  1. Looks good, but how about some more shots of the watch, from different angles? I'd love to see more pics of this one... The finish of the 14k bits looks very nice!
  2. Toss the watch (with the crown open) into a little sealed baggie with a packet of silica, and you're set!
  3. Wearing only one watch a week... I usually only wear my 1665 SD, but this past week the Daytona frankenstein has claimed ownership! Speaking of watch box... Did you get your Scattola yet?
  4. Danke, sire! I love the vintage SM300... It's got a beauty and charm to it that pics just can't capture. Lately, however, I find that I spend more time looking at mine than wearing it- I'm a little worried about the aging tritium in the hands crumbling off and finding it's way into the movement Mmmmm... I've been looking at McQueen Monacos for a while now. I may have to just pull the trigger on one before long. I'm always hopeful that a high quality rep with maybe a 7734 w/date or a good DD rep'd module for a 2892 will find it's way into our world (but I think I'm just holding my breath). As for the SM300- Amidst the frankies and the cobbled together examples on eBay, you can find a good legit one, but the prices are sometimes high. Just pay careful attention to the details... The good ones will usually have nice detailed pics to examine...
  5. Nah... There are no silly or dumb questions to me. I try my best to answer all that I can with (hopefully) helpful information. Sometimes it's not always timely (for that I apologize), but I do try my best to help out, not only with questions, but with parts, advice, whatever I can afford to offer. Sometimes it sucks to not get a simple 'thanks' for a part that was sent out gratis, or for taking some time out of the day to type up a sometimes lenghty answer to a PM with tons of questions, but that's how it goes soemtimes... Randy
  6. Jet- Man... That is a lovely JLC! So simple and clean... Very elegant! Speaking of Cartier... I LOVE this one!
  7. Most of what's on eBay are fakes or frankenwatches. Have to look out for stubbies, pointed A's, wrong hands, bezels, etc. There are very few correct ones listed- Those usually sell for quite a lot more...
  8. I got tired of waiting... So, I ended up buying this all original 165.024 from 1967...
  9. Archibald would be the best one to comment on this piece...
  10. If I recall correct, they were sold out. Same with Ofrei...
  11. Hmmmm... €75 is a little on the higher end methinks. Is it new? Or surpluss stock? If you have a look around, you can find them for less- I think Dave just recently found one in a donor watch for $20 or so... If you're patient and don't mind waiting and watching, you can find a great deal! I'll call around to a few places tomorrow to see if I can source any on my end... Cheers, Randy
  12. Eddy hit it dead on. This thing weighs as much as a brick. If the opportunity ever presents itself to examine and hold a genuine 172 in person, I encourage to do so, if only to marvel at it's unbelievable weight! Also, the bluish color of the Tanatalum's casing is something that you have to see in person...
  13. Quite possibly the funniest thing I've read all day... definitely good for a laugh!
  14. It's noon here; I've been through a few of these, and my head still feels foggy...
  15. Is it a handwind? Or automatic?
  16. Haha... Yes, you are right! Please excuse me... I must consume my morning Mountain Dew to wake my ass up!
  17. I'm not a huge FM fan, but I think Eddie's solid gold 2892 Casablanca is a beauty!
  18. Man, that is one nice, thick..... ...crown! (and booty!!)
  19. Man, that 7mm Brevet is just SICK!! I love it!!
