  1. I just used the one I sent PP payment to...
  2. I think therein lies the fundamental problem. People should not rely on government to fix their problems. People should rely on themselves first and foremost. Instead, there are those who have the expectation that handouts and welfare are an entitlement and there are many that abuse such privileges. If people work hard for the things they have, they tend to appreciate those things so much more. That goes for both the material and non-material aspects in life.
  3. 24-7030-0 is just the p/n for the tube that goes with the 24-703 crown. The 7030 tube (and aftermarket 7030 tubes) should fit the '704' crown just fine.
  4. I agree- One would think that a person of this significance in the world of horology would have had more coverage in an event such as this. I notice that there was very little news of Rolf Schnyder's death a few months back as well. Nick Hayek's death was well publicized, but I guess that's kind of a given... I guess that such events are not really very big news except to those with interests in watches and the sort. And even then, we really don't hear much about it...
  5. Well, the 704 crown supercedes the 703- It fits the 7030 tube just fine (as it's meant to). I used to consider these to be just newer 703's because of this, but I now feel that the 704 term is more appropriate (justasgood provided education on this).
  6. Red- You actually have what's termed as a '704' monobloc crown with a 7030 tube. Below are a 702(L) and 703®: Essentially, both are of a wrapped style, where you have the core crown that is wrapped in an SS shell. You can see the crimping at the inner edge of the crown/serrations. The 702 is an older style 'Triplock'- It is missing the exterior gasket on the tube, and is instead flanged at the end like so: As such, the threading for the crown goes all the way to the opening. The 703 has the exterior gasket on the tube and hence only has threading that goes to the halfway point on the interior of the crown. This is to clear the gasket. Both crowns have long style coronets, whereas the 704 monobloc has the short, squat coronet like you have. 704: Hope this helps...
  7. Thanks all for the kind words I have to say- Just a few days ago, I was feeling somewhat uninspired on this one. I think all I needed was to procure a couple of new parts to spark some motivation on my part. Now to just keep that momentum going... As far as 702's go... Let me see what I end up with for crowns/tubes. I like to keep some as spares, and I've commited a few to friends already. But if I have some left, I'll let you guys know
  8. Who said anything about buying? Zip me your address...
  9. I wouldn't worry just yet- I once purchased some items from Paul and it took roughly 7 weeks or so to arrive. Strange that he's not replied though... He's usually pretty good about correspondence. Have you tried emailing him instead of PM?
  10. ebzen- I might have a 703 here that you can have. I'll check and see...
  11. Not yet... I have to order it up still. I'll try to get around to it shortly, though I am told that my source is out of town for a few weeks... So far... Here's what I've got: And while digging through my parts boxes, I found a baggie of 702 crowns and tubes I forgot about (I think I have another somewhere with a few more tucked away). So, I'll probably just use one of these instead of cracking open those sealed 703s...
  12. Here's the Genta Goofy: GG Goofy Retrograde
  13. Genta was arguably the one that introduced the stainless steel luxury watch with the original Royal Oak. There were many skeptics of his design and concept when the Royal Oak made it's debut; after having proved it's success (at prices similar to 18k gold watches in AP's collection at the time), all the doubters then turned to him for a design of their own. The one GG watch I always keep meaning to pick up is a Genta Retrograde with either the Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck dial.
  14. Congrats to 5K! Next time I'm in town (probably this Sept), I'll buy you a drink!
  15. Much in the same way a new insert can change the look of a watch, I find that a new bracelet can also help update the look and feel of a piece that is otherwise business as usual. A friend sent over this 62510H (tight links with zero stretch/flex), which I've fitted to my 1016 Explorer. I don't have any Jubilee clad Rolex in my collection, so this really changes things up for an Oyster link kind of guy like me Thoughts?
  16. Much respect for Mr. Wood. He has a very focused and disciplined collection.
  17. I guess I've had some redundancy in my life before...
