  1. Yes indeed! But what really matters is that you like it.
  2. Yes, but when the claim of 'A near perfect 6239 case' is used to describe the object of discussion, the subject matter should live up to that claim. Especially around here with this group, where we scrutinize the minutiae of details requiring a 10x loupe! The DW case originating this discussion does not.
  3. I think DW's prior V72 case was better. I initially began my project using a DW case... Unfortunately, my V72 didn't fit. So, instead of dicking around with trying to modify the case, I just bought one from Phong. My movement fit perfect without any problems or need to adjust. Comparison of my Phong case with the last case DW sent me... DW is the incomplete case on top; Phong is on the bottom: If my V72 would have fit that DW case, I probably would have just went with it and called it a day.
  4. I don't believe he cares about being period correct or accurate.
  5. praetor- Those images are a great comparison of the differences in profile. I agree that the shape is far from accurate.
  6. If I get anything, it will be gen. Just has to be in the right condition...
  7. Nope... But I do have gen dial and hands.
  8. The decision to build based on cost is only something you can answer... Personally, when the difference is so minimal, I'd probably pass on doing the full blown build...
  9. The current run of RSC service bezels don't have hooked 7's either... But I do need to get a gen bezel for mine at some point. Unfortunately, all the ones I've seen or have been offered are pretty well worn/heavily polished...
  10. specialvat- Please jog my memory... Are you using a gen 1570 inside your case?
  11. Well, considering that the finished project would be all gen, $2700 isn't bad. A complete, basic run of the mill 1675 is in the $3k range anyways. The only difference is you'd be able to spread the cost out over time, and you'd have the satisfaction of knowing you built it. But papers, box, etc. are all nill. A moot point for a watch of this price point anyways... Especially one that you'll be using to wear/use.
  12. You know the V72 is calling to you, W!
  13. F333- The lugs are way too thick and stumpy. And the contouring just isn't right...
  14. Definitely needs some work in shaping...
  15. I am not so sure what to think of those lugs...
  16. For non-logo, you'll probably want the small number caseback, since non-logos were among early production:
  17. I think the 5514 is an odd and unusual piece that blends the best attributes of a 1665 SD and a 5513 -Aesthetically symmetric layout of a 5513 no date dial -Case has a nice profile and is very comfortable to wear -Helium escape valve -Classic Submariner looks And yeah... I'm a little biased
  18. I dunno how you feel about vintage, but I love these: ZENITH-EL-PRIMERO-1971-VERY-LIMITED-GREAT-CONDITION MOVADO-ZENITH-EARLY-EL-PRIMERO-CHRONOGRAPH-BIG-BLUE As a side note- Holy bajeebees! I used this particular Movado/EP 3019 to build my (now watchmeister's) 16520! Datron $4300?! I think I paid $1200 for mine...
  19. Gotta go 5514! In my opinion, of course!
  20. tomhorn is correct; the 16520 is EP 400 powered: The 6265 is V72 powered:
  21. Are you looking for modern? Or vintage? Modern, the EP400 was used in the Ebel 1911, some Daniel Roth pieces, of course the Rolex 16520, Concord, Parmigiani, etc.
  22. 14060 has a much smaller insert than a 16610. I believe both the 14060 and 16600 have a similar O.D.; within a couple of 10ths of a MM if not less. I didn't click on your pics as Imageshack links immediately kick up a virus warning on my machine... But the mesurements would indicate to me that your insert could be for either model...
  23. Hmmmm... Could either be for a 14060 or 16600...
