  1. Thanks, Dani! I do agree- This dial does make for a very nice Pre-A 002!
  2. Looks good none the less! If someone wants to give this a go, I have a Daytona case to donate for supporting or plat members... 7750 fat case..
  3. Lume charging gone wrong?
  4. Ooh! Glad to hear that the crown went to good use, chef! If you have some time to post pics of that one, I'd love to see it!
  5. Nice comparo! Your watchmaker has a great Tudor! Very nice, clean example!
  6. So, for anyone wanting to do a Pre-Tiger Chrono Tudor, this is the one for you. item 330329594279 Pair this dial to a 7750, a fat Daytona case for some Big Block action, and a standard Sub crystal and I think you'd have something interesting and unique. I had contemplated the idea of doing this one myself, but I have some other projects I need to work on first (some not watch related). I still think it would go great with my white dialed 16520: Maybe next time...
  7. jj69- I'm not a qualified expert on these; there are numerous variations and combinations of dials, cases, bezels, etc. out there that it would be difficult to summarize the faults and flaws across the entire FF family. Personally, I went for the model that was most hommage and less replica. To me, the Tornek signed dial is more hommage as there isn't really a brand name associated (although the Tornek name could be considered a brand name of sorts with regards to trademark, rights to use, etc). Since I view my watch as more of a hommage, the faults and inaccuracies are non-applicable in my perspective. Just my opinion...
  8. Yes, yes, yes! I think that is a great idea! We can use more Tudor presence around here, if you ask me!
  9. K- No worries about that movement holder. That one is fine to keep. It was the El Primero one that I couldn't part with... Since I'd need it to send my Dayto movements in for service and what not I need to check my parts bin... I may have a 93150 hollow linker somewhere....
  10. Very nice, K!! Looks great Very glad it worked out; win-win for both of us!
  11. Thurs: Recently rebuilt Pre-A Jimmy cased FGD gen 2 dialed 002-
  12. Just got this case in trade, and it's looking like it may be a suitable example for a Pre-V. Short, fat, stubby lugs: Compare to my JimmyFzu case on the left: The corners of the case are pretty blocky as well; not turned/curved down very much... Currently housing a 6497 and 111f dial, though that may be changing Thoughts?
  13. I think you'll be surprised to see what can be done within that price range! Last case set I picked up was $400-ish. It was inclusive of the case band, case back, crystal, bezel, tube and dial. The movement was something I had in hand already, but we'll consider current market price of $145 for a 2824. Crown was $50 and hands were $60. I didn't do the stilty ring as I don't believe he had any on hand at the time, so this will bump the price a bit, but the part (if he's still doing them) is a very worthwhile factor to the equation. The nice thing about projects like this is that you can pick up bits and pieces here and there as budget allows. Sometimes, you have to be patient anyways... As not all parts are available right away either... It's a good project to start with... Here's one that I did some time back... And a similar project using a DJ 16200 case converted to 14270 Explorer I:
  14. A franken built DJ doesn't cost much more to build. Last one I put together was around $650 said and done; gen case, gen dial, gen crystal, gen bezel, gen crown/tube, ETA movement and Tudor hands. Add a stilty spacer and you've got a great watch that is damn near perfect.
  15. Not yet. For the price, I'm assuming *maybe* Swiss, but am not holding my breath. I probably should crack it open...
  16. Sorry to hear, stilty Wishing for the best for you.
  17. Just went back through the thread- Nice pieces, indeed one and all! gavidoc- You've seen your fair share! Nice review of pieces come and gone. Quite interesting, that SEL bracelet fitted to your first. Personally, I like 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 the most from your line up...
  18. Take it to someone who: 1) Knows how to properly regulate and adjust beat 2) Has the proper equipment to check beat rate This will yield the best results, and should not cost much to do. If you are interested in learning, ask if you can watch as they make these adjustments.
  19. Very nice looking franken, indeed. I wouldn't mind owning that beauty... 8 Day PR! Nice!
  20. I am of the understanding that there are only one or two case styles that had 22mm lugs. The vast majority, I believe were 20mm. I'm no vintage BP FF expert, though...
  21. Looking good, JJ! That 8mm Brevy...
  22. The lugs are actually 22mm. Wish they were 20mm as that is more faithful to the original.
  23. For a second, I thought that was some new hip slang term that I was going to have to work into the repertoire!
