  1. I have to ask- What is the view like when looking down your nose at other people? It must be extraordinary as I notice you seem to do it quite often...
  2. I would agree with that. Being in a safe is no life for a watch...
  3. Having seen the new DW kits first hand, I have to say he's done a great job on these. The dials are really quite nice!
  4. Just for a little while...
  5. I think the heart and soul of a vintage also contributes to that as well...
  6. Gen tubes are quite difficult to find; especially in NOS condition sealed in the little blister pack! Some ridiculous money being asked for those... As for aftermarket; marsupilami has some that he had made. Quite nice!
  7. Nice find! If you've got 5 or so... Any interest in selling one?
  8. There's just something about the charm of vintage...
  9. If you have a crystal/bezel press, I would first seat the retention ring completely against the case. Next, install the flat washer and then the click, which is the little metal wire. Following these parts, I would then install the bezel without the bezel insert; this will allow you to give the assembly a visual check to make sure all parts are engaging correctly. Once confirmed, remove the bezel, re-install the insert and snap the bezel back onto the assembly.
  10. What about the 'MADE IN CHINA' stamp on the case back? I'd think that would have given it away?
  11. If that's the case, he needs to be wearing a Panerai!
  12. Thanks for the very kind words, gents. Always appreciated! I'm as happy as a clam (errr... Oyster) with this one ticking away on the wrist. It's been in the works for a while now, but it's nice to be able to finally enjoy it! Got a few more things to do on it... Mostly cosmetic, but mechanically, it's done! Cheers! //ubi
  13. No better way to learn than to just jump in head first and get your hands dirty! Well done! I think you should keep going on this one instead of handing it over to someone else to finish. Cause when it is completed, you'll have a whole lot more satisfaction and pride in the work done which will be evident everytime you look down at your wrist! Keep up the good work!
  14. Kinda tough to tell... But maybe an IWC Pilot bracelet? Probably not a 3717 Pilot Chrono... But maybe an XVI? EDIT- you said TT... Nevermind. The TT tone in your pics doesn't stand out on my display so I thought it was all SS.
  15. Along the lines of having too many watches, I spent a good 20 minutes going back and forth this morning on which watch I actually wanted to wear today. Too many choices, and when they're all a favorite in one way or another, it makes the decision process difficult...
  16. Patinga- Not aimed at you, sir. Rather, aimed at a few specific individuals taking advantage of Kurt's direct kindness.
  17. Indeed, Zig did a fantastic job overhauling this one. Money well spent for 5 years worth of peace of mind...
  18. Well, I'll be. Just hit the reset pusher and the 12:00 counter reset dead perfect.
  19. Knowing what I do regarding this, I can't say I'm terribly shocked by the behavior of some specific individuals. Seems as though making a profit is more important to these people than that of a gesture of kindness or friendship Kurt- I know you've got a big heart and have helped many here... You've had the opportunity to make some money at this but instead chose the high road by helping others with your generosity, and oft times with little to no return of the same kindness. It's instances like this that make me wonder what would motivate one to take advantage of someone's kindness like this, but I guess it's really quite clear. Money. That's pretty shallow, and quite sad. One thing is for sure... Karma's a motherfucker. Those deserving will get their due sooner or later...
