No matter how heavy the "plating" is on the rep.. it will wear out with everyday wear.. especially if it's hot and you wrist sweats.. individuals are different in their acidic levels.. some more than others.. this is what will eat away at the plating.. if it were "wrapped" gold it would last longer..but plated gold .. IMO cannot be worn daily.. again.. especially in warm climates...... if you really like the UN .. then the ss would be much better for daily wear.. but the HBB that Omni points out is perfect due to the plating does not come in direct contact with your wrist.. edit add: Also .. note that some skins can be allergic to gold .. plated or solid .. when you start to sweat.. even ss can cause irritation at times.. ergo some cannot wear anything but "hypoallergenic" straps.. just for your fyi..

The false sub dials .. your referring to the 'fakes" in which the subs are "functional" and not "working" ?? all the replications by the factory dealers.. have "working" sub dials meaning they actually function as per the genuine.. the constant flaw on mocst of these reps is the sunken DW .. because of the movement used.. the legend looks very good compared to the genuine.. a "genuine sample" was used to replicate it . but you'll have to live with the sunken DW..

I have 2 of V's Cg's and regardless of which case it goes on case the lever needs to be filed down quite a bit.. that is the only mod I know of .. what "mod" are you referring to ??

The replications have gotten extremely better .. but as you evolve in this "hobby" it';s the hunt for genuine parts and the 'attention to detail' that you will crave.. look at Dluddy's franken Pams.. all will be answered.. it's the journey towards building the most accurate timepiece.. not just the end of the journey.. Ubi's franken Rolex Vintage Subs and Daytona's are .. "bar none"... this hobby may cost more than just buying a genuine and putting it on.. these members I mentioned know more about the genuine's than the genuine owners themselves.. both esthetics and movement function.. I get an itch that can only be soothed by a new aquisition.. Ahhhhh, it's sooooo good to know that this behavior is totally NORMAL !!!! .. Well, at least with "Our Culture" I did happen to leave the house once with a watch on each wrist ( i try and keep a certain number of pieces wound and my winders are full) i was wondering why i was getting strange looks at the Market .. I had to do a quick removal into the pocket action.. A Doxa~Black Lung .. how cool would that be !! But what ever it is .. it going have to be rare.. unique .. and if not genuine.. a superb franken .. built by you no doubt.. A~C Lani

Ditto to Ubi's post.. It takes 7 business day's.. sometimes longer for Express Canada Post to Hawaii.. Canada Post is notoriously slow.. and with the economy the way it is it has slowed down even more and to add to that USPS has laid off hundreds of Postal employees.. slowing things down two fold Postal Carriers here in the States who used to do 1 route are now doing 3. and less workers at the Units means more lag time if your parcel did not go out Express.. it could realistically be 2 to 3 weeks. L

I'm not sure you can say that a panerai (as an example) is replicated ... 100.. with their in house movements and our A7750's.. If you view the cyclpos on a genuine article.. anyone will notice that the optical quality of the mag is second to none.. absolutely zero distortion even at a distance of a meter. at least that was my observation once,.. standing outside an AD viewing the Pam's in the display window. And you are buying the "History" as much as the timpiece.. IMO.. starting with the founder building luxury clocks for the Aristocrats of Italy. with that said.. a VS1 diamond bought in Tiffany's sells for much more than the same diamond bought at another Jeweler whose store is independantly owned.. So I would say at times you are buying the recognition and if your are spending a sizable chunk of cash.. you are also buying jewelry as much as a time piece. but there is a huge difference in the manufacture of a replication and a Breguet. or the casting of a Rolex case vs. a replication.. so I am not sure you can compare the cost of the genuine vs. the replication.. there are too many variables in cost and quality. I look at it as,... replications are getting very very good .. especially since the makers in China have invested in the equipment to replicate the dials etc. So althought the replications are very, very good.. it is still.. IMO.. apples and oranges.. A~C Lani

For "Out of the Box rep" SOSF has the best Lume and Lume application on the markers IMO better overall dial quality in the rep. But then again I went for the SW for the yellow dial .. Lani

Thank you for your input Agrippa.. this is the reason I had stated to "follow instructions" prior to the round that is to be shot. I felt it would be more challenging to the contest to see "pure photography" But since we are in the "digital" age and computers are a part of everyday life .. personal as well as 99% business.. I felt mixing the 2 would be a good thought. We are first and foremost a community of watch enthusiasts.. and not a Photo Forum.. but since we do have an avid interest in the camera since the forum and images of our timepieces go hand in hand ... ergo this event is happening. the Judges have been invited to participate not solely or in any part due to their knowledge of the camera .. but in part of their time here and their passion and understanding for the Community. Andrew has put it well ... in his criteria for judging this event... and all of the Judges have the ability and honesty to do right by this contest.. Sorry nnomad... but my decision stands.. I have removed Phoband from this contest. He is free to appeal this to me or whomever he chooses.. and to repeat .. you are either a contestant or have part in organizing the event.. you cannot have both... and be the format to anyones "liking" is missing the point of organizing/competing ... constructive critisism is one thing .. personal diatribes at the organizer is totally another. I will no tolerate it anymore.. if you wanted things done a certain way you should of volunteered to organize this event and not compete in it you been obtuse .. and frankly questioned everything that is put forth.. clearly you think yourself to good for any contest this time around.. you have not held back from saying anything Pho.. that is your problem instead of being contrsuctive.. you choose to be destructinve and abusive.. so I will take your comment literally and erase your entry you really should think about "blowing smoke" when entering a contest.. weather you think the organizing is right or wrong. you were warned once.. that should have been enough obviously you don't learn..
