. The wine list is extensive, and the prices are reasonable. The place is also known for being the place where Paul Castellano was shot by John Gotti and Sammy Gravano.
  12. It's maybe just me, but that one looks about as gen as a three dollar bill...
  13. I concur! Me personally i would go for the fullness and youth of a good Shiraz. Like Black Opal '03
  14. Talked with Connie. It's clear that there is something wrong with the movement. I will be returning this watch tomorrow by mail, and she is sending one also asap. Problem solved! Connie is King!
  15. It's probably a Rep!!! Were talking about Don,the guy has replicated his whole life. Isn't his real name [censored]? I think he should be wearing a Rep, it would suit him! (or at least the character)
  16. It's Tuesday, or actually Wednesday, and it's 4 am. Coming home from the restaurant today i caught a ride with a friend. He has installed an insane stereo system with 6 9" LCD displays. He's also connected to the internet and he's actually running Spotify and YouTube in the car. Insane. Anyhow i got into the back of the car and the first song that came on with video was Atomic Kitten with "The last goodbye". Now, i'm really not all that into old girl-bands, and i don't have Spice Girls on my iPhone. However i was really taken back by this song. It took me back to 2002. To a good friend of mine who was the life of the party wherever he appeared, and to his girlfriend who was the one person that kept him grounded. We ran a restaurant together in the winter of 2002 during the Christmas party period (November & December). We had at that time been friends for a few years, and we did a real good party season. We worked hard, and partied harder after work. My friend had a really nice car, not quite sure what model it was but it was an MB S class. We had an apprentice who didn't drink, so he used to drive us. It's hard to explain, but there was something with the music video that got me thinking about this. After the party season i went to Greece, and my friend ventured onto another project. I kinda wish there was some big event that pulled us apart, but fact of the matter is that we just stopped calling each other. When i got home i got on the computer and looked up my friend on Facebook. Figured i'd have a chat and a laugh. I didn't find him. After talking with a few of my friends i learned that my friend was killed almost two years ago in a car accident together with his girlfriend. Now this is a guy who i would have gone through fire and ice for. How in the h... did this happen? If somebody had asked me 4 hours ago who he was i would have said he was one of my best friends and be ready to vouch for him in any way possible. Now he is dead and has been for almost two years... So, now it's 4.30 am and i am well on my way through this bottle of whisky. I am taking a very belated good bye, and i'm sitting here going through memories with a tear in one eye and a smile in the other. So, here's to Nostalgia and Melancholy! Oh, and if somebody is wondering. We were / are both Restaurateurs through and through. We were in full agreement about this one thing. When one of us died the other person was to drink to his lief and further journey. So Cheers! What i also wanted to say that is really important is this: Take an hour and make a list of persons you used to be friends with who you have lost contact with. Check them out on Facebook or send an e-mail. Find out how they are, so you don't have to sit at 4.40 am saying farewell to a friend who has had a severe impact on your life. Even if it's been 10 years. Take care!
  17. Thank you! I have already e-mailed him and gotten a reply. The going rate for full service and water proofing is 140
  18. Ok! I will contact a watchsmith asap. Are there any recommended within EU?
  19. Any ideas on solution. I think the best thing is to return the watch. I don't have horological equipment, and i don't have the necessary skills to fix anything inside the watch myself...
  20. Hi! I just received my AP ROO Montoya Rose Gold edition from Connie. At first glance it is a thing of beauty, and i will be posting images as soon as my lady comes home from her trip (our camera is with her). It is somewhat depressing that i don't have a snowball's chance in h... of using the watch until my specially made strap arrives from Aaron. As for the lume i think i will let it be. As you can tell from the attached picture the lumed surfaces on this watch are very small. In addition i really don't look at my watch much in the dark... As for the movement. It is an asian 7550. The second hand at 12 "shivers". It's kinda like it thinks it's "heavy" to go around. And it doesn't move in a sweeping motion. Is this normal or a problem? Any help would be much appreciated! With regards, Broker
  21. Hi! I just received a Rolex Submariner TT. When i screw out the crown, it won't adjust time both ways, (not backwards), there is no position for adjusting date, and when i shake the watch it makes the sound i have attached. PLEASE listen to the sound, and tell me that this isn't what a submariner should be about... I will probably have to return the watch, and what really tears me up is that it's supposed to be a gift... Thank you! Watch.mp3
  22. Nice strap. We should have a talk about a strap for one of my Breitlings. Btw, you do know that the watch is upside-down, right?
  23. Congrats Red! It's truly a great thing that you are such a great asset to this forum. It frees me up to be an ass which comes much more natural to me!
