No... I've defined what *I* consider a frankenwatch. There are qualifications for what I would consider to be an actual frankenwatch; sticking a gen spring bar in a watch's lugs does not make a rep watch a frankenwatch. My point of 'a franken being a franken being a franken' is that as long as it meets my criteria of being a frankenwatch, it's just that to me; a 'franken' and nothing more. There is no need to build it up with fancy super duper special titles or anything as such. A watch that someone 'built' by adding a gen crown and nothing else does not constitute a frankenwatch to me. Nor does a rep watch fitted with an aftermarket dial (differing from the original rep dial it came fitted with). Those are what I would define as modded watches... If you have a watch that's all gen *except* for a dial, then that to me is essentially an incomplete gen. However, these are only my personal qualifications for what a frankenwatch is defined as. What someone else might consider a franken will differ from what I consider a frankenwatch to be. Just as others will choose to use the term 'ultra' or 'extra fancy' with the term 'franken' to describe their pieces... It's nothing written in stone.

My definition of a Franken-watch is a watch that is built from genuine, replica and/or aftermarket parts. A genuine dial is a requisite at minimum; a true Franken should have at least 30% or greater genuine parts content (with dial) to qualify as such.

Nah... Mine are just plain Jane vanilla variety of franken-builds... But I do believe that a franken is a franken is a franken, semantics aside...

I hear shaving the ass crack isn't a good idea... Someone wrote an Internet article about that some time ago, but I've not had the chance to go out searching for it. Thinking about the logistics of performing that task and the long term results, I can certainly see why that would not be recommended; stubble growth in that region would probably feel like 40 grit sandpaper griding with every step. Probably quite uncomfortable...

What exactly do these mean? And have these terms been trademarked? Maybe it's just me and my old school ways, but I've always known a frankenwatch to be just that... A frankenwatch. Are these labels just different 'tiers' per se, or some sort of differentiation of varying levels of build? Did I miss the memo?

Indeed- MBW 5513 case works very well for a 9411: Only drawback is you don't get the proper Tudor caseback...

Should be 42mm including hinges.

Hmmmmm... I'd say avoid using any 1680 case as the dial for a 1680 measures 26.5; a 9411 dial measures 26mm. With a 26.5mm aperture, the dial will likely not have enough case lip to seat against. For movement, go with a 2783 or 2784 if you can find one. The 2784 is what the gen uses, and will allow you to use the dial without cutting dial feet. The datewheel also lines up perfect. The 2783 is the same except in lower beat rate. Still usable, in my opinion and you can sometimes find these cheap. I used to pick them up for $20 a piece Wish I would have known you were going to do one of these! I just gave away a gen 25-125 crystal! Doh!

They've already made a replica of that watch It's made from MDF particle board with a faux wood laminate.

Dial #1's ft looks more correct... Round 's' in SWISS MADE' is a buzz kill... Date window bevel is as well. Coronet shape could be a little taller... 12:00 hour index/marker also looks better on #1...

You'll have to remove the hands, dial and datewheel to access the keyless works. From there, you can readjust the release. On an ETA, you might even be able to see the release from the side of the movement and gently massage into place with the end of a 1.0mm screwdriver. Best rule of thumb; Only use a 1.2mm screwdriver tip to release the stem!
