  1. Thanks all for the very kind comments I still have a ways to go in getting some photog skills learnt... But I guess practice makes perfect, eh? Cheers and bestest, //ubi
  2. Another one that turned out okay...
  3. I have to say... One of the things that I really like about my 1601 based 1016 is the thin profile case. Maybe not the most accurate, but the profile/curvature of the lugs really conforms to the wrist.
  4. Would be curious to see how refinishing the beadblasted case with the ink eraser looks. Seems like that would be a pretty difficult finish to blend...
  5. It's sharp and crisp; definitely a pristine piece. However, I think inheriting a 1680 from Dad's birthyear might be even better
  6. Thanks, gang! BT- I think that's mostly why I posted the pic; it's been very difficult to achieve a decent group shot. Usually 2 or 3 of the pieces are out of focus, too much depth of field... Something's usually off. But this one actually turned out okay...
  7. Going to be starting the week off with this one... Have a great week!
  8. Thanks dvn and TeeJay! This one is a stainless steel Day-Date using a caliber 1556, gen dial, hands, crown/tube, bezel, DJ case, crystal, 78360, etc. Many people think that these don't exist in gen form, but there are in fact a small handfull out there. Supposedly, these were gifted to the top students finishing Rolex's watchmaker's program. The cases are without reference and serial and there are variations out there using 1555, 1556 and 3055 caliber movements. The other speculation is that these steel cases were for in-house testing and as such were never intended for public consumption. Whatever the truth, the few that have turned up for sale have traded hands for ridiculous amounts of money. If you query 'Steel Day-Date' at some of the usual gen forums, you'll find that these have been discussed from time to time A few more pics... And I've got the parts to do another... Just waiting on new day and date discs along with a couple of other small parts...
  9. It's definitely taken some work to get everything Summerproofed! The 5514 and 1803 got new crystals and the 16520 got a new crystal gasket. New tube/crown and caseback gaskets were also fitted regardless with fresh 747 silicon. The only pieces that I haven't touched yet are these two... Waiting on finding a nice gen bezel for the 6265, and the Omega needs all new gaskets and probably a crystal. Somewhat hesitant to change the crystal since it's original to the watch...
  10. The pool duty rotation (that is, when I have the opportunity to even visit the pool)... If I had rubber straps for my PAMs, they'd probably be included in that roster as well...
  11. The truly great thing about the Jubilee is how versatile they are. Great in any occassion, and can change the look of a watch instantly.
  12. I never tire of seeing Hike's current avatar/sig set up
  13. Nicely done, Mr. B! Looking sharp!
  14. Damn nice piece, edge... Absolutely killer!
  15. asf- Man, that would be enough to buzz kill my day Hopefully the watch is okay? Still keeping good time and what not I hope?
  16. OS- That is a trully stunnig piece! I love it! The tone of the case finish is particularly alluring... How does this one wear? Any wrist shots? Have to say... I'm quite fascinated with this one!
  17. Welcome back! Seems many of us tend to drop off the radar for a bit, but we always tend to find our way back
  18. Me likey! As an aside... Chronoswiss makes a relatively affordable repeater... The Repetition a Quarts. Think you can get one under $10k or so (either discounted or pre-owned)...
  19. Absolutely killer, sir. VERY choice work indeed!
  20. Pretty freaking sweet, buddy. Got me drooling! I know how long the path was to get to this point... And a watch of this amazing quality is well deserved. You've definitely got a fantastic work of art here.
