I've been using my Gillette Sensor Excel since it came out and think it's a great razor... I have, although, been eyeing the double edged safety razors recently for some strange reason. I'm just not sure if I'd be happy with the change.
I've seen reps and early gens with a case to CG mismatch... sad, but true. Yes, this is odd... The devil is in the details, although I see the guy has a high post count on watchuseek This story could go either way... in the end, I'd need a hell of a lot of convincing to go with this as gen IF I was considering it.
Hard to say, but I have seen this mismatch of CG to case in A & B series. The price is very low for an item in this amazing condition as well. Also, not sure why he wouldn't include the photo of the watch in the box. If I was serious about buying this, I'd be very careful and at minimum wanting a face to face and a direct confirmation from Panerai on the authenticity.
Interesting subject for sure... I've had several gen Panerai over the last 15 years (always bought pre-owned) and many many reps... The quality of the reps is just amazing these days. I just got a 243J that is every bit as good as the genuine (except for deep diving) for my purposes... Other than the morality of the subject and self-guilt in buying a rip-off, I see no reason to buy the gen and pay for the marketing and greed of the (and other) brand.
I can understand items like the caseback engravings and other artistic items (fonts etc) not being right on a first release... but with modern measuring and manufacturing capabilities available these days, dimensions of measurable objects like hands or other machined items is just plain lazy and unprofessional IMO.
I like it! I just saw the video about it here... the movement is really cool, especially with the smooth sweep seconds hand during timekeeping mode! Great buy!!
