  1. Exactly. You don't wear a PAM as a status symbol and/or to suggest that you have money. You may wear it because: 1 - Uh... just try and you will know . 2 - To suggest that you have taste. 3 - To suggest that you are a connoisseur. 4 - To suggest that you are elitary about minds, not about wallets. (Btw, it is my sad duty to inform you that you are already affected with paneritis in phase 1).
  2. Just my little experience: I had great results from bleaching brown straps, but I have been completely unable to bleach black straps (Don's and Hirsch's) so far. Black straps seemed to have sort of a rubber/gum coating that did not get its color modified by bleaching until it rather dissolved. I had to throw away the Hirsh strap. Don's is still usable, but honestly uglier than before bleaching.
  3. No doubt a very original and challenging design, Mahler! I just wonder how easy it is to get it realized -- uhm, not on my skills, at least. I also wonder a little on whether it is going to meet the taste of PAM owners, usually very minimalist in strap design (differently from strap size ).
  4. You know, in Italy all national italian football team supporters have been requested to pay all their good luck to the team for the duration of the championsip...
  5. Great project, Mahler, and thanks from all us PAM aficionados! Straps for 44 PAMs are 24/24mm and 24/22mm, as lug-to-lug distance is always 24mm, while buckles are 24mm or 22mm. I am sure that a member even posted a draw of a PAM strap, but I am currently unable to find it again. Maybe it was for a 47mm PAM, though.
  6. I bought 4 Liberty models (identical to Mazama with exception of being 24/22 instead of 24/24, and not having buckle) and I may confirm their great quality and value -- especially for the price! Hi Clive, pls have a look here. (Btw, I too got a 147...)
  7. It should turn a little lighter in a few months by wearing it, especially under the sunlight (thank's God we are in summer! ) LOL! This is a thing that I know even too well! May I join the club? I have been quite succesful by simply using a magic pen/marker. I just touched each single stitch point one or two times (as needed) with the pen's pin, front and back, and the thread sucked the ink on its own. I posted the result here. Should the stitching become too dark, you may make it lighter again just by touching each single stitch point again with a thin brush soaked in bleach. EDIT: Uhm, on a second thought, oil might prevent the stitching from absorbing the ink now. Better trying on the back side at first.
  8. I like the strap (as well as the watch, naturally!). But, as you asked for honest opinions, I'll also tell you about the only 2 points that I think they could make it even better. First, I would see it with a contrast stitching. And, feeling adventurous, with a darker-than-strap stitching. I would say: dark brown. Second, I also made the mistake to use glass paper once, and I'll never use it (or any other mechanical means) to distress a strap again. You have been quite successful in preserving the stitching from becoming a mess, but the texture of mechanical distressing is still visible on the strap surface and I think that the strap would look even better if it were a little smoother. I am still wondering on how to correct this issue, though. I am going to try with generous amounts of macadamia oil -- but, honestly, I am unsure about the result. This was just to encourage a discussion, I don't want to seem overcritic. It is a great strap as it is anyway.
  9. Personally, I do not agree with the majority of replies here -- a little with kanerich's and Quark's. I feel as that guy was not trying to call out anyone on a rep, but that he could be a honest rep lover. Unfortunately not an educated one, and with quite a goofy way to start a conversation on reps. 100% he did not spot the rep, he just stroke in the dark and casually hit the point. I think you did the best by acting the way you did.
  10. Wow, great collection! A nice, well balanced, harmonic family. Congrats!
  11. That is exactly the use I would not enforce. Actually, I was not speaking about a tautology -- which is not, as natural sapphire does exist, even if it is not used in watch crystals. I was speaking about the fact that anytime a dealer passes glass for synthetic sapphire that is an intentional misguise and I think we all should discourage it.
  12. Thanks for the advice, Poly. Always good to have a reminder about this kind of activities.
  13. @Chronus: thanks for the info, mate! I also agree on the Tantalium vs Tantalum issue. Still, to me, high weight in a watch is a defect rather than a merit. @tino: gorgeous watch! Congrats! Is it a gen, or did you replace the crown? Btw, great first post after a 3 months silent membership.
  14. So much the better.
  15. Great combo!
  16. David, let's not encourage dealers in playing with words . Synthetic sapphire is sapphire. If it is not sapphire, it is not synthetic sapphire either, it is something different. I wonder what it is...
  17. -- (deleted. stupid idea, sorry, it could work with polishing clothes, not with a dremel)
  18. No problem... I added gold hands on a 104!
  19. And I like babes too! (especially Adriana... )
  20. As you know, Ronnie, I cannot speak about soccer -- but I see we found several shared "sports" in the end!
  21. The one with the 2892-2 inside? I got it! Great choice! The best movement you can get! Mine is: Already relumed by Finepics... Already provided with a Lello's crown... Waiting for PVD coating from palpatine... Waiting for a new PVD crown from palp as well... Waiting for a new datewheel from Finepics... Waiting for a new cyclops from the Watchmen... In the end: it is more than 6 months that I can't enjoy it...
  22. Ouch Ronnie, it is because I made a link to my last post, not to the first one. Try to come here again from the Panerai section. Edit: I see you found a solution Thanks for your appreciation!
  23. I like it. I would also try it on a PVD PAM though. And maybe after adding a bit of Macadamia oil. Btw, impressive collection!
  24. As for that, I also used to practice two different styles of Karate: Shotokan (for long-distance) and Goju-Ryu (for short distance) -- but that was when I was younger. Just Tai Chi Chuan and meditation for me now...
  25. Gold? Isn't it matte grey just like Titanium??
