Canadian Post is kind of funky for me sometimes. I've had parcels arrive in 3 business days, and my longest wait was 5 weeks. Both were with the expedited EMS equivalent method of shipping. So, it's difficult to say when you need to be concerned. Who knows... It could be out with your mail carrier right now, waiting to be delivered today.
Patience is one of those requisites with this hobby... But I know it's hard to be patient when you have something en route with anticipation building...
Wow. That sucker's beat. It's difficult to tell if the dial is spotted, or if the crystal is pitted. I'm leaning more towards the dial; if it were the crystal, you'd see the same spots over the hands and other dark areas, whereas the spotting looks isolated to a couple of sections of the dial.
Might make for a nice restoration project at the right price...
I agree that a Dremel is great to use if the scratches are prominent; if they are simple hair lines, I prefer the Cape Cod as it allows me to finesse the surface. Plus, it shouldn't take too much effort to eliminate hairline swirls.
Cape cod will do the trick. Just need to apply elbow grease and tape off the brushed areas so that you do not end up polishing adjacent areas unintentionally.
Get the 116520. At the end of the day, a rep will be a rep; a gen will always be gen. However, a watch is just a watch
Reps are a fun and fascinating hobby. However, there's nothing like the real thing.
I think Lani has one of the most focused and 'built' collections- Seems that all of his watches endure a lengthy list of mods with lots of attention to detail. Tanfo has a lot of quantity, but he doesn't care about modding, or perfecting.
I know there are a few others on the forum, who keep a lower profile that also have large, modded collections...
Things you can always count on:
-Day
-Night
-12 mo/year
-60 sec/min
-Idiots posting rep watches in gen forums
I especially like how the poster claimed to have received the watch from an AD!
Where did the stem break? Hopefully, it snapped in the middle- A break near the stem boss or at the crown may be problematic, as there may not be enough stem left to grip and extract the broken portion from the movement or crown.
If the break was in the middle, all you'll likely need is a stem; it should be a pretty straight forward fix.
