  1. Hmmmm... Maybe something like this would be nice as well...
  2. Here's a franken I did for eton sometime back...
  3. Most 79190's I've seen for sale are listed around $2300 USD with bracelet. This piece at €1500 (which, at today's exchange rate converts to $2141 USD) may seem a bit high; consider that a 78500 in good shape will likely run $600 USD, you'd be into the watch for almost $2750. For a 79190, that seems a bit high to me... Granted, it is in nice condition, you'd be committed to this piece for a while; if you had to turn it over, you'd likely take a hit on resale
  4. Here's my cracked/broken pearl compared to some complete pearls: As you can see, the broken pearl had it's top completely taken off. It just split in half...
  5. There's always little attributes and characteristics that can help determine what kind of movement is in a watch... -Whether it winds manually or not (automatic), as mechanical Seikos often do. -Winding feel of the gears. -If a date function is quick set or not; what direction the date rotates. -The date font/style of the date numerals, if the watch is unmodified. -The direction one needs to rotate a crown to set the time. -Subdial spacing or function. Of course, the best thing to do if in doubt is to post a picture.
  6. I'll try to get my parts unpacked and dig around to see if I have a spare 702 tube for you. If I do... I'll send it your way.
  7. Looks like the top of the pearl is broken off. All that's left is the base/stem that is still fitted in the insert. I've seen several in a similar state of condition. I actually have a pearl sitting in a container on my desk that is also broken in half (top/bottom).
  8. Hmmmm... Aftermarket hands to fit gen Rolex movements (i.e. 15xx, etc)? That's a good question... Most aftermarket hands out there are just not to the same quality/level as genuine hands. There's usually some small details that aren't quite there (shapes, lengths, etc), but more importantly the fit and finish is sometimes the bigger problem. If you are building a project piece that includes a genuine dial and genuine movement, it's worth it to stretch a bit further for genuine hands Hands are like one of those finishing touch kind of parts... They do make a difference, in my opinion
  9. You know, the G10 really does suit the 1016 nicely! It definitely makes for more of a utilitarian feel. I'll probably play around with some other bracelet types on this one, but for now the Corvus I currently have fitted really does fit the watch best (I think). As for movements... I've managed to pick up a few at really good prices and a few at current market prices. It all just kind of depends on being at the right place at the right time, and acting quickly when those opportunities present themselves. The really, really good deals tend to get snapped up right away, but I've had a few lucky occurrences where a few of those deals just fell onto my lap Thanks, sir. The new hands have really changed the look and feel of the watch. Amazing how something so subtle can have that kind of impact Cheers and best, //ubi
  10. Brand new hands fresh from the wax envelope and cards fitted...
  11. Ephry, The dial is natural patina; hands were relumed by the Zigmeister; the amazing thing is that he lumed the hands without seeing the dial I need to find a good matching set of tritium hands one of these days, but the hands as-is are a good match to the dial markers (and since they glow brightly at night the luminova is nice and functional as well). Build list as of current: -Genuine Rolex 1520, serviced and overhauled by The Zigmeister. -Genuine Rolex 5513 dial; original and untouched. -Genuine Rolex 5513 Submariner Lumi hands, relumed in a vintage tone by The Zigmeister. -Genuine 25-19 crystal. -Genuine thick font tritium insert. -Genuine bezel. -Genuine 702 crown -Genuine 7020 tube -Phong case/caseback -Genuine 23-12200 2mm rolex springbars. -Genuine 580 end links -Genuine 78360 bracelet links -Genuine 93150 clasp Cheers and best, //ubi
  12. I agree- Lighting is crucial. The more light you have the better. I only use the tripod for lume shots, where stability is needed for longer exposure... But my camera is handheld otherwise...
  13. M- I love that Longines Diver!
  14. I have to say- As far as reps go, the Chronopassion is definitely high on my list. It's been a long time since I've purchased a rep (maybe close to 2 years), but I'm glad I went with this one (thanks watchmeister for the nudge in the right direction). Dave- If you've not given one of these a try yet, it may be time
  15. Takes some balls to wear a watch like that.
