  1. The later 5513s had the dials with the WG surround markers and gloss finish; up until the 80's, the dials were matte finish and with printed markers with lume applied like this: So, it depends on what era 5513 you are wanting to build; the type of dial will depend accordingly.
  2. Mmmmmm... SM300.... Nice choice, db!
  3. I've been eyeing one of these for some time, but always wondered how well the pillows fit in the slots. Are they nice and snug? One of the biggest gripes of most watch boxes I've had is how loose the pillows tend to be. But they are quite beautiful... One of the better watch box options out there without having to spend $500+...
  4. Hiya folks. Just stopping in for a sec. Been non-stop and knee deep in work among other things, but still building some things here and there when I have a spare moment or two. Wanted to share this oddity with you guys, as I know if anyone would appreciate it, it would be my friends here Just some pics for now... Hope you enjoy! To be continued... Thanks for looking! //ubi
  5. If you go with the complete piece, be sure to get it overhauled for a clean bill of health and baseline for service...
  6. I went with Phong's case. It was the only one that my V72 fit correctly in.
  7. To me, the entire font size/spacing, etc. looks different. Much smaller and in a more compact area on the one from Josh.
  8. It's not as bad as you think! You definitely want the right tools to do the job, however. That much is instrumental in doing the job the right way and the wrong way.
  9. Hmmm... You might want to trim the CGs a slight bit more, but not much. You still want a bit of an angle to the edges that frame the crown Also, if you are in the market for a new dial, I tihnk that would absolutely improve the overall aesthetic; you want the outside edge square markers to be just touching the rehaut lip. If you are in the U.S. I might have a spare 6mm gen crown you can have... I'll need to check tonight...
  10. Danke! Here's a 702 on my 5514: But I didn't get a good shot of the tube with the flange (the flange is only partially apparent with the crown in the time setting position). However, this is what the tube would look like (this is a reproduction of the 702 tube): Please don't mind the crown in this pic; it's a rep 702 crown And 703 with long coronet: 703/704 monobloc:
  11. 24-700 crown is a no-dots twinlock crown. You'll need a tube with threads going all the way to the end of the tube for this (24-7000-0). 24-702 crown is a triplock 3 dots crown; the crown has threads extending all the way to the opening and the tube is without the O-ring gasket on the exterior, but the threads only go to about 3/4 of the tube with a flange at the end (24-7020-0). 24-703 crown is a triplock 3 dots crown. This crown requires the tube with the exterior O-ring gasket; the crown threads stop mid way inside the crown to accomodate the tube's exterior gasket (24-7030-0). There is also a 24-703 monobloc/24-704. Same as the above 24-703, except of 1 piece design (the crowns prior were a wrap design) and these are easily identified by the size of the coronet on the top of the crown (short and squat while the 2pc. is a long coronet). Hope this helps. //ubi
  12. Dave- I think you need to go full gold; either yellow or white to your preference. 16528 or 116528/116509. Maybe with a pave dial...
  13. B- Long time since I've seen you post. Good to see you on the forum!
  14. 2824 and 2783 have a different stem height/position, so they are not interchangable (however, 2836, 2846, 2783, 2784 are all interchangable with one another as they all have the same stem height/position). Unless they have a different adaptor ring specific to the 2824 AND the 2836/2846/2783/2784, I don't see the 2824 retrofitting very well.
  15. Most of the 7031/2 homeplates I've seen have luminous that looks like crud (same goes for the 7149/59/69). Very few exceptions look decent; most have lume plots that appear to be peeling or breaking down and going out of shape. In the case of accuracy with regards to being correct to a gen; make the plots look like they are doing the same. Shrinking/aging/peeling lume. If you want the dial and hands looking clean, have the dial and hands re-lumed and matched in a light ivory tone. Personally, I'd lean towards aesthetics instead of accuracy in this case. I'm not particularly fond of how well the gen dials seem to age on these. Just my opinion...
  16. Looks like one to me (it's had it's CG's modded).
