  1. Back before she was Mrs. Ubi, J gave me some very specific parameters to work within when picking out her ring; she loves her princess cuts My goal is to go up another ct. by our 20 year anniversary...
  2. Lani- I've got this buckle that you can have... Lemme know if you want it...
  3. It's not often that ladies watches are the topic of discussion here, but I thought I'd share anyways. I had picked up this ladies DJ 4 or 5 years ago; a TW Best piece from EL back when he was in the business. I purchased this watch as a test subject to see how well Mrs. Ubi would do with a watch like this; a daily wearer of sorts, but versatile and simple enough for most occassions. If things worked out, I would be more than happy to pick up a gen for her. If it wasn't to her liking, no sweat... Minimal cost in, so no major loss. Mrs. Ubi wore this watch day in and day out since I gave it to her, and she put this thing through the wringer (it shows!). We both agreed that the abuse this watch endured was pretty severe... For that alone, we both came to the conclusion that buying a gen was probably not conducive to acheiving great value for the money, as there were better choices for a daily beater that simply made better financial sense (she's sporting a Chanel J12 rep these days; a low cost solution which she adores). That being the case, her old DJ was retired; still worked great, but forgotten in lieu of more interesting subjects. I had all but forgotten about it as well, until I noticed it sitting quietly and motionless in the drawer the other day... First order of business was installing a genuine 5.3mm crown. Actually, it's the only mod so far... Comparing this tiny little thing to a 40mm puts it into perspective... Next order of business will be swapping out to a genuine dial... Picking the right one will be up to Mrs. Ubi, but I have a couple of ideas with that regard as well (I wouldn't mind seeing a Ladies Explorer dial gracing this case). I know that the current trend is for ladies to wear a larger watch these days, but I still think this tiny little thing looks great on my better half's wrist. Elegant, but still casual enough to go with everyday wear. And Mrs. Ubi agrees; I think she's excited at the prospect of having a reborn franken project of her own Not sure that such things are of interest to the folks here, but I have to admit that this has been a fun endeavor and a nice change as well... To be continued... //ubi
  4. Beautiful Cosmo duo, buddy! Looking good!
  5. I've worn most of mine into an AD at one time or another... Never a worry.
  6. P4- Would you like an SS UN MMC to go with your RG? If yes, hit me up with your shipping info...
  7. Seems like they're reinventing the wheel? The 4th generation 42mm accepts gen parts, no problem (aside from the crown tube, but there aren't many Omega reps that do). Gen dial, hands, bezel complete, crystal, bracelet etc. all fit the case fine from my first hand experience...
  8. Whoa... What happened to the pearl? Looks like it turned black? Cool!
  9. The one TT posted is a PAM007
  10. I wish they'd rep a Pre-V MN... 301/A would be neat to have. But since the gen has an ETA 2801 w/ DD module, I'm not sure how well such a watch would turn out with, say a sec at 3:00 7750 fitted in place to replicate the function/layout of that movement. Would probably end up with too thick of a case methinks... EDIT: Now that I think about it, I think a 2801 is handwind, not auto. Perhaps with the autowind gears/bridge removed from a 7750, it could turn out at least decent?
  11. Frankensteined 4th gen PO for Monday... Have a great week!
  12. Incredibly well done walk through of this movement; the Zig standard for these movement reviews. Nobody does it better!! Cheers, //ubi
  13. Whoa. That turned out killer, buddy! I love the results! Hmmmm... I think you may need some movement clamps and screws. I'll get a few out to you in the mail on Monday... Looking good!!
  14. I'm cursing the size of my wrists... Cause I would love to be able to pull off a BP!
  15. Typically, you need a specific wrench to open it... But there are other tips and tricks as well, like using some duct taped rolled sticky side out or using rubber gloves to gain leverage. If you're strong enough (like Lanikai), you can simply use your fingers To get the caseback tightened sufficiently, I do suggest the proper tool for threading it back on. BTW, +10 sec per day is not terrible...
  16. I had almost forgotten how much I dislike modding these things... And not just one case, but a second project case needed some mod work as well... Second one needs a little more clean up along with some other work, but we're getting there...
  17. For a 6.5" wrist, you'll be fine. I have a 6.8" wrist and the one I had fit quite nicely. Wish I would have taken a wrist shot... Case is a little thick, but not too terribly bad.
  18. Wow... Incredible work of art! Indeed... Far nicer than gen due to the work and effort required to achieve such a piece. Out of curiosity... I'm assuming it's a little more difficult to work with machining Ti? Do you need special bits to be able to handle this material?
