  1. That 2nd one is a little easier to stomach At least it's the Breitling wings tattoo'd and not 'Property of the Dallas Cowboys'.
  2. His other forearm has the FORD logo tattoo'd on it; Cingulair logo tatt'd on his thigh from back in the day. Must be sponsored!
  3. Actually, I look at it the other way around. When it comes to Rolex, there are no general rules. Most everything is an exception.
  4. Not always, f333. If you have a 16660 or 16800 transitional matte, the dial will have non-surround markers with a metal surround pearl.
  5. Here are some old pics I took a few years back: No metal surrounds. Only plastic/acrylic...
  6. Elepaolo- The acrylic does not have a metal surrounding- It's an acrylic pearl; i.e. the entire pearl is a small plastic dome (when pressed out of the insert it looks like a small plastic mushroom) and there is no metal. rather, the center of the plastic is hollowed out from the back and the lume is applied and sealed. There is no metal at all for the surrounding.
  7. Vintage- 1680, 1680/8, 1665, 5513 etc all have acrylic: Neo-Vintage - modern- 16660, 16800, 16610 etc. have the WG surrounds:
  8. Polfy, rather? From the great land of Shitinerand...
  9. I see you guys are not big fans of the brand. T'is a shame, really...
  10. This is a game of patience. If you don't have any now, you'll have some by the time you're seasoned enough to call newbies noobs! ...Or maybe not. Waiting is always the hardest part... But sometimes the best part about a new buy. Kind of like a balloon rising to the atmosphere in anticipation, only to pop and land on solid ground once the watch is delivered.
  11. I do, I do... Purveyor of classics... Innovation through small, precise increments. Maybe not first to the game with regards to evolving, but why try to reinvent the wheel?
  12. Is that a 500M watch? I have to ask as I'm not 100% sure- The dial and end link engraving for the rubber strap might seem to give the impression that it is, but it needs to state 500M in at least 6 other locations on the case/dial/strap before one can really claim legitimacy Okay, all kidding aside- This is indeed a very nice looking piece. The dial is perhaps a bit busy, but no more so than the SMP300 or even Sub with all the text on the surface, wave patterns, etc. My pref for this one would be for the bracelet, since it omits the depth rating claim redundancy, but I could possibly see myself buying one. It's not too ostentatious, and looks pretty solid with pleasing aesthetic angles.
  13. I really like that funky bezel the Chronomat B01 comes with, and I especially like the datefont. Nice little details...
  14. Thanks for sharing your adventure, TeeJay! I've always wanted to visit the land of my heritage... When my kids are old enough to appreciate it, I'll definitely have to embark on that journey. For now, I live vicariously through the eye and camera shutter of others Cheers! R
  15. Subdials are pretty big. Way too big and a little too close for a 6263. Also, those lugs look a bit angled on the tops.
  16. I'm usually able to find something positive in just about anything in life- Doesn't really matter what it is, but there's always something to be appreciated if one were to look hard enough. I find it interesting that so many people have a strong hatred for certain things; most times I suspect it's because they don't fully understand the item or subject of their disdain. There's something to be said for having an open mind. While certain things may not be to everyone's taste, I think everyone would benefit from at least trying something before completely dismissing it. That applies to more than just watches in my mind...
  17. 2776 25j is absolutely correct for a 9401/0, however I made the recommendation for the 2784 as it's a little easier to source a la carte.
  18. XVI- I'm in like Flynn!
  19. It's interesting to think of the stigma that a brand name can carry, simply for being a successful, popular brand. I know several people who have had great disdain for Rolex, only to end up cherishing one as a purchase after 'coming around'. I don't think it's any surprise that many people purchase a Rolex once they've 'arrived' at success; the coronet is an easily recognizable status symbol and a global household name. Perhaps much of the stigma comes from being too 'mainstream', or because they are one of the most heavily faked time pieces out there- Imitation being a form of flattery and all, and it's not just the fakes that have copied their style; a good number of other watch designs out there are based on similar characteristics to the Oyster. Kind of reminds me of that article Dowling wrote- Why Rolex is the best brand in the world. However, don't let the stigma turn you off on a Rolex. Give one a try... You might actually like it.

    SNOW!

I remember getting snow around this time a few years back here in Denver... Didn't stick, but it was pretty slushy...
  21. the 27/22 straps measure closer to 26.5mm if I recall correct. Not a true 27mm...
