  1. No clicks on a 16750... It's a bi-directional bezel... Case looks correct; engravings are consistent with a 16750...
  2. I don't see a whole lot wrong... Correct range serial for a 16750, dial is genuine, hands are good and in the correct stack for a 16750, crown, CGs are fine, caseback is correctly signed 'PATENTED' for this era watch, 3075 of course checks out. If anything is really out of line, it's the MKII dial in a case/serial as low as 6.3M. But that could have been swapped in at some point or another during service, restoration, etc. While not technically correct for the specific production range watch, it's still a genuine dial and still plausible.
  3. I didn't realize how badly the movement swap was actually needed. Much different watch now... Smoother winding, better chronograph operability... And of course better time keeping. What a difference! Now that I've essentially rebuilt/replaced most of this watch since receiving it, I've arrived at the conclusion that I should have just started this one from scratch. Would have been far less costly in the long run... Oh well... It's been a fun learning experience at least! Cheers, //ubi
  4. H- I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason. Congrats on the new precious additions to your family, and all the very best! //ubi
  5. I feel for ya, ChiMan! Especially considering how much that crystal currently runs price-wise...
  6. Well, my oldest is 6, so hopefully the gain between now and whenever I decide to turn these over to the kids will be enough to make it worthwhile Definitely going to have to be a long term hold...
  7. I'd have to say, chief... I've been bitten by the gold bug as well. I'm looking forward to stocking up a bit more also. Wish I would have started as early as you, but I figure better late than never...
  8. When I first rec'd my Tudor chrono, it was averaging around -25 sec/day. Somewhat irritating losing 1 min/4 days... So, I decided to do something about it. Here's how I 'regulate' to +2 sec/day without a timing machine... Simply swap the movement with a NOS 7734 : And out with the old. Movement is looking pretty dirty... So, there you have it... Think I'll have the old one serviced sometime soon and then build something else out of it. For the time being, it will be nice having something that keeps good time on the wrist Thanks for looking... //ubi
  9. I've picked up some small amounts of gold for my kids... More of a long term hold, and to diversify for some of their savings. If the cost of gold drops, I'll be more than happy to pick up some more...
  10. Hmmmm... What scanning software are you using? And what infections is it reporting?
  11. Love the Pre-As... A very unique segment in the history of Panerai...
  12. Another vote for left, though my basis is on the pics of the casebacks; the caseback on the left watch has a more defined and pronounced seamonster. Also, the slight glimpse of the end link ref number also looks gen...
  13. If you've got gen hands on the way, you'll be set! Nothing beats gen... Looking forward to seeing the completed watch! Cheers, //ubi
  14. For fixing the keyless works... Uncase the movement and you'll see something likethis: You'll likely need to remove the datewheel overlay to access the spring to release the ETA datewheel: Once the datewheel is removed, you'll have access to the keyless works: Should be able to tell fairly quickly if something is out of place... Reinstall is the reverse process... Hope this (kinda) helps... //ubi
  15. Measurements for 7750 (Swiss and Asian) pinions: Swiss- Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.25mm Subdials 0.17mm Asian (28800bph)- Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.20mm Subdial 0.20mm One solution would be to get Swiss hands; another would be to procure genuine Breitling hands if you can find them. A third option would be to have the center seconds hand broached and the subdial hands reduced at the tubes.
  16. ChiMan... I do indeed age inserts... I've got a process that I came up with that seems to deliver good and consistent results. Nice, even tones... brendo- Glad you like it. fxr- I am also glad to hear that the one I did for you help up during your recent time away from the forums Cheers and all the best, //ubi
  17. okay; if the Rolex movement isn't crude, then this one most certainly is (though it is NOS ):
  18. Oops... Sorry, got my wires crossed. High beats have the hand sizes outlined above. Slow beats should have the same size as Swiss 7750s...
  19. ...and back en route to your mailbox...
  20. Should be: Swiss- Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.25mm Subdials 0.17mm Asian (21600)- Hour 2.00mm Minute 1.20mm Center Seconds 0.20mm Subdial 0.20mm
  21. Nah... I don't think the dealers are too small, per se; rather, I think finding a factory that is reasonable to work with is likely an issue. Otherwise, I'd think there would be a number of interesting watches out now, all with fairly decent build and details being produced by the same factories that had brought some of the great watches we've had prior to the market.
  22. To me, the DJ's, the Subs, the SD's et all... Have all been done many, many times over. What would generate some excitement (at least to me) are new models being released; something that hasn't been rehashed through various iterations and phases prior. Something that is so starkly contrasted from the usual status quo that people get excited again. I'm not just talking about the PloProf. There are many, many new offerings of visually striking designs and aesthetic year over year at the big watch shows such as Basel, SIHH and the like. I cannot imagine that the factories are short of ideas. Rather, I think the problem is inverse in that there is a shortage of factories that can produce to the same level and tolerance as prior and are reasonable to pair up with. I believe that several of the factories that were producing the amazing replications had likely become difficult to work with; that happens when success and growth takes place and the enabler (i.e. the factory) gets too big of a head. Of course, this is all conjecture on my part, but to me, that would explain why a lot of the usual offerings had taken a sort of step back over the past year or so. Also... I don't think it's really so much of a matter of expectations not being met from the consumer end that is keeping factories from producing more; we are a small segment of the demographic, and we are also likely the most demanding and the most picky. The factories could just as easily churn out flawed and inaccurate pieces and sell what they make anyways, as the rest of the world likely doesn't care so much about the details as your typical WIS. The gen folks who are scrutinizing the placement of whether the coronet on the crown lines up is not likely to be buying reps anyways. And for us... Well, we tend to demand perfection in a product that will never be perfect by nature. But we keep trying anyways as that's what makes it fun. But again, we are a small subset of the overall bigger picture. I think the focus is too self centric by saying we are the reason why new products are not being churned out.
