  10. I thought I would share some old friends... I paired my Reps with my genuine Meerchaum pipes... hand carved by Master Carver Yanick.. Meerchaum is also called seafoam... and is found in seacaves in Turkey... they are carved solely in turkey it is their National treasure.. and is very illegal to take out of the Country in blank form ... and if you've seen Midnight Express youknow what kind of punishment the Turks dish out.. UPO .. Red Numerals.... Yanick Old Viking.. coloured with Oxblood.. yes, real Oxblood TI /PVD coating.. fantasy watch .. did not want this bead blasted.. DSN had to go through numerous cases and case parts.. he mailed me after a month and said... no more .. I not make .. discontinued after this..!!!! [ eagle claw on the bottom... Yankick Pipe... made with a xray of my own skull SOSF black dial Baume & M. Baglon Master Carver ... Viking I never plan what I'm going to wear... but maybe these maybe not
  11. Lessons can be learnt by all here.. mainly (just my opinion) .. not to bite off more than you can chew .... we see this happen time and again .. and the label that seems to be synonomous when deadlines or expectations cannot be met is "scammer' .. Maybe it is because that is what this Forum is here to guard against .. so the initial response to misinformation real or imagined is just that ... Scammer .... it would be equated to looking for gold in a river bed and anything that shines is panned immediately and the first thought that hits the brain is .. i hit it.. "I found one" so it is only fair that whoever is involved .. deal with mark though private PM ... any ill feelings should be dealt with in private also.. IMO .... I think we need to remember that we are dealing with a Human Being here.. with emotions and feelings too. I don't know if this has snowballed into the "Monster" that it is.. i for one can attest to that feeling I cannot imagine the resonsibility that some members take on with group buy's and projects that the entire membership is waiting for.. I felt bad for Rocket when the dial project fell through because he spent time and money (his own) on trying to accomadate members and bring something better to them.. I was more dissapointed for him than the fact that there would be no dial for now.. I am going to help members where i can ... for me it's not for reimberscement .. and not the entire membership... because i have to set limits.. on my time... since there is so little of it during a 24 hour cycle. My point is I hope Mark can walk the walk .... everyone goes through bad times in life and I can relate to this aspect of being lathargic or loosing interest in certain Hobbies that could bring back whatever feelings.. we can psychoanalyze this left and right.. but maybe what we should do is give the space needed for the members directly involved and Mark to correct the miscommunication or whatever Mark needs to correct.. I don't think we are helping the situation by posting negatives.. if the post is by a member who have articles or funds outstanding then I don't mean to offend you ...you have every right to do what you do.. all I am "suggesting " is some time for things to be ironed out and not add fuel to the already burning fire.. just my 2 cents. lanikai
  12. "Wow.. I feel lucky not to have sent any money for those CG's that Mark was vouching for.. at 100 usd I could have lost a good bit of change.(lanikai)": That project that was serious one and was nothing to do with me, I vouched for it because I knew the person doing - he wanted to remain anonymous because ironically he was worried about Risti finding out who he was as he had dealings there. However it ran out of steam due to the difficulties of finding someone to do it right and the usual RWG problem of getting members to commit then honour the commitment, something that those of you who have undertaken manufacturing projects will know all about - my DW's being a perfect example. What did happen to all those RWG'ers who pledged to buy then never actually did. No money was ever paid for the CG project so I resent the fact that this is raised now, it's a stupid and unnecessary post. Well, .. I don't know how you define"stupid" with your eloquence.. but I did email an order for 7 CG's.. now if i had sent the money which I would have done if I had gotten a reply .. now that would have been 'stupid'.. I have since learned not to be so trusting.... all i was going by was pics of your date wheel and the fact that they looked good .. without prior knowledge of the issues involved...accusations prior to investigation is a wrong .. no doubt.. i give you credit for stepping up to the plate and if this will start the healing process then that would be great for the entire forum..... "if" you were using this forum to upgrade your standing in the risti community .. but only you can answer that ... i will keep an open mind .. but ultimately the ball is in your court as to making amends or setting things right with the members that feel that they have been taken advantage of... so whatever you decide to do.. IMHO, if you choose to correct the errors then more power to you but "if" you are just 'getting back" for whatever transpired on risti then that will be an entirely seperate issue.. I think you have enough to deal with .. but you can only do that one member at a time.. so I wish you God's speed in whatever path you choose to take ... i hope you can make the right choices .. and members will judge the results for themselves... because ultimately i for one am not here to judge .. just to hope that you can find peace and if amends are needed that you are guided to the right ones.. Lanikai
  13. No need to disassemble the watch.. with the way I do it the Tach ring will not be affected.. that's the reason it takes me so long.. i don't boil the watch casing... I do the zoxidizing with the whole watch intact..it's like watching paint dry..
  14. Yes.. it was supposed to be shiped out on Monday that is when the first stock was to arrive with the forwarders ... but I was told last night it did not get in until last night so it was to go out today..,.. sorry i don't keep track of who's 1 or 2 or 3.. but I bet you will probably get yours before I do..
  15. blury TI with PVD .. vintage dial
  16. took shots of some of my TI's... but the light bounces off the metal and lightens it.. aaarrgg.. gotta get that mini tent and umberella from the camera shop.. anyway ... [attac ment=17301:IMG_1680.JPG] .JPG] took forever ... had to go into my company van too get the right light.. geez.. it was a bear.. but this is the results of how I do the TI.. add on.. your eyes will not be true.. I made these very dark.. took day's.. but if you put the watch up to a mirror you will get the true colour to your brain.. or maybe mine is just alway's tired this is in between TI and PVd
  17. informed last night that it may be sent out today .. stocks were just finished... until today nothing has been shiped yet..
  18. Doc, there are different versions of oxiclean.. the one that works best is the one that is used to soak diapers... (stronger) boil water in a tea kettle... have a small pot on the side with 2 full scoops of oxiclean.... pour boiling water into the pot with the oxiclean in it...do it in your sink or bath the bubbles with overflow.. let the water cool itself... test it with your finger .. (after a while )... if its too hot for your finger then it's too hot for the watch.. it should be hot though so if you can stand it, but not scalding ,if you can take the heat with your finger it's good to go Add more oxiclean... stir... get a plastic bottle cover... this is going on the bottom of the pot then lay the watch crystal side down on top of the bottle cap so there is a good inch or two from the bottom of the pot to the watch..cap should just hold the crystal..since the side facing down will get much more oxidized due to the heat and the bubbles rising.. after 20 min. check the temperature... add hot water as needed to keep up the temperature.. keep adding oxiclean and stir around the watch,.. get a current going.... 2 hours of this is needed .. for my 189 I actually left it over night... it got good and dark .. the darker the better before you refinish the bluing.. to keep the blueing down... this is the effect of oxygen on the metal with the chemical still on it... run water into the pot without taking the watch out ... do this until you are sure all the chemical is dispersed .. then remove the watch from the water.. ergo less oxygen on the chemical and metal.. because the chemical is not there.. you may have to do this repeatedly.. took me hours to get the 189 right.. it seems like the metal is of different quality with each casting... sometimes the purity of the TI is in question.. I have a 117 that darkened and stayed matted while other TI watches were difficult.. DO NOT USE CAPE COD to take out the bluing... too much petroleum by products.. you will make the TI shiny ... get a aluminum alloy past polish... then use a toothbrush .. not a polishing cloth.. you want to just take off the blue not polish the metal... sometimes just dabb.. don't brush.. around the crown and cg you can be more aggressive... stay by some hot running water... i even brush while running hot water on the watch.. to keep it as Matt as possible.. finish with dish soap and hot water to remove the polish and to get it as Matt as possible.. GOOD LUCK DOC ... or send it to me and I'll give it a go... but I don't charge a fee, glad to do it for you... i do use a body shop chemical to get the oils out of the metal... same thing they use to treat metal that has been sand blasted .. before painting.. rarely do they take body's down to bare metal.. this chemical makes sure that there are no impurities or silicone in the metal before spraying primer.. otherwise primer will not bond.. let me know. Lani
