  1. Looks like a couple of the hour/index markers could be a little loose. 2:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00...
  2. If I still had my extra V72 case, I'd just give it to you. But I already gave it away last month...
  3. Looking good, Dizz. Keep warm, and maybe while you're snowed in and dealing with cabin fever, you can snap some close ups of the new toy!
  4. No way. Not me. I wish I could say I agree, but honestly I haven't been able to participate much on the forums for 2010. And, even if I did, there are far greater members here who have done more for others and the community in general. I have a long list of folks that I would like to nominate... I don't even know where to start. Perhaps the admin and moderating team for making this one of the best places on the Internet to visit. On an individual level, there are so many that are deserving of the recognition. Perhaps that is why we have such a sense of community here. There are many that are so willing to step in, lend help, advice, suggestions, parts... Friendship... It wouldn't be anything without all the members here.
  5. I take it admin and moderators are not eligible? Or are they?
  6. The V72 is a little bit taller in profile than the V23, if I recall correct. If you're using a V23/MM case and trying to fit a V72, the back of the rehaut will need to be taken down on a lathe to get the stem to line up.
  7. Personally, I wouldn't trust a lot of the stuff on eBay to be in correct, proper working order. It would be a good idea to factor in some extra cash for servicing and parts.
  8. DD2020 should be the tri-compax, sec @ 3:00 minus date. DD2021 is the tri-compax with date. The bad thing about the DD modules is getting them serviced, as they are quite difficult to work with from what I understand. I believe they are usually replaced with a new module when the base movement is serviced and the old unit is sent back to the factory as a core for overhaul.
  9. EE- Seems the ETA based 2020 movements have been used in everything from Omegas to Zenos for gens; for reps (if you are planning to retro fit one), that's kinda hard to say whether one will fit, as most 2894 based seconds at 3:00 replicas have the modified 7750 in it (I'm not aware of any existing replica models based on the actual 2824/2020 combination, so the 2894 would be the next best fit, methinks). The differences in overall movement profile and added modules may not allow for the stem to align correctly without modification to the case (either adding or subtracting material as needed). Difficult to say without having one of either in hand to actually test fit into a proper case.
  10. BTW, thanks all for the kind words... Much appreciated! These are always fun... But I think I need to move on from 5513/4/7's, as it seems they are all I have done for 2010! Wonder what 2011 will bring?
  11. Great watches and excellent composition of pics! Very nice!
  12. Interesting how similar our answers were... Thinking the same thoughts
  13. Not sure about the claim of not being polished... Looks like it's seen a buffing wheel more than a few times in it's life (or maybe just once in the wrong hands). Based on the pics, looks like it's seen some servicing in it's time as well... Newer insert and other bits. What's the asking price?
  14. What a difference a crystal makes! Looks great!
  15. bkw- Did my package to you ever arrive?
  16. Thanks, sir. The hands were originally the stock MBW silver tone hands. I gave them a quick mod to achieve the gilt look (similar to these I did on this old 5500 I built):
  17. Don't forget- Gen service 25-19 as well! There were plenty of hiccups along the way, but what can I say? I didn't feel right about not giving it a go... And I like to surprise my friends with such things when I can. Just wish I had more time to do these... Glad you like it! Thanks for letting me be a part of your project! Cheers and best, //ubi
  18. That's actually a pic of a different DD module, Ronin... The same one they use on the Lemania LWO and AP 2125.... Like this (except without the top plate): Note the 12-9-6 layout with the top subsidiary (actually the running seconds) closer to the center hour and min pinions. The 2020 DD is the same layout as the ETA 2894...
  19. Hmmmm... Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me, but the pushers look asymmetric, but reversed (i.e. it's the 2:00 pusher that looks more offset than the 4:00 one). Anyone else see that, or is it just me? Could be the angle, I suppose...
  20. Hmmm... Looks like a 2894 inside... Seconds at 3:00...
  21. Since posting this thread, I got to thinking- Maybe these types of compulsive purchases work out best for me in the end. Seems as though that when I actually plan on projects, I end up doubling and tripling down on parts to use the best of the lot for my build. The compulsive buys tend to work out with a little less redundancy. Hmmmmmm....
  22. A- You are absolutely correct! Mrs. Ubi is far nicer to look at than I am However, I do have to admit that I'm a bit more partial to my own 6265, if only for the time and parts that I have into it (and not just my own, but plenty of Zig's time as well getting that movement overhauled) None the less, it's always nice to look at her Daytona in the watch box. It's definitely a nice looking piece!
