J- You know me very well I guess knowing each other for as long as we have (and since you and I run pretty similar in terms of taste), that's more or less a given Funny how somethings just run hot or cold, despite drawing from some pretty major similarities.

I know he's hanging out somewhere! I'd love to see some macros of that Snowflake! So, in order to get him going, I'll post a few to get us started. If any other Tudor owners want to jump in, I'd appreciate it! And how about some bracelet wear! Check out how slotted those links are Your turn, Lani!

MP- I find that the Rolex Sapphy crystals and date mags make my OCD kick into high gear. I'm constantly wiping around the edges... Amazing how that little edge can collect so much dust and junk! At any rate... The WM9 is a great rendition of the YM; in my opinion, the BEST out of the box! Not much needs be done with that one to make it stellar... It already comes that way! At times, I miss mine...

Much to my delight, my FGD Gen 2 dial arrived safe and sound this afternoon. I loved FGD's Gen 1 iteration; any improvements made were just icing on the cake! Initial impressions- -Very, very well done; nice quality and overall finish. Nothing new here! -Slightly slimmer indicies- VERY nice! Looks top notch. -Gorgeous ivory creme color to the markers. And they light up like a torch. I know... Trit of this age isn't supposed to be very bright, but these markers just fire right up and add a nice touch of legibility in the dark. I will appreciate this for those times when I wake up at night and check the time. -Satin finish to the surface; well executed. -T-SWISS-T is even better than before! -6497 dial blank provided for easy installation and a solution with dial feet. Cons- Absoutely NONE! Especially at this price. A couple of comparison piccys... Gen 2 is installed; Gen 1 is loose. I will take some pics of both uncased and uninstalled; I simply put it together very crudely to get an idea of how it will look under the crystal. Old vs. New: 6:00 Right side: Left & 12:00: The differences are subtle, but in person, they are quite apparent. And the verdict? I am an eager beaver to get this back together and strapped to the wrist! Thanks for looking, R

I just can't get into raws. I know that they produce the best whiskering, fading and honeycombing, but the break in process is a bit too extreme for me.

I have to wonder if the seller is Paypal verified or has a Premier or Business account? That might have made a difference as to how the transaction was handled from the start...

They're not too terribly bad in price- Average is around $250-ish. The most I've spent was around $370 for a pretty rare pair. About the cost of an average rep... I've tried others, only to end up with piles of Sevens, True Religions and Rock & Republics just sitting around collecting dust. Diesel is just the brand that does it for me.

Sounds odd to me. I would immediately contact Paypal and inquire with them as to what their terms and policy is on such things.

When I'm not building or buying watches, I'm usually looking for old(er) Diesels The 2003 - 2006 range is where I usually find the washes I most prefer; usually in Zathans (with the occassional XR thrown in as well). The above are my top 10; waiting for another pair in transit. Have 5 or 6 more not pictured, but only because they're the same cut/wash in a different size (trying to find the right size/fit is a lot of trial and error). I like my jeans fitted through the thigh with enough boot cut to allow my Frye's to fit into. Friends have been trying to get me to buy raw/selvedge Dior MIJ's, Nudies etc. but Diesels are my comfort zone (besides, I can't do the straight/tapered or relaxed leg stuff). There's a lot of people out there that love their denim... I figure there have to be a few on here as well?

Thanks, gang! This one's a fun watch... Very unassuming, yet I have found that it sparks a lot of curiosity. Had a number of people ask what it was over the weekend. The unanimous concensus was that the overall shape of the case, large, fat bezel and the G10 all make it look far more like a piece of equipment than a mere watch. I think I agree With regards to aging this to a vintage look/feel- If I do go this route, it will be as a long term slow project. I like natural aging with my watches, and so I'll need to let this one get knocked around with some scars and wounds before I touch the dial. Indicies will likely be done to a very creme color rendition of tritium, and I need to figure out a way to dull down the dial a bit. If I really want this to look like it's been beaten down, I'll either send to Nanuq for a bit, or just let my wife wear it for a few days In all honesty, I think this one will likely see some signs of wear before long; the acrylic bezel insert and crystal are very large surface areas and I don't think it will take a significant amount of time or effort to get this one looking worn in. My biggest concern is making the lumed markers on the bezel looking old... As for where to buy- DSN has these listed in his section for $330 per. He has several dial variations and so I suggest browsing dial types to find the one of your preference. I just went with the Tornek dial as it was the most 'hommage' one offered, in my opinion. Plus, I always liked those old Tornek dialed vintage FF's... Just something about them... Cheers! R

For this particular project, I used: -MBW 5513 case -Genuine Tudor 9411 LePrelet dial -Genuine Tudor hands -ETA 2783 -Gen Cyclope 125 -Genuine insert -Genuine crown/tube The MBW case had been drilled and CG's shaped by the master Zigmeister (he always does a much better job at that stuff than I ever could). My own 9411 mirrors the same set set up with a gen 78360 bracelet, 580 end links and 93150 clasp. Lani put his on a gen 93150 bracelet/clasp and 580 end links I think (when he's not using it on a G10). Hope this helps... R

Hey gang- Just wanted to share my new acquisition that landed on the door step yesterday. With the help of some friends (Lani, Kruz and TMG), I got my hands on one of DSN's new Fifty Fathoms offerings. Lani and Kruzer helped coordinate the logistics and TMG ultimately helped make up my mind with pics of his own FF So, my thanks to you guys Now, I know this run of Fifty Fathoms are not the most accurate with regards to matching their gen counterparts 100%. Granted, there are numerous variations in dial/bezel/case configurations out there for gen, I do think that there are some significant differences with the rep. In my particular instance, I decided to go for the Tornek dialed piece, and I view this watch as being more of a re-creation or hommage, similar in the way that others have handled reissues (Precista/TF, MKII, etc). So, the inaccuracies don't bother me a whole lot with this mind set. Plus, the dial is rather simple, plain and signed by something that appears to be completely inconspicuous. Very low key and low profile. At any rate, here are some pics. This one's got a pretty chunky case... A bit bigger than I really expected. I threw it on a grey G10, which was my wife's choosing; she thought it would go great with the little humidity indicator on the dial Been wearing it all day, and it sits on the wrist rather well, despite it's heft. My only complaint, which isn't a fault of the watch is the scratchy G10 I put it on. Some rough spots that I'll have to figure out. Otherwise, it's a great combo... Very relaxed and casual. At any rate, I'm really enjoying it; very fun piece and I'm glad I got it. I've always wanted a vintage Fifty Fathoms, but never got around to buying one when they were relatively inexpensive. I was kicking myself up to the point where I decided to give this one a try. So far, I think it's satiated my desire for the gen vintage; but I may venture out further and give some of the other Fifty Fathoms re-creations a try; MKII's Tornek dialed variant is looking quite promising. Next trip is to the local guy's pressure tester and then, who knows? I thought about maybe vintagizing, but I'm undecided if that will be the case as of yet. We'll see... Thanks for looking, R
