  1. Fantastic! Let me see if I have an acrylic pearl for you...
  2. Let me dig around and see what I have. If I come across anything that looks interesting... I'll send it your way...
  3. TeeJay- What parts do you need for your projects?
  4. You could probably fit the 20mm 'Presidential' style bracelet to your watch; those have hidden clasps...
  5. I've had the privilege of seeing this one up close and personal... If I do say so myself, it's even more beautiful than images could ever capture...
  6. A good friend of mine had recently helped me procure this little gem; nice, new and never before fitted to a watch. This was to be fitted to my SS 1803, which is currently wearing a worn, slightly stretched and notched 78360: But somehow, I just can't bring myself to cut that little container open. The moment I crack that lid, the bracelet will never be as pristine or as virgin as it is now in it's time capsule... Maybe I'll just leave it be and store it away for when I really need to break it open Or is that crazy talk?
  7. P.S. I think one of the things I miss most was watching a new purchase make it's way to me via tracking
  8. The days of cheap thrills are unfortunately long gone. There has been a lot of evolution with this hobby; much of it a result of forums and diiscussions as like minded collectors can put their heads together to develop ways to take really good watches and the sort and transform them into something more. Aspects of this hobby have become more expensive, collectors become more attentive and the manufacturers are trying to keep up to cash in on this odd phenomenon. We've seen a lot of growth in the past 10 years; we've seen membership base expand across multiple fora and at numbers that are quite impressive. I think what was once a relatively underground hobby has become more mainstream. And as such, the old inaccurate bargains out there just don't cut it any longer as they just don't sell; people want the good stuff. I've come to a point in this hobby, as many sometimes do where you've exhausted your interest. Not because the hobby isn't fun any longer... But maybe the personal interest has just wanned. For me (and I've said this many times), this hobby is only fun for me while there's something to do. I've got a few projects that I am still working on, but once those are finished, I dunno what to do next, or what direction to take my collection or interests. I will always love watches... And my primary focus is on building the pieces that just don't make sense for me to buy if I can build my own. That, and there's the personal satisfaction of enjoying the finished product of my efforts I am sure there will always be something for me to do, though in what capacity I'm just not sure quite yet. Yes.. I am bored. I've put together the collection I've always wanted and now that I'm there... What now? That's what I have to figure out. I had given the thought of listing a couple fo pieces for sale for several months now in hopes to help inspire some motivation to start something new (I've since learned that I have to clear any potential sale with my household first, as apparently they want first dibs). But I'm certainly not bored for sake of there being nothing worthwhile out there. We have some of the best replications available for our consumption, all easily obtained. Things that, 5 years ago, we could only hope to see come to life some day. I think the current level of replicas has sort of smashed the mirrors and blown out the smoke of what is otherwise being charged 10x - 20x at ADs and boutiques. Kinda interesting to see just how far things have come I think this hobby, much like anything else in life is ever changing. Who knows where things will be tomorrow? While I sure do miss the good ol' days... I'm eager to see what happens next! Cheers and best, //ubi
  9. Fantastic piece! And the photography... Very nice!
  10. One more 1st generation case... Mrs. Ubi's (though it is a V23 case):
  11. No need for epoxy in the valve either... Just well lubricated seals, and proper tension on the spring...
  12. DW has had a couple of designs for his cases. I quit trying to keep track...
  13. For a 6263/5... A 703 is better (that's what I have on my 6265)... But 702 is even better...
  14. Looks like you have one crown that's a 703 and one that's a 704 (basically a monobloc Triplock crown). 703 crown: 704/monobloc: Lug holes should be for the smaller size pivots: Gen springbars look like this: Your 6265's pushers look like DW's, in my opinion.
  15. I think some of you nailed it; the idea or perception of a grail is a moving target, always being redefined and ever changing. As such... Does a 'grail' really exist? Cause the way I've come to understand it, a grail should be one of those end all, be all kinds of things. I don't think that's really possible... Is it?
  16. Looks good, J! Definitely simplifies the process of shaping those guards
  17. I went a little nuts with mine- I have $3k-ish into it: -Genuine 1803 DD dial for a WG model -Genuine hands -Genuine Rolex caliber 1556 movement -Genuine DJ case modified to fit the 1556 -Genuine service day/date wheels -Genuine 25-135 crystal -Genuine 24-600/24-6000 crown/tube -Genuine 78360 movement But every day I look at it, I love it more and more
  18. I've considered it. If I had the space... I just might...
  19. Disney is in the plans! But don't tell the kids (it's a surprise) And I've still got projects on the burner... The 1665 is something I need to get around to finishing, but I just feel... Blah.
  20. Well, when you remove the plunger, the cap/collar, spring, and gaskets will all come out. The only thing that is going to stay fixed to the case are the tubes, as those are either threaded or pressed in (if this is a DW case, which I suspect, those tubes will be threaded in).
  21. Ughhh... After having built everything I thought I wanted (and maybe even some things that I didn't want), I've come to a conclusion that I realized a long time ago- The hobby is only fun while there's something to do. I've been thinking about this for the past few days trying to figure out where to take things next. Do I just keep accumulating? Do I mix things up and diversify? I've found that collecting parts is almost enough to keep me busy... And almost as fulfilling. So, I keep perusing all my usual sources for stuff/parts/etc. hoping to see something unusual, interesting or something that I've never seen before. Maybe a price or deal on something that I just cannot pass up. But day in, day out it's always the same old stuff. Sometimes I feel like I've reached the end of the Internets as there's just not anything really interesting to see. Maybe I'm just in a slump...
  22. Just be sure to note the order of assembly. You'll likely have: 1) plunger/base 2) pusher cap (i.e. the button that you press to engage the stopwatch) 3) screw down collar 4) tension spring 5) gaskets (rubber and metal)
