  1. My friends Oysterquartz DateJust with freshly installed battery. Ticking away like a champ now!
  2. As some of you may have seen, a friend of mine asked me to replace the battery in his 17013 Oysterquartz DateJust. It is up and running now and keeping excellent time. My friend was wondering if I could clean up the watch for him. I used a cape cod and a little sapphire polish on the crystal and it looks much nicer, but it still has a lot of little scratches and in some cases, little nicks in the case. If I were to re-finish the case and bracelet, would that affect the value of the watch? There is no box or papers, which in my mind, would affect the re-sale value of the watch far more than re-finishing it. Am I thinking correctly here? Would love some experts advice here. Thanks!
  3. Amazing history to that watch! Very cool that he was willing to share all that information with you!! Congratulations on a great pick up!!
  4. Wow! Amazing gift!! I'm sure she will love it. The strap is beautiful and I really like the box too!!!
  5. Beautiful! I love that ceramic bezel!!! Any idea what these are selling for?
  6. Amazing Freddy! Congrats! I know this has been a long long project for you!
  7. Here's a close macro of the dial straight on, per your request J
  8. Funny you should mention that! I was thinking the same exact thing. It's creepy
  9. I wouldn't mind seeing this one repped: The Ebel Classic Hexagon Regulator
  10. Some great info can be found at oysterquartz.net on these watches.
  11. Jojo or other vintage experts: any idea how to remove the links from the case? I see what looks like spring bars, but I don't see how they come out.
  12. Ok....I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow morning. I will set up my copy stand so I can shoot straight down. I may have to see what I can do to prevent camera reflections in the crystal. I'll play with it and see what I can get
  13. Hi folks, A co-worker of mine knows I am really into watches and has seen my tool collection grow and grow over the past year. He brought in a Two Tone Oysterquartz Datejust for me to replace the battery on. I told him he should probably have it serviced if it hasn't been before. He said he didn't want to worry about that right now and could I just replace the battery. I am going to pick up a replacement battery tomorrow, but in the meantime he is going to let me hang onto the watch for the night. I am going to be taking pictures later on of this beauty. If anyone here has any requests of what they would like to see, regular or macro, please let me know (I am referring to you jmb) Upon first inspection, it appears to date from 1980. It has a serial number of 6463533. It has 17013 on each end-link which I believe is the model number. It is surprisingly heavy! Solid midlinks, and incredible looking quartz engine. I will post pics a little later on this evening.
  14. Got mine refurbished from Adorama.com for $679.00 with 90 day warranty. Upon checking, it looks as though they are currently sold out. They only have the D90 body brand new for $846.95 at the moment. Amazon.com currently has a new one for $823.02 US.
  15. Does RWG have an F5 load balancer? That would explain why it is usually so rock solid! EDIT: Of course, as soon as I tried to post this, my browser crashed. Definitely some weird behavior lately
  16. I guess the bottom line is what ever your pocket book will allow. I know they have craiglist.org in London. May have a go there and see if you can find something used for sale. Just be careful of scammers If you can afford it, I would go new or at least refurbished on the D90 - or like I said, try and find a D40 used. Make sure you post some pics once you have settled in on a camera
  17. Seeing the same thing here. At first I thought something was up with my connection. I am running 3 different connections, using Firefox for PC, Firefox & Safari for mac. All three had the same slow response. Been seeing this a lot lately around this time
  18. Agreed on some points there Ronin. An iPad PRO with full OS X installation, SD card reader on-board, USB port on-board (or 2), and video camera (front facing) on-board. With an App loader to run the apps like they do now. Now that would definitely be the $hit!
  19. Oh brilliant! Is it an actual store front, or more of an office? Are you open to the public, or do you prefer internet orders?
  20. Glad to find you here guys! Thanks for taking the time to post! Are you really in Glendale CA? I live right around the corner from you guys and do need parts pretty regularly!
  21. I really like that Military IWC dial! Very nice contrast between the white print and nicely aged lume! The strap is a little odd with out any sort of endlinks though. I really like the look of it on the NATO as shown in that PDF you linked to.
  22. Welcome back Pete! Glad to see you around again! Keep to the doc's orders and heal up nice and right!
  23. This is a great quote from a music based website:
