The puffer is a pretty amazing little tool - especially for $20.00! Nothing will beat the quality of a good speedlight flash, but in a pinch, when carrying a light load, the puffer could actually make the on-board pop up flash moderately usable!

Yeah, I have seen that in various places around the world where their dollar is valued more than USD but they sell things for the same number amount or even higher. I guess it's shipping or import duties added on to the price? Either way, it's not really fair for you guys over seas to have to pay premium dollar amounts for things.

+1 - Andei that is an awesome pic!!!! Nicely done!! Wearing my 112h on Frogman PAV99 today:

Definitely post some pics once you get one of those samples in! That would be great. A proper Air King would be pretty cool!

I love that clasp! Very interesting look to it! Nice and subtle and very different from the usual looking Rollie clasp!

Good to have you back Andy! How was the assignment?

Agreed ST4....I came into the forum a few short months before the upgrade, and I really liked the feedback rating system the old forum used to have!

It's very hard to predict a rep watches water resistance. I would highly recommend you avoid the water with it until you can get it pressure tested from a "rep friendly" watch smith. A lot of dealers claim they are water resistant, but they don't check for themselves, so it's really hard to rely on that. Of course, if you plan to take the watch in the water, I would recommend the rubber strap that Rolexfinder is selling. Looks to be quite nice and it's a good cost. You can find it here

Thanks Ubi! It's good to be back!

Upgrading to DSLR = confusion

+1 on the D90. Started with a D40 which is an exceptional beginner D-SLR if you can find one used. They are dirt cheap and it gives you more money to play with on buying a great lens or two. I upgraded to the D90 to have more flexibility on choosing lenses because it has an internal focusing motor, where as the D40 does not. You have to use AF-S lenses with the D40 or manual focus the other lenses. My personal opinion, pick up a used or refurbished D40, a Nikon 18-200mm DX lens and a decent macro like the Nikon 85mm or the Tamron 90mm. If you can afford it, then go for the D90, but I haven't heard many good things about the 18-105 lens that comes with it as a kit. I would skip that lens if I were you. Good luck with your decision! Bottom line, like G. Curcio said above, it's mostly practice, practice, practice!!! If you check out this web site: Daily Dose of Imagery the photographer there carries a Panasonic GF-1 with him everywhere (or sometimes his Canon 5D) and gets some outstanding photos. -
Switched to my DateJust for today.

+1 on the idea Ken! Love it!

Seeing the pic that Two Tone posted today made me want to re-visit this posting. Just a little bump to share some more pics of an incredible country!

Beautiful photo TT!!! Definitely a stunning place to visit! Looking forward to returning there sometime soon!

Yeah, the D3s is an amazing camera! Waaayyyyy too much money for me to justify buying it, but it is fast, and the low light abilities of that camera are unbelievable! The wedding photogs have all the cool toys! At least the really good ones who get all the work Just a little back to the original topic, the VNP link seems to be working better now. It's so weird that it did that the other day.

Adorama has them new for $599.00 with free shipping. The problem is, they can't keep them in stock! They are always on back order. I was speaking with the Canadian Tokina Rep and he told me they just shipped out 200 of them for the Nikon camera in Canada on May 14th. Every single one of them was already pre-sold!

I did get to go up to the Skypod which I was really thrilled about. I haven't been up there since I was a kid about 20 years ago. The last time I went to the CN Tower was for a World Wildlife Fund event where we climbed the 1776 steps to the Observation Level for a charity event. They do this twice a year - once for WWF and once for Unicef (at least they used to). It was a great event. Anyways, the last few times I've been there, the Skypod was closed due to the high wind conditions. It was a cloudy day, but the wind conditions were just fine. Only a little bit of sway. I've heard from some sources that on a windy day the Skypod can sway about 3 feet in either direction. Some have said it can sway a lot more than that in extreme wind conditions. That's usually when they close it

Definitely an interesting point you bring up P4, and I would agree that at times it seems as though traffic is a little down. I am a member here and RG, and I keep trying to read through some of the posts over there, but I just don't find any of them contain any real substance. (No offense intended here at all). I am a firm believer in more quality postings vs. quantity. There are certainly more than enough postings here day to day, week to week, and month to month to keep me more than occupied. Don't really have much interest in all the fluff to be honest. Of course, that's just my 0.03

One of my goals while I was on vacation in Toronto last week was to take a day out and snap some photos. I won't post them here, but you can find them in my Gallery here

Hey DB! Good to have you back! Haven't seen you around for a while. I was starting to wonder what had happened to you! I did upgrade to a D90 about a month ago. It's an amazing camera! Got some new lenses for it too. I found a 70-210 f/4.0-5.6 on craigslist for $150.00 and bought a New-Old-Stock Nikon 28-80 G f/3.3 - 5.6 on eBay for $99.00. That is a great little lens. Won't work on the D40 because it doesn't have the internal focusing motor, but it is nice and sharp! It was highly recommended by Ken Rockwell as a great, light, every day lens. I must admit I would really like to get the 24-70 f/2.8 but $1,800 is a little steep for me at the moment Besides, I want that Tokina 11-16 first!

Yeah, you're right. Side by side, I still do like the AMG Glad that's the one I'm building then Thanks for the movement shot too! I think I may have to go down that road as well. How do you like the gen strap vs the rep one?

Nice end result there J! I really like the combo of the case style and the AP band. It's very unique looking! Definitely a worth while learning experience! I look forward to the next chapter in your case making adventures!
