  1. If the manufacturers do decide to make a better 16600, I hope they also tackle the crystal and bezel diameter too. That's the even bigger flaw, in my opinion, as the genuine 16600 has a crystal that is almost 1mm smaller than the genuine 16610, and a bezel that is around .7mm smaller. The reps all seem to use a Sub caseband as the basis for their versions. Now... How much of a difference does 1mm make? Quite a large difference, especially if you've ever handled a gen 16610 and 16600 in your hands at the same time to compare...
  2. V72 DW 6263 may be my next project... Followed by a 116520 Franken just to round things out...
  3. Heehee... It sometimes causes me to lie awake too. The rapid ticking that this 36.600bph movement makes causes me to lie awake restless. So, I usually end up putting the watch in a different room No worries! Even if I wanted to, my wife won't let me sell. I was joking around with her after I finished the Dayto and said 'Now that it's complete, it's time to sell it off...' to which she replied that after watching me fuss over this thing for a year, she's not going to let me do anything of the sort. Thank you, my friend Thank you! Unfortunately, no filters or photoshop. I have been wanting to buy a filter, but never get around to it. I'd like to upgrade to a DSLR sometime too, as the Canon that I have now has seen some better days
  4. Man, Tribal... That looks great! I may have to get a PO too!
  5. I may be mistaken, but I believe it indicates the division and group that the divers were in...
  6. Was his wrist turning green from his $600.00 'Swiss Made' piece o' [censored]?
  7. Yes. I've installed 2846's into these (all MBW):
  8. It does look like a 2846, except for the rotor; the rotor in the original post is more characteristic to a 2836 than a 2846. But, that's not to say that rotors can't be swapped But, to be fair, the 2846 is basically the same mainplates and bridges as a 2836; if you look at ETA's schematics, they list the 2836 and 2846 on the same spec sheet. They would indeed! As a matter of fact, I do this very swap in all of my MBW vintage Rolex watches
  9. For some reason, the more and more I think about it, the more I seem to recall the prior 'ETA Debacle' with the watches from Paul and Silix involving some Racine (Enicar spelled backwards) movements... Does anyone else remember this? Or maybe I'm taking crazy pills
  10. T'is genuine! 3.5M serial dates this to 72/73 (caseback correlates) with a MKIV dial as a replacement (this one probably had a MKII dial originally). Also replaced: -Crown and tube (should be pre-Triplock 7mm crown/tube set) -Crystal (should be a Superdome 39) -Bracelet (should be a 9315) Overall, a nice watch with pointy guards. I like it!
  11. Nice Date! Looks like a franken with gen case/dial/crystal?
  12. WT- Do you have any more pics of your GMT Master?
  13. Figured I'd kick off the wrist check for By-Tor.... What will you be strapping to your wrist to get your week going? I'll be alternating between these two this week...
  14. Adam is chinatown. Not sure if he is doing any selling any longer...
  15. I'm about to partake in a similar project...
  16. Chris, my friend, a huge thanks to you for providing the heart and soul for my project. Without your help, I'd still be looking at an empty case and searching for that perfect movement to complete this watch. My plan for this one was to build something that I could pass on to my son when he's old enough to appreciate such a watch, and perhaps even more so, the effort his dad made to put it together (with the help of friends). But, until then, I'll enjoy seeing it on my wrist for the time being W- We'll have to see if a 2nd one is in order. I have tons of other things I need to do... But perhaps 'Part II' will involve an El Primero 400 from a different donor Thank you, Gerco! Thanks Ludo. There are still a few things that I need to add... Searching for a gen 4030 rotor and bridge. And, of course, if I can find the right black dial with chocolate subdials, I'll have to pull the trigger on that, too.
