  1. Well, I was going to use it for a project- The plan was to mod an MBW 1680/5513 case (CG's, lug holes, tube), PVD it with RG and install the dial/hands/movement assembly destro style and throw it on a khaki NATO, but I am not sure if I'd ever get around to it. Why, you interested?
  2. Sorry, Kurt. No 2846 in inventory. All I have is this 2783 with Tudor LePrelet dial:
  3. I will need to see what I have in inventory. I very well may have a slow beat...
  4. ROFL! This thread is over 2 years old!! BTW, does Maciek still visit the forum?
  5. Looks like one of the old, quartz TAG Kirium chrono reps. Had one of a similar flavor some 7 or 8 years ago. Think Avitt has the same one I did (two subsidiary dials up top towards 10:00 and 2:00 and one at 6:00). Might be of the same era or so... Hard to say based on that pic, though.
  6. Sounds like the escapement is shot, thus allowing the mainspring to unload at a much faster rate? I know this has happened to some PAM owners in their Fiddys.... If you need a new movement, I think I have a few in my bins...
  7. If one wants one of these badly enough, they can be freely obtained at a zero dollar cost by robbing Liberace's grave...
  8. I know exactly how you feel. There's nothing like seeing a long term project come to a close, however the path to get there in collecting parts, missing out on and closing deals, finding that one single piece that takes a year or longer to obtain, and putting it all together with your own two hands... It makes the entire endeavor interesting but also helps solidify a personal, sentimental attachment to the piece being built. Nothing like seeing it all come together, and when you finally strap that watch to your wrist, look down and realize 'I built this...', it makes it all worth the time, effort, money and wait. Beautiful piece, Namor. I love it!
  9. It's the only way to get the caseback off of these things...
  10. Always nice to have both... And both look great. Congrats!
  11. I miss Ed. I hope that he's somewhere enjoying a nice, frosty cold brew and some boobies. Two of his favorite passions...
  12. Personally, I like the plain jane ol' vintage Dirks... But, I don't change straps too often Lots of great strap combos you guys have! DL- That 28 is HOT!
  13. BA- Yes, yes... You know how much I love those domed plexis!! I think my first fascination for these things came about when Arthur was talking about them some time ago. What I wouldn't give for his collection! At the time, I think I was helping him with a DW... And, I never really researched the Doxas properly. I'll have to see if I can dig up some old threads I saved that he posted (I think from over on that one forum you don't like). Hopefully those URLs still work. BTW... Any pics of your Doxa BL?
  14. Now the Black Lung... That is a stunner! I'll have to research... BTW, Lani- I'm working on getting out of the office now to go and wrap up your stuff! I'll give you a hollar (or an email or a PM) later with the specifics...
  15. I'll ping the missus on that when I get home.
  16. Yeah... I've been eyeing one for a long time. Not sure the exact one though (I think the Sub300T?); whichever one Dirk Pitt wears...
  17. Hmmmm... COMEX dial is going to be pretty difficult to source. I recall seeing one last Summer with hands- $58K US. At that price, I think it would be better just to buy a complete DRSD PP, or 1655 and a 6263... Standard 1665 dials are easier to find and a little less expensive- Say only $1k-ish for a white if you want to go that route? Or $800 for a Lumi RSC service dial...
  18. Johnny 'Wad' Holmes? C'mon... I can't be the only one with a dirty mind?
  19. ROFL! I had to fabricate that one to see if: 1) Anyone would be paying attention 2) To meet the criteria of 'strangest' item used to mod a watch Think that would probably most certainly maybe qualify as odd I've been scouring the net this morning, looking for something interesting to build. So far, I'm where I started this morning- No new projects. The thought of doing a B-UHR Flieger style watch sounds fun... Or an old diver project like a FF style or Doxa Sub... I was also maybe thinking of trying to find an old Seiko 62MAS... Had a quick look at some of the stuff out there from the usual dealers... Seems as though most of it is status quo for now...
  20. Hmmm... I dunno if pop guns are still around, but I am still waiting on a secret decoder ring I sent away for...
  21. Man, that thing is a beast. 48mm?? My wrist barely accomodates the 45mm...
  22. I dunno what it is... Maybe the caffiene (by 8:30 this morning, I've had a coke and 3 cups of coffee), maybe the end of a long, stressful week... Maybe a lack of sleep? But I am just slap happy(!). I was just stomping around the office to some strange techno song playing on my playlist; a watch on each wrist and slightly foaming at the mouth. Does that sound normal? I know what it is... I need to buy something. You know... Being a compulsive buyer and whatnot, I always have to be buying something. My left eye will start twitchng if I don't. What would you guys buy? I've been out of the hobby for so long, I am not certain what's out these days that's worth looking at. Anything? Love, Ubi
  23. I gotta say... I was about ready to tear my hair out waiting for 5 weeks... The wait is part of the excitement to an extent; there comes a time when that excitement turns to worry, then to concern and then to being a frantic, nerve racking mess For me, the above transition took place in the course of 2 hours or so, on the last day before my watch finally arrived...
