  1. Gold filled objects have to be a certain percentage of gold by weight. It's a large number if I recall, like 30% or some such thing. I highly doubt that although i suppose gold filled can mean gold wrapped, that this is the truth with regards to replica watch parts.
  2. No. Most replicas have the simple workhorse ETA 2836, 2824, 6497, and chinese clones of the japanese Citizen Watch Co movements (a21j family). Three handed watches are the base of the watch industry, not 6 handed chrono movements.
  3. This is true and just shows how much the scam sites' lies permeate our hobby. Check any of the hundreds of pages with actual industry information on plating and the only people who mention gold wrapping are rep watch scammers.
  4. Also, the balance staff does not seem to be broken but the hairspring is a tangled junk heap. Do hairsprings just let go??
  5. I want to look up the hallmarks and decipher them. The .925 hallmark is obvious but the Omega symbol and the others?
  6. So a co-worker who knows I like watches gives me this piece to look at. Certainly old .. perhaps a woman's lapel watch converted to the wristwatch. It has an onion crown, a ceramic dial with silver inlay and something I am not certain of .. a button with guards next to the crown. It could be a safety to prevent changing the time unless it is depressed ... or ... something I have not heard of. Opening the back, it's a solid top plate so you cant see a thing except that the hairspring is an exploded bird's nest. Metal "jewels" and "Swiss Made" stamped on the plate, and a series of silver marks and other marks on the case back interior The Pictures:
  7. Thin noble metal plating allows atoms of the base metal to migrate to the surface of the plating and show as tarnish. However, Josh's site says it's gold plate over stainless steel. I suppose his description could be complete crap.
  8. A noob is the short way to say Newbie, which is to say a new person. It's a historied Internet word. The Noobfactory is called that because a dealer here (Narikaa) discovered them and named their first watch the "noobmariner" .. So the factory that makes Noobmariners is called the Noobfactory. In the same way, the factory which is known for it's high quality Hublot replicas is called the H-Factory.
  9. Yes, you look at the word and it just seems to suggest pan-AIR-ay
  10. So the best out of the box DSSD with ETA comes from a factory we call the N-Factory. They are around $200 apiece. There is a modder on this board who takes the stock DSSD from the N-Factory and applies his QC checks and custom datewheel to the watch, and re-sells them as "new with modifications" .. that member is BKLM1234 also known as "BK" ..for his current pricing, you should contact him directly but it will be north of 400 US. To find the NoobFactory DSSD, just go to any of the trusted dealers on this forum .. like Trusty Time, KingWatch, Perfect Clones, ETC ... Be aware that it is the very beginning of Chinese New Year and that can delay orders/shipments from China for up to 3-4 weeks.

When different factories are making the same watch their version numbering schemes can overlap and be confusing. Perhaps the pam heads here could prefix the factory letter before the version and lessen the confusion like N1 and K1 for the version 1 from each factory.
  12. This is quite unusual. Why would it darken if it is gold plated, as Josh says in his web page for the watch?
  13. The very very best is over 400 .. the second best is 200 ... whats your budget?
  14. Oh my gosh I just realized I mistyped that email address ... I edited my own post and fixed it ...
  15. Send mail to Katt's Watch repair ... GKLONER at GMAIL dot COM and describe what you have to send him, and he'll let you know if he can help you. Generally he will work on anything but 7750 and 7753 movements. edited for errors
  16. Some super reps make it so easy to drop in genuine parts, and Omega does not mind selling you spare parts. It's a win win situation.
  17. Otto Frei and Jules Borel are in the USA
  18. Sapphire crystal can almost not be scratched at all. I am not sure what you are trying to say here.
  19. I wonder why the Factories would bother to use a 7750 in a 3-handed watch like the 4000 or the Mille Miglia .... why not a 2824 clone ? Is it the position of the date window?
  20. You've stated that two different formulas are "terrible" but ... what are the problems? I appreciate your input here.
  21. WSO999 sells sapphire crystals for FM watches but I have never checked to see if they fit the reps. Sometime in the future, I shall.
  22. Here is the Franck-en project I'm putting together for my daughter's birthday!! One $90 Crazy Hours replica + One genuine Crazy Hours dial One handmade Stingray strap, in pink of course
