  1. Newp. Rolex used the 1570 in the 1016 as well. Plenty of 1016's out there with this movement...
  2. Any MBW 5513/1680 case would work for a 5512, as long as it's MBW. Remember, the MBW 1680 case is basically a 5513 case re-ref'd.
  3. Yeah- Essentially the MBW 5513 and 1680 are the same case. Just a different ref between the lugs. But physically, those two are the same. Not so good for a 1680 project, but very usable for a 5512/5513 and with mods a 5514 and 5517.
  4. If you use an actual 1680 case from Phong, NDT or Yuki, a 5512 dial is going to be too small. The only exception would be the MBW '1680' case which is actually just a renumbered 5513 case (for example, a genuine 1680 dial in an MBW '1680 case won't fit as the dial will be too big). jsuperman- I think a MBW case is going to be the best best for your project. Relatively low cost and definitely one of the better quality cases out there. The bezel rotation/play will vary among watches; even one MBW to another. This is adjusted by giving the bezel washer a slight bend. Hope this helps. Cheers, //ubi
  5. Not true. 1680 cases are not the same as 5512/3/4.
  6. 2836-2 should be fine for a 1675 case. Basic rule of thumb: 2836 or 2846 will swap into cases for 1570 w/ date. 2824 will swap into cases for 1520 or 1570 w/o date. Getting an adaptor ring would help stabilize the movement in the case, which will help with installation as well as prevent shifting of the movement inside the case. Best of luck. //ubi
  7. Hope you are not too traumatized... I still have mine to send up to you at some point or another
  8. Why thank you, sir Indeed... It's got a very simple, yet exquisite aesthetic. Very much like the IWC XI and Omega Railmaster. Sometimes the most pleasing designs are the simple ones... Gotta be Blazing Saddles...
  9. Rather interesting... After spending the last few days with the Explorer on my right wrist, I've come to an odd and interesting epiphany; the 1016 could very well be one of those watches that I could live with daily and go without wanting anything more. It’s been a very easy watch for me to fall in love with
  10. Crown looks okay to me. Stephane- What s/n range was yours?
  11. WSO990 didn't earn the nickname of 'Mr. Slimeball' for being a great seller...
  12. Ahhh... The 29... I still regret having ever let my 2893 EL go. And for $300, no less. It's been several years since... But I could kick myself for making that bone head error
  13. Sounds like another wholesaleoutlet990 type operation...
  14. One more... It's actually my clammy hand...
  15. And here's the piece that started it all...
  16. If the Perfect Clones 5513 comes with an ETA 2836 or 2846, fitting a gen 1520 is a no go. If the movement is a 2824, then it will fit. But as said above- There are better cases to use for a gen movement.
