  1. One thing with the 1675 that has always been a bit funky- The gen uses the 5.3mm crown! So... That's always been the hurdle for me... I do have some bits and pieces for a 1675... Purchased in tandem with a lot of doc's parts from back in the day... But still looking for a good basis to start with (though Pete's solution looks quite nice)... Another thing to note- The gen uses a very shallow rehaut... And a very thin case! But the project is looking really good so far! I'm eager to see how this turns out, Pete!
  2. Looks pretty sinister, A. I dig it! I do have to ask, however... Without the dial to hold the minute wheel on, what are you using to keep that pinion in place?
  3. All the best while you get things back on track! Kindest regards... R
  4. Gorgeous! Both look absolutely amazing...
  5. On my wrist today... Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Feels kinda wierd, cause it's been years since I've gone without a watch on. I have that sensation that I forgot something...
  6. For the first time in a very long time- I'm not entirely sure what to wear for Weds and Thurs...
  7. Well on your way... My pair send their regards Looking forward to seeing you finish this one...
  8. I'm down! Been a while since we got together for a meet... So true... And we're only half way through. Such is the way of this addiction....
  9. Yes, indeed. Could be a very pricey month... Here's hoping it's worth the wait and money
  10. B- Long time since I've seen you around! Hope you are doing well.... Still have that gorgeous 5514?
  11. My experience with the few 1655 reps out there is that a gen 116 cyclope will not work. The 1655 and 1675 have a larger diameter opening for the dial and as such, the retaining lip/rehaut combo are also larger. Since most 1655 reps seem to be based upon a 1680 type case, the gen crystal is too large to fit securely, or in the case of MBW cases, I seem to recall that the crystal actually fits inside of a lip that sits slightly taller than the rehaut (this case is based upon a modern case using a sapphire crystal).
  12. In the first one, he did wear the EP400 based 40mm... The second film, he wore the 196...
  13. I believe that's a PAM74; 40mm chrono with OPIV movement (aka the El Primero 400)...
  14. I hope you all realize that rek001 is of the female persuasion...
  15. This is a very interesting watch... I'm finding myself... Intrigued...
  16. I've been approached by friends from time to time with inquiries of certain watches within my collection. If the watch in question is one that I just don't wear any longer, or is one that I don't have a strong emotional/sentimental attchment to, I have no problem with passing it along; especially if I know it's going to a good home. Doesn't happen often, but every once in a blue moon... Anything could be possible.
  17. Very interesting information about the Tudor casebacks. Was not aware of the smaller case thread diameter... Guess that throws the option of using a gen caseback out the window Perhaps I'll simply leave the caseback as-is/unengraved... Thanks for the insight!
  18. Thanks, everyone for the great feedback! Your comments and interest in my project are appreciated. Sorry for the long string of replies following... I felt it might be easier to quote all in a single reply vs. acknowledging each on an individual basis... Doh!! I wonder if the person you sold it to still has it? BTW... $1200 for a snowflake 10 years ago was a pretty good deal on your part! I probably would have sold then as well for that dollar figure Thanks, SL... Your kind words are appreciated! Heehee... I'm afraid that even if my post man were to deviate that far off course, all you'd receive is an empty case All the guts and innards are sitting here on my work bench... Thanks again for the great hands! They really made a huge difference in this watch, and were a key factor in influencing the direction of this project. I couldn't have done this without your help! Thank you, as always B. I have to admit that I was getting bored there for a while... Thank you, Tribal. I am still looking for the best solution regarding the caseback. I'll be using the standard caseback for now; not sure if I'll have this one engraved, or find a gen. I do agree that this is one of the easier (and admittedly, one of the more pleasurable) projects I've done in a while. I've not had this much fun since building my first Daytona
