  1. I have to ask myself at times if it's the marketing with the genuine brand that gives the watch such appeal?? the fashions of the celebrities ??.. the prices that vintage collectors pay for Rolex and Panerai'... all this makes it more intriguing and more on a need to have basis..

Realistically one would have to bear the mystique of the hobby to be so enthralled with all the different watches..

may be it's the age old saying.. "Man wants what he cannot have".. so the ridiculous prices of the AP's and HBB's and Panerai's draw us to hunt for the perfect one , in part it's the hunt and the copying of a watch that normally would be out of reach.

Give someone who doesn't care an ounce about watches a Vintage 1665 Double Red and see what they say.. chances are they will ask why would you want to wear such an old watch ?

And Man, as a creature of habit is always looking for something different and unique ..

My likes and tastes change from month to month.. with my collection.. my collecting has evolved from when I first started.. what appeals today may not tomorrow..

And then the final application... the watch as a symbol of success, power.. with the rep as well as the genuine..

this is man's quest as a hunter..

  2. Actually I think the Omega line has been so far..... one of the best brands replicated.. at a time when other brands really dropped the ball.. the UPO was very good the SMP chrono was excellent.. then came the Speedmasters which were really done well..

One of my fave Speedy' .. the vintage red.. the maker did an outstanding job with this one

As a whole I think the Omega brand has done very well for Us..

  3. Go to your local shoemaker or repair shop and ask about dye..

and in the future I would recommend using Lexol leather cleaner.. (not the conditioner).. Lexol is PH balanced so it can be used many times without damage to the dye.. You can buy it on line.. and it comes out to about the same as the store.. it may be 5.00 usd and shipping 10 usd.. figure that is how they get around to keeping their profits..Car Barn on the net stocks it.. good stuff.

  4. I have the same one.. actually I didn't expect it to be like a WM9.. although WM9 was not around when I bought this one..

if you want a better replica try something like this

    gmtiiblackwhite027.jpg

    gmtiiblackwhite006.jpg

or .. the white dial on the right is the gen.

    gmtiiblackwhite023.jpg

perfection in the GMTII needs to go this route..

    rolexfl013.jpg

but if you want perfection.. the WM9 Sub would be a better purchase.. but about double the price..or I suggest you build a franken 1675 .. tis hard to get really good GMTII outta the box..

  5. I'm in..looks like very good craftsmanship dd :thumbsupsmileyanim:

You really should ss about getting in touch with the Admin Team and setting up a store here.. i think you would be a great addition to RWG as a vendor of straps.. I'm always on the hunt for nice straps with a pvd buckle for my PreV's..

    looks great dd!!!

  6. I rang up Rolex and they said they do GMT inserts for £22, it was quite a surprise. But they did want me to bring the watch in and have it fitted in store

Unless you have a gen to take in fogetaboutit.. :whistling:

and you don't want a replacement bezel even if it's gen.. the newer ones have very thin font..

  7. I used a genuine bracelet.. can never remember the numbers.. the one without the locking clasp.. it's the one on the GMTII's.. but I had to use the rep end links from the 1655 case .. btw.. which case are you using??

  8. Hair blowers .. pot pourri ..sheesh.. ...

next we'll hear bout the styling gel...

but remember Nanuq live in the ice age country and 120 degrees in boiler temp. is probably not the same on the outside.. :cold:

those little damp rid silica pellets are cool, by morning they are glazed over with moisture.. leave it long enough and the bottle cap will turn to liquid..if your room has a lot of humidity.

  9. Forever one of the most versatile timepieces of any brand..an IWC classic at birth

Always at home in front of any camera..

There's a palm tree and a girl in a thong behind the watch.. ya just can't see the view from here.

  10. post-22-126532118921_thumb.jpg

Like a few others posting here, I still prefer the non-chrono version of this beautiful watch.

After purchase I sent this baby on to Ziggy for the treatment, and in combo with the Ocean Racer

strap, I feel that this watch is one of the nicest divers around. It is the only Beitling I own.

I do agree that the chrono version is a VERY handsome watch...wear it well.

Well I think what this thread states is a win~win .. no poor choice amongst the chrono of non chrono SOH dials..

either one is worth the price of admission..

and after a trip to Canada jeff it is a keeper for sure..!!!

    Lookin good.

  11. Hey Lani, i missed the polished Bird in your top 10 ;-) Why? I like it alot!

I do too.. but enough already..

I think all the watches a great..

But Ziggy' tops the charts.. by no small surprise..

gotta get a 212 done like that and a Hamilton PW movement for ma Fiddy.. been working on sourcing a movement for awhile now..

  12. For those not reading the shout box.. this happens.. especially when going from humid weather to extreme cold or vise-versa

I use "damp rid" pellets that is sold in the hardware store or local drug store.. for removing dampness from closets etc....or you can use silicone pellets also.

I place the watch with the crown open in the setting position... in a cigar box with the pellets in a bottle cap ( about 2 or 3 cap fulls).. close and leave overnight.. in the morning or when ever, after several hours the moisture is gone.. I also keep silicone packets in my watch box.. to keep it dry.. Hawaii has high humidity .. I am assuming it helps.

  13. Turned this thread over to the powers that be.. just as a "heads up" to what may have to happen regarding xslyyx.. I know it's sort of policy that the Admin team not get involved with member sales.. but this is a lot of money... heck even one sale is a lot of money for any of us..

So maybe we should stand by and see what they think of a pp dispute..

  14. have there been more than wimpie007, Suchecracks and me that havent recieved what they paid for ?

dunno about a 4th as it seems there were 4 watches involved ??

but one is enough imo.. that is a lot of money .. and with Wimpie and Sc .. you would hope that it is in the mail, but if you have not received the watch and no communication from the seller fo so long .. it doesn't look good.. and if he has removed his facebook ..

you may want to consider a PP dispute with "watch parts" as the item.. no one likes to do this extreme measure.. but if all 3 do it .. Wow..

just do not mention RWG.. (naturally)
