  1. R- You've got incredibly good taste, if I do say so myself The first step to an addiction is ackowledging you have one. I'm Randy, and I'm a watch-a-holic...
  2. @Jawo- If you want to retrofit a strap to a bracelet model, you'll need the conversion links; the bracelet has them built into the main link, so the only way to have the versatility of both (i.e. without destroying the bracelet to get these links) is to get the conversion kit.
  3. Alextor- Nice choice! Just put my 14270 franken back together... Stress testing for now and will have the hands relumed with SL and movement serviced shortly...
  4. Hi Blakkout... Welcome to the forum. There are a number of different sources in which quality pieces can be found. Your price range is fair, and I believe you should be able to find a nice watch near, or within that figure. You might want to give some thought to the kind of watch you're after; i.e. sports watch, dress watch, etc and start filtering your searches based on that criteria to narrow down results. I highly recommend getting familiar with the 'Collectors' section, and reading reviews where applicable. In addition, there is quite a lot of history in this forum; searching for a subject will typically yield good results. Best of luck and have fun!
  5. Hmmmm... Perhaps a nice companion to my Cosmos...? I've always liked the SMP Chrono...
  6. Fair enough Nothing personal here... Just trying to understand your logic. That said... Please, carry on...
  7. Starting this week off a little different. Rarely do I ever wear this one; I tend to find myself opting for something more familiar, though I felt compelled to give the crown a wind this morning while giving the collection a quick once over... Size comparison... The lack of bezel and full dial/crystal lend this one a larger feel than it's 40mm size might otherwise imply... Watching that tourbillon cage spin in the aperture is a bit mesmerizing...
  8. Right after posting I looked this up as well in Google. Damn spambots!
  9. Or something more like Big Brother? I've been seeing this user account popping up here and there on the forum within threads... Just curious.
  10. Great looking Sub, Stephane!! You oughta toss a 3135 inside for good measure
  11. K- Who said I'm posting against it? Simply offering a different perspective to an open thread; it's not an opposition, per se. People's values and opinions differ as much as their tastes. That's just my take on it.
  12. My personal philosophy- People, tastes and preferences all differ from person to person. What might be right for you simply might not be for someone else and vice versa. That doesn't make it wrong, in my book; only different. Does one's personal attire accurately reflect the kind of person they are? Maybe yes, maybe no. That said, how would you know unless you got to know that person? Not just that 'type' of person (from a stereotypical perspective) but that specific person? From my standpoint: I really don't care what someone else has on their wrist, or what shoes or shirt they're wearing or how they look; it's not on my wrist, I'm not forced to buy it and someone else's preference in what possessions they choose to own does me absolutely zero harm. And likewise the other way around. I wear what I enjoy to please me, no one else. If someone wants to tell me what they think of my choices, that's absolutely fine. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Would it bother me? Not one bit as I'm not out to please others. Bottom line- tastes differ. Variety makes the world go around. Heck, variety is the spice of life, as quoted by your sig. I think there's a lot more to worry about in life than what someone else has or chooses to wear. Just sayin'...
  13. JoJo- I agree. Typically, the dial and crystal prices are a bit higher... Insert can go past the $500 mark if it's the thick font with acrylic pearl. But everything else seems about right...
  14. Arch... Hit me up on email. I might have something for you...
  15. D- Great review and breakdown! I can only hope that they do an older case with correct bezel assembly, no rehaut engraving and lug holes! I would be on cloud 9 if they did!
  16. Seems about right, +/- a couple hundred. The total cost is also a moving target, as a good majority of parts that I typically see are priced in Euro figures; the exchange rate for any given day may be for or against the tide, depending...
  17. Good point, R. I have edited my post accordingly...
  18. The correct ref for the black dial in steel case and bracelet: 25721ST.00.1000ST.08 Simply google the ref above
  19. The hands are definitely not correct. But the dial is an old gen Beyeler...
  20. Kruz, Despite it's flaws, I bought the black dial 'Themes'. The differences between gen and rep don't bother me too much; black just works better for me
  21. Man, that is smokin' HOT! Nice, bold fonts and perfectly aligned, too! Now be honest.... Since having that datewheel installed, how many times have you looked down at your watch only to look at the date (paying no attention to the time)?
  22. Out of curiosity, I do wonder what the average potential ROO candidate's wrist size is? Mine is 6.75"; due to the wide, angular (and thick) case, long lug to lug measurement and less than flexible bracelet links, I'm not sure I can effective pull this watch off on the wrist (comfortably)... I guess we'll see
  23. My opinion (and it's just my opinion)- Who cares? It's just a watch If someone is judging or forming an opinion about another person based on what they have on their wrist, then they should perhaps consider taking a look at themselves first. That said... I wear what I like, and that to me is all that matters. What does that say about me? I'd interpret it as: 'I enjoy my hobby, but I don't expect others to understand'.
