  1. Definitely some cool builds! All around, some great work! Personally, I like the profile of the crowns... Nicely done!
  2. ROFL... Cayenne one day... Range Rover the next... And today... A Dodge Caravan?!
  3. Rolex has put a lot of time and effort in achieving manufacturing autonomy, going so far as producing their own Parachrom mainsprings (mainsprings are largely outsourced by almost every brand and manufacturer; Nivarox is typically the supplier). I don't think Rolex is going to take a step back by going 3rd party in a Rolex production piece. Tudor maybe... But not Rolex.
  4. We'll be there from the 9th - 13th; can't wait for Disney
  5. Great watch, K! But more to my curiosity... What ride are you sporting today?
  6. I'm curious if anyone has actually picked one of these up yet. If so... I'd love to hear impressions and thoughts on it!
  7. All items shipped. Just an FYI for those that this applies to... Thanks for the patience... //ubi
  8. That, sir... Is absolutely killer! Great shots of a great build! Your father is one lucky guy to have such a great son!
  9. You know, I think these days I almost prefer the GTGs to be smaller. It's nice to have a casual, laid back atmosphere where friends can relax and talk interests
  10. KB is absolutely one of the best. A stand up seller and all around great guy. It is a shame that things like this have to happen, especially to one of the good guys. I do agree that the buyer should be identified so as to prevent any future dealings and risks with anyone else moving forward. Just my opinion...
  11. Well... I think a service will run $200 - $400 depending on who you get to service; price may go up if replacement parts are needed (though if it's just running a consistent 15 secs slow, I bet it just needs an overhaul, fresh oils and regulation). I have noticed some of these matte dial 16800s starting to creep up in price, but the usual median seems to be (realistically) right around $4800 or so in my opinion. I see several listed for $6k - $8k, but the fact that they've been on the market for as long as they have is evidence to me that they're priced too high. I think the better piece for collecting purposes would be the 16660 matte, but those are definitely at a higher buy in. Speaking on this piece specifically... That's a tough call. The dial is quite nice. Definitely good shape and usually the first thing to take into account when considering a vintage Rolex. However, the case is also an important aspect; given the condition of this one, it's a bit rough. Personally, I'd say wait and be patient... 16800s are still out there, and usually for not much more than the one being offered in your post. It's always a tough call when it comes to this kind of stuff, because you might be waiting a long time before you find the piece you're really after in terms of condition, price, etc. Or, it could be tomorrow. But if there's any doubt... I'd say pass.
  12. Well, the case profile shows some nicks and dings, some of which look a bit deep. It would take a bit of polishing to take those down; I would advise against, as it would decrease value and a poorly executed polish job is worse than leaving the wear and tear in place. The case as-is looks like it's been polished once before (albeit lightly)... Otherwise, the lug tops, bezel, and crystal all look good.
  13. For a 16800, matte dial is definitely where it's at. Case is a bit rough... But the dial is nice. Wouldn't be bad for a beater. It's got the charm of a matte vintage, but the durability of a sapphire Sub. Kind of the best of both worlds with these transitional pieces
  14. Yay! Congrats to 1k, buddy! Here's to many more...
  15. I hope to be hitting the Matterhorn in the Magic Kingdom on the 9th I am not entirely sure if I can break away for any watch GTG stuffs, but it sure would be great to have some beverages with some RWG pals if I am able to!
  16. BTW, 16200 is a sapphire crystal. 1600 and 16000 are acrylics...
  17. Stay safe, brother. And LOL @ Benny Hill's News Flash!
  18. Here's the profile of a smooth bezel on an acrylic... Bezel came from a 1600...
  19. Yeah... Sorry for the delay... At least the stuff is free?
  20. If I still had this one, I could give you specs, dimensions... 16200 case... Gen bezel, 295 and all that junk... Sorry... Pictures are not great, but maybe it will provide some help on profile shape, height, etc?
  21. Reps are definitely a good way to test drive some different designs and styles, no doubt. But they're also fun to play with. I've learned more with reps than I ever would have with gens...
