  1. I agree, DL. w0lf is one of the most generous guys I know. Well deserved indeed! R- Glad to know that the crown and tube arrived safe and sound!
  2. Couple of pics for Utheman of a piece we discussed the other night... I've no idea what it is exactly...
  3. Thanks for the very kind words, gang The 1665 has been a fun piece and wears well; took it on vacation to Disney with me and had a nice comment from someone while waiting in line for one of the rides. Definitely a fun piece to have in the collection and also goes well with the 5514!
  4. Thanks, gang! Having a blast... We don't want to leave Too much fun! Travelling with good company indeed... But the watches are only secondary chief- Haven't gone on any of the big coasters yet. Since we're with little ones, we try to keep the rides to the ones we can all go on; with the long lines and wait times we want to try and maximize the experience for them as much as we can Pirates is closed That was one we were all really looking forward to... Maybe one of the only disappointing things we've encountered thus far. Hope you're able to make it out! There is indeed- Grand Californian/Hearthstone @ 9:30 I think? Just a few of us... Maybe one more if you can make it?
  5. Peace and love, K. Hope all is well. Will touch base sometime later this week... Cheers, R
  6. Just popping in to say hey... Cheers and best, //ubi
  7. R- My personal preference is with the service crystals as they just look cleaner to me. While I appreciate the domes for being period/era correct, I prefer the optical clarity (less distortion) as well as the beveled edge of the service crystals (the bevel adds a more 'finished' look to the crystal in my opinion and I love the way it catches light). I also feel there is added security with a new service crystal in the sense that they are less likely to fail on a pressure test. If you look at all my vintage builds, they're all fitted with service crystals
  8. Thanks, Ephry... But no worries. I have the caseback issue sorted out. Good to go on that. Phong's stuff is pretty good in my book. He's been good to me! Wow- Talk about a blast from the past! How ya been, S? Great to see you! Thanks, J. That's a compliment not to be taken lightly! I appreciate the kind words! Cheers and best, //ubi
  9. Slight bevel similar to a pie pan. Smaller diameter like a Date 1500. Jewel count on the ring.
  10. Well much like Tribal, I prefer my watches to look as new and clean and as well cared for as possible. I try my best to baby my watches as much as I can, but natural wear and patina happens when such things are used on a daily basis. So, no artificial aging for me Movement in the 1665 is keeping great time. I usually only observe time keeping for the first few days to make sure it's not egregiously out of whack. But so far, it's held to +5 seconds overnight sitting dial up in the watch box. To compare, my 5514 runs +3 seconds per day when worn regularly (I haven't synched that one up in a few weeks)...
  11. Indeed sir- Case was delivered @ 10:30 this morning Thank you, thank you I can't argue with the price! I still have a couple of small items that I'd like to update down the road... But it's good to go for some wrist time for now at least!
  12. Thanks, gents. Cost to build was surprisingly low (figures rounded up to the nearest 5). Gen dial $425.00 Gen hands $50.00 (service) Gen 1570 $750.00 (paid $900 but it came with $150.00 in add'l parts that reduced the overall cost) Gen 25-39 $80.00 (service) Gen insert $60.00 (service) Gen 702 + tube $10.00 (procured several of these in a lot for around $90 total; cost broken down by unit) Gen 93150/580 $650.00 Case $1100.00 Total $3125.00 Having done the work myself, that also saves some $$ from the bottom line.
  13. For those of you that have been following along, I started a 1665 Sea-Dweller project some 12 months ago (give or take). The project wasn’t exactly planned or really intended, per se; rather, a really good deal on a nice gen dial had fallen into my lap and the project kind-of-sort-of took shape from there. Because the project had more or less found me (instead of me seeking out the project as these things usually occur), I spent a lot of time contemplating whether I really wanted to see this one to completion. I accumulated some bits and pieces here and there, but I almost cut my holdings loose a few times in favor of other projects. It wasn’t until a friend of mine had mentioned that he was building the same project that I actually committed- I agreed to help procure a case set for his project which would be ordered along with my own. That was 9 months ago. My friend is a very patient individual as it wasn’t until the end of August that I finally got off my ass to get the last few remaining parts (case, movement and bracelet). Well, I figure I’ve been slacking long enough on this one and it was finally time to knock it out. The build list- -Genuine 1665 white font dial -Genuine 1570 hands -Genuine caliber 1570 -Genuine 25-39 -Genuine 24-702 -Genuine 24-7020 -Genuine lumi insert -Phong 1665 case -Genuine 23-12200 spring bars -Genuine 93150 bracelet w/580 ends Still have a few small things to adjust, but for the most part it’s finally together… Thanks to all for keeping me motivated! Cheers and best, //ubi
  14. LOL... Nanuq is a prankster...
  15. Nope. Aligned just fine... Nah... It's actually all buttoned up and on my wrist as I type... Nothing wrong with it, but I am curious as to what you think you see?
  16. Sorry- Only just saw this post... The Tudors I had built were powered by ETA 2783 movements. I picked up several for a whopping $20/per, so I used them in a couple of different projects... MBW case, 2783, gen Tudor Snowflake dial and hands on both... MBW case, 2783, gen Tudor Arrow dial and hands... I've also used the 2783 in some no-date builds that I've given to friends... It's a good, low cost movement...

That's like trading in your daily companion of 33 years. A watch like that would have too much sentimental value to me. I don't think I could part ways with it so easily if it were me. But definitely a nice acquisition; lots of history with that one...
  18. Like OG- Original Gangsta. OP - Original Poster.
  19. I guess I'll stretch this out just a little longer...
  20. Been a while since I've really given any thought to my 3717 Pilot frankenstein. I had been after a gen crown and tube set for a long time, and I finally got my hands on a pairing. Seems to be the little details that fine tune the build; while the crown and tube are pretty small in their own right, I expect that they'll make for a pretty big impact to the overall feel and aesthetics of this one. Now I just need to find some time to install...
  21. Great composition in this pic...
